Emery scoffed at the question of the prince.

“Don’t get ahead of yourself, Your Highness,” she said. “I only saved you to avoid being accused of siding with the rebels.”

“If you think that my life and testimony would save you from such trouble, then you are wrong,” he responded. “Scheming men in the court have their ways in making up stories.”

After that brief conversation, the two went quiet and continued to find their way out of the forest. The sun rose in the east, made its way across the sky, and before they knew it, it was getting dark once more and yet, they were still stuck in there with no food and little water. Emery was getting worried at the current state of the prince since his fever was not going down at all.
