Call Me A Hater

Abegail’s Point of View.

I took a deep breath and blew it through my mouth in a second, then I looked around the whole room. For heaven’s sake, there’s no rat in here!

I shook my head, unbelieving the fact that I was tricked by Sarah. I know, she’s up to something, she’s such a liar; and I am too dumb on obeying her. Now, I need to leave this mansion as soon as possible, and meet my friends.

“Mom, she really did it! I lost it, she stole it from me!” A woman’s voice. “We can’t just accept a thief inside the mansion, Mom! Ditch her out from here!”

I heard an outcry, and when the words started digging into my head, my hands began to tremble. If I’m not mistaken, that’s Sarah, and she’s about to start another chaos inside the house again.

I felt like my soul was gradually leaving my body. I took a step backward to lean on the wall and waited for them to come on the doorstep. In a second or two, Sarah and her mother stood on the doorway.

Jessica’s brows seemed to be one dark line as she frowned at me. Damn it, what is it this time?

“You whore, what are you doing?” she asked in a loud voice as she took steps. “An hour ago, you were in our master’s bedroom, and now, you’re stealing something inside my daughter’s room? Do you want me to call the police?”

Stealing something! What on earth they’re talking about? I felt like crying, and my insides were shattering. The tensions between us wast tying to send me tears on each corner of my eyes. This again, how could I stop it?

“I didn’t steal anything from you! I could buy anything for myself, why would I even steal it? And also, your daughter asked me to kill the rat, or keep it away from her bedroom, I just obeyed what she said!” I snapped. “Stealing, why would I even do that, to my family?”

“Family? Hah!” Jessica scoffed. “You’ll never be part of this family, I am telling you now. Do you understand? You will never be a part of us.”

I didn’t answer, I just stood there in silence and wished that I’ll be eaten by the floor alive, but that’s too impossible. I’m calling myself a hater of them, but I can’t hate them for the rest of my life. Maybe because I was just afraid that my husband will choose his family over me.

A part of me disagreed with the wonders, as if I couldn’t live without my husband. I could, but for now, I chose not to.

“Last chance,” Jessica said. “If you still have the guts to come inside our rooms, I will tie you up to court for years.”

“I didn’t steal anything!” I snapped and stomped my foot on them.

Sarah took a step forward. “Didn’t steal anything?” she asked. “My thirty-thousand dollar bracelet was just right here!” Sarah even pointed the desk beside me.

I shook my head and tried my best to gather my thoughts but my mouth couldn’t utter a word. Perhaps my brain was so done and tired with this repeating speculations.

“What a cheap woman,” Sarah commented. “If you wanted the bracelet, you can ask me for it and I’ll give it to you like a trash on my perspective. It’s just a 30,000 dollar bracelet, that’s just nothing.”

“Then why are you acting like that if it’s just nothing,” I mumbled.

Sarah frowned. “What did you say?”

I didn’t answer, I just looked away and hid a sigh. It’s better not to answer back, it’s pointless.

“Mom!” Sarah’s outcry again. “That’s my favorite bracelet, oh come on! Let this bitch pay for the crime she did!”

Damn, her words were really triggering me. Although I really wanted to close my mouth, I just couldn’t help but to answer back.

“I told you I didn’t steal it!” I exclaimed, but it’s useless, I really know that it’s useless, they would never believe me. I pulled myself to stand straight, walking away from my leaning on the wall.

Jessica eyed me, took steps forward, and stared straight to my eyes. Through her gritted teeth, she said. “I’ll tell your husband about this, and let’s see if my son will still look at you as a wife, maybe it would be change because you’re a thief.”

Damn it, I really have the urge to strangle them both but I know, I have no power in this house. Even if they started this, it would still my fault.

If only my husband could leave his family so we could build ours, unfortunately, he couldn’t, since he’s the one who manage their business, and on my side, I don’t want my husband leaving all of these things behind just for me.

Jessica grabbed Sarah’s hand, and they left while Sarah was still sulking and marching like a child.

“Mom, my bracelet!” Sarah shrieked, and made heavy and loud footsteps. However, I didn’t hear Jessica answer her daughter.

They literally accused me without any evidences. Truth must be told, I didn’t steal anything from them because I can buy things for myself.

Well, this isn’t my first time having an argument with them with their bad behaviors, but now I am so done! Really, really done.

My friends told me to leave the mansion and start renting, or maybe buy a house instantly, but my husband would never agree to that. I hated it since I’m the one who’s suffering with these physical, mental and emotional abuse.

As if I could do anything about it. Maybe I have a way, but neither of it will make my husband tolerate it.

Suddenly, my phone rang, and when its rings reached my ear, my heart jumped. “Maybe it’s Macey,” I told myself, but my smile faded when it’s my husband’s text flashing on the screen.

The text says: “I’ll be coming home late tonight, honey. I am sorry, we are having a business party on Crust Mallow Side. I’ll give you updates.”

The message still gave a smile on my face. My husband is such a standard, that’s why I couldn’t just go out of this mansion, and be hardheaded. I know, my husband knew the best for me.

But the back of my head disagreed with my thoughts. The thought even sent shiver on my spine, and the feeling was so weird. I frowned, what’s happening? I only feel this whenever I felt bad.

Maybe it’s because of what had happened between me and his family. I still trust my man above anyone.

I came out from Sarah’s room and got a call from Macey, saying that she’s worried. “Girl, it’s been minutes, is there any problem there?” she asked.

I walked through the hallways, going straight to my room. I smiled with a slight chuckle. “I am alright, I’m coming now. Maybe forty minutes from now,” I answered. “I am sorry for being late, I still have to check my family if they’re doing fine before I leave.”

“Why does ‘family’ sound irony in my ears?” Macey asked. “The only family you have is your husband, your father, and us, your friends! What are you saying there, we both know you’re not a family to them”

The truth slapped too hard, but I just sighed and rolled my eyes. “I know,” I muttered. “But just let me say it. See you!”
