Chapter # 89

There was a guest town for travelers near Aziel, they all went there in separate groups to avoid any dispute or gain suspicion by their number.

Azen and Tabit reached first and got a separate room and went straight to sleep as they were supposed to leave early.

“This sure seems unbelievable, don’t you think?” Randall asked Zen as they went walking down to the only inn of the town.

“Yeah. Who would have thought that once friends are today’s enemies.” Zen nodded in agreement, eyes affixed on the ground.

“Randall…” Zen called, stopping in his tracks for a second.

“Hmm?”

“Imagine if that day never happened… how different things would have been then, right?” Zen asked with a sorrowful smile, the imagination of a peaceful but unreal future hurt him.

“Yeah, you are right… We might live entirely different lives.” Randall hummed, agreeing with a hollow smile.

“I sometimes imagine what it would be like.” Zen chuckled dryly, shaking his head, hitting it even.
