IVANA'S POV

As Felix led us to the car, he made sure we settled in before going out to make a call.

I knew for sure that he was telling Ruslan in about the situation.

I wanted to be brave and prove that it wasn't much of a big deal, but one thing was for sure; Ruslan was going to show me how much of a big deal this was.

He was going to punish me. Certainly, but either way, I didn't regret saving Aria.

If I was a second late, they would have raped her because of me.

They were after me but she turned out to be the bait.

“Everything would be fine, Aria. You can stay over at our place for some days.” I placed my hands over hers, a warm reassuring smile curling up on my lips.

“Are you sure? Will your step-brother accept that?” Aria asked, worry etched on her face.

I wasn't sure myself, but if I have to beg, I would do that. Certainly.

I wasn't that much of a heartless person to let her return home in such state. Tattered and battered.

  • Craving Him, My Step-Brother    Chapter 101

Ruslan's POV Save for the rhythmic ticking of the clock mounted on the wall, the room was deadly quiet. The air inside my office was dense with tension, thick enough to be sliced with a knife. At the moment, I was leaning against my leather chair, clenching my phone loosely in one hand as I stared at the screen. Xavier’s name blinked for the fourth time in under ten minutes. He was persistent, but I wasn’t one to give in to impatience especially not when I had the upper hand.Across the room, Nico sat casually on the couch, flipping through a dossier with pictures scattered beside him. He wasn’t paying attention to the calls but when the fifth one came in and I still hadn’t picked up, he shifted his gaze to me.“Aren’t you going to answer him?” He asked, “He’s either scared, desperate, or maybe both.”I exhaled slowly, my eyes never leaving the phone. I wanted him to feel tension so that next time, he wouldn't dare to ignore me.“Let him sweat.”When the sixth call came in, I fin

  • Craving Him, My Step-Brother    Chapter 100

Ivana’s POVWhile I played with my brush, Benny and Rita chatted casually, their laughter breaking through the silence in split seconds. Having had fun to his fill, Benny returned to my side and with his hands pushed inside his pockets, he said, “The offer still stands." Leaning more closely now, he added, “I'm not trying to seduce you. I respect your husband so much, not only that I'm not going to hurt you or him." He smacked his lips.“Ciao." He waved as he made his way towards the door while I kept staring at him, my cheeks flushed in embarrassment. Unable to keep still anymore, I quickly took off my apron and then rushed to the bathroom to splash cold water over my face. The steady hum of the overhead light and the sound of water running into the porcelain sink were the only noises in the bathroom.“Perfect." I muttered, staring at my reflection in the mirror. After one last splash, I reached out for the paper towel to wipe my face and hand. It was at this moment that the door

Ivana’s POVThe studio was quiet, giving me the kind of stillness that allowed my mind to slip into the world of creativity without distractions. Lunch time was always like this and so I always liked to maximize it each time I was alone. My hands moved with certainty over the canvas, my brush dipping into thick oils as I blended the edges of a sunset against the silhouette of a fading cityscape. The piece had taken days to shape and hours to perfect, and now, finally, it was beginning to come to life. Proud of my hard work, I was about to start admiring my piece when I felt his presence.Benny.I didn’t have to look to know. He had a particular kind of silence which was always intentional and curious that gave him away every time. I rolled my eyes before he even said a word.“Still ignoring the world, I see,” Benny said, folding his arms across his chest as he stepped inside. At that moment, I twisted slightly, my hand moving swiftly to adjust the canvas and to block his view.Be

Reader’s POVAfter hanging up, Fabrizio kept staring at himself in the mirror, his head creating different scenarios in a short burst.“Whatever." He muttered, pushing his hands into his pockets as he made his way back to join Trenton on the table. The calm look on his face had now switched into something else as he clenched his jaw like he had just finished an argument with someone. Now seated across from Trenton, legs crossed he was tapping his fingers against his hands absentmindedly while Trenton studied him. “What is it?” Trenton asked, breaking the silence. His voice was low because of the children who were playing quietly near the window. At that instant, Fabrizio sank deeper into his chair, his hand going into his hair as he let out a low wince.“The call was from Moscow.” He said in a grave voice. Raising his brow, Trenton asked, “Bad news?”Fabrizio shifted his glance away and then back to him with an unreadable expression. “My father has been searching for me like I'm s

Ruslan’s POVThe faint hum of electricity buzzed around me and for some reason, I found an odd comfort in the sterile, high tech wire room.Arching my back slightly, I exhaled slowly, watching the screens blink, flicker, and settle into patterns of digital activity that meant little to anyone outside Walter’s world. The air was cool, clinical like it was a hospital. It was probably from the scent of static and faint cologne from Walter. Walter was pacing about, his phone pressed to his ear and his brows pulled together in his signature stubborn line especially when he wasn't getting what he wanted like now. He had been trying to reach Xavier for almost an hour now but he wasn't picking up. “He’s still not picking up,” he grunted like a dying old man as he turned to face me. “He knows the reason we are calling him so he is ignoring us on purpose.” I let out a chuckle which was a dark sound laced with amusement and irritation. “Of course he is ignoring us. He knows he has been cau

  • Craving Him, My Step-Brother    Chapter 96

Ivana's POVSitting across the table from Trenton and the kids who had refused to leave his side, I was chewing on my chips. It was weekend so it was a work free day for me. Trenton had come to pick me up and the kids refused to let go of him that's why they ended up here. “Are you still sulking?" Trenton asked, a hint of amusement in his eyes while I rolled my eyes, letting out a low huff.“You should have left them with mom." I huffed, chewing on my chips even more furiously, my hand stuck up in my hair.“I can handle them." He retorted and as if on a cue, Kiera who was trying to dip her chip into her plate of sauce, tumbled it over and in that instant, everything spilled on him. At first, I was wearing a horrid expression but seeing the pout on Kiera’s face made my lips twitch and the next minute I was reeling with laughter. “Hey, what happened, I couldn't reach you.” Fabrizio who had just joined us said to Trenton who was having a hard time keeping things under control. "Kian

Ruslan’s POVTitling my head to the side, I let out a low huff before swirling around to face Nico who was behind me, waiting for further instructions. “What did you just say?” I was on the verge of laughing in his face. "Slade offered to help us hit the deal only if we step down from the deal we were trying to conclude with the guys from Morocco.”"The next time he comes to you, redirect him to me. I might consider it if he says that to my face.” I muttered, watching Nico as a knowing smile spread across his face. Walking away from the window, I positioned myself in the middle of my office, staring at the oak door as I replayed father's words in my head. He has asked me to find Xavier, my cousin who suddenly fizzled into the air without a single trace. Everything that could be done to find him had been done but it was to no avail. He had been missing for over a year before we were notified by my uncle. “I bet he is already dead." I muttered, rubbing my nape. "I beg to differ.

  • Craving Him, My Step-Brother    Chapter 94

Ivana’s POVFor more than five minutes, we stood across each other, no one said a word or even made an attempt to. The only word ringing in my head was when he said someone should eliminate the problem, maybe threat, I had forgotten that as I was panicking. Rubbing my forehead which was aching, I stumbled backwards, swirling around to leave but he halted in front of me. With a voice tingling with genuine concern, he stopped before me and tenderly, he raised my chin so that I was staring back into his eyes.“Are you alright?" He asked and for some reason my teeth began to rattle as I stared back at him, trying all I could not to pass out. He has caught me eavesdropping but he wasn't making any attempt to address that. He was feigning like nothing happened. Snapping my eyes shut, I took a deep breath and the next second, I was a few feet away from him, my hands folded before me.Staring at his shirt sleeve which had now been throughly soaked with blood, I said, “You're bleeding too

  • Craving Him, My Step-Brother    Chapter 93

Ivana’s POVSitting in my favourite position at the studio, a brush was dangling in my hand as I stared at the blank canvas in front of me. The smell of turpentine and fresh acrylics soothed my nerves and immediately the inspiration hit, I dragged the brush across the canvas, layering strokes of pale gold over the subtle pink tones I had spent the last hour blending.I was painting a girl silhouette who had her head turned toward a lake that shone under the moonlight. It was the theme of the week and so I wanted to put in my best.Keeping me company in the large studio which was deserted as everyone has gone for lunch was the gentle instrumental music playing from my phone. The instant there was a shift in the air, I noticed and immediately, I turned off my music, turning to face the intruder who was no other than Benny. Crossing his hands on his chest, he muttered, “You don't like the food around here?"“I had a late breakfast." I said through my teeth, resisting the urge of scoo
