Sabrina’s POV

The moment Michal opened the ballroom doors for me, my world exploded in a symphony of cheers, applause, and confetti.

“Surprise!”

“Congratulations to the mommy and daddy!”

“Welcome Baby Bambina!”

For a second, I froze in the doorway, stunned as dozens of voices rang out around us.

The chandelier glittered above like a thousand stars had descended to celebrate, and streamers rained from the ceiling in swirls of gold, pink, and powder blue.

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to laugh, cry, or both. My hands instinctively went to my swollen belly, as if to shield our daughter from the intensity of the moment.

But all I felt was warmth radiating from the people, the lights, the sheer joy blooming in this space like wildflowers. The mansion’s grand ballroom had been transformed beyond recognition.

Blush-colored drapes framed the tall windows, while rose petals lined the edges of the marble floor. Tables were wrapped in silk linens.

Michal’s POV The second Sabrina whispered, “It’s a girl,” and the room exploded in cheers, I felt my throat tighten. Not from nerves. Not from fear. The applause thundered around us like the stomping of giants, a chorus of assassins and smugglers and street kings now clapping with childlike glee. I should have been watching the doors. Scanning faces. Thinking strategy. But for a single beat—I didn’t. Instead, I looked at Sabrina, her hand over her belly, glowing in a way that had nothing to do with the chandelier above us. My woman. My queen. The future mother of my daughter. And then reality struck. Sebastian’s voice. Sharp. Dangerous. Cutting through the noise like a blade. “East perimeter breach. Two unknown vehicles.” I stepped in front of Sabrina before I even realized I’d moved. The instinct was as old as time. Protect the pack. Protect the family. But most of all protect her. “They know where we are.” Those words chilled me more than the winter air eve

Michal’s POV According to Henry, the girls have locked themselves in the nursery all day. Not that I’m surprised. Sabrina’s been nesting like crazy lately. Especially with Shelly in tow hell-bent on making sure every plush toy and diaper stack is color-coded and symmetrical it’s practically a military operation upstairs. I imagine them in there now: paint chips, baskets of baby clothes, handwritten checklists curling at the edges from overuse. A battlefield of pastel chaos. “Apparently, they’re doing inventory on the pacifiers now,” Henry had informed me dryly this morning, barely masking his amusement. I chuckle, the image vivid in my head. “Shelly acts like she’s the one who’s pregnant.” Across the room, Sebastian looks up from the stack of documents we’ve been reviewing. A rare break from the world of gun deals and intel leaks, both of us buried in numbers and names we’d rather forget. Sebastian arches a brow and smirks. “She practically is. I caught her lecturing Sab

Sabrina’s POV “Now it’s time to have some mommy and daddy time.. and celebrate,” Michal whispers in my ear, his voice low and rich, like warm velvet. A thrill races down my spine as his arms wrap around me from behind. I can feel the heat of him through my clothes, the promise in the way his lips graze the shell of my ear. Just a few hours ago, we were staring at the ultrasound monitor, our hands intertwined, watching the soft flutter of our baby’s heartbeat on the screen. A girl. Our daughter. Even now, the word sits in my heart like a song I haven’t stopped humming since the appointment. “She’s really in there,” I whisper, resting my hand over my barely-there bump. “Our little girl…” Michal places his hand on top of mine, his larger palm completely covering my belly. He doesn’t say anything, but the look in his eyes says it all. Reverent. Fierce. Soft. I’ve never seen him look at anyone the way he looks at me when I talk about our baby. The door clicks shut behind

Sabrina’s POV The morning of the gender appointment arrives quicker than I could imagine. It’s strangely quiet at the mansion today. The kind of quiet that feels pregnant with meaning no pun intended. The air outside the windows is warm and still, sunlight painting soft stripes through the sheer white curtains draped across the mansion’s tall windows. Even the usual muffled sounds of Sebastian’s men downstairs are distant today, it’s kind of strange if you ask me. I’m already dressed by the time Michal walks into the bedroom, still towel-drying his hair. He freezes in the doorway, blue eyes sweeping over me. “You’re glowing,” he says, voice still gravelly from sleep. “I’m anxious,” I counter, running a hand over the soft knit of my sweater. It’s pale pink not on purpose. Not really. I just grabbed it without thinking. But now that I see myself in the mirror, I wonder if it’s my subconscious manifesting. Michal steps behind me, sliding his arms around my waist. “Yo

Sabrina POV It’s been a whole week since the lake. A week since the night Michal and I lay beneath the stars, wrapped up in nothing but each other. We came home two days after that, slowly, reluctantly. Our home felt.. loud. Jarring, even. Concrete instead of pine needles under my feet, sirens in place of birdsong, glowing streetlights instead of fireflies. But strangely, I haven’t hated it. Not like I thought I would. Because regardless this is home. Where Sebastian and Shelly live as well and some of the mafia family. I feel different. Not just physically, though that’s true too—my hips ache more now, and my stomach has the faintest curve to it, barely noticeable unless I wear something fitted. But inside? Like I’m slowly becoming the kind of woman I never thought I’d get to be. The kind of woman who’s building something beautiful, something whole. The kind of woman who lets herself hope. I’m curled up on the sectional couch, wearing one of Michal’s black hoodies,
