Thank you for your continuous support to Emery’s journey. As we are close to the ending, I would like to read your thoughts about it. Do leave your review or feedback and I will surely read them.
In the midst of the wide gladiator stadium filled with spectators both from the noble and ordinary families, two women faced off against each other, their swords at the ready. Right at the side where a large throne stood was Emperor Claus overlooking the open ground with Castor right next to him. The other knights stood at different posts around the stadium to make sure that no outsiders would dare interfere with the duel. The rows of seats right below him were occupied by the ministers, including the emperor’s three advisors—Sir Tarkin, Sir Vlachos, and Sir Louvel. As much as these three men were against the said duel as it could put the empire into a state of instability because of Emery’s non-Varmorian blood and lack of influence and wealth, this was also by far the safest option they have to keep the Hagans’ reputation unstained. They were already aware of th
The people along the main street of Elescaster City halted whatever they were doing upon hearing clops of horses’ hooves getting louder and seeing a group of men passing by at a rather fast speed towards the direction of the palace. They had to clear the streets in order to avoid getting stomped. Several of the men were clearly foreign soldiers judging by the unfamiliar armor they wore. However, they only grew curious of the other two leading them since they wore a hooded cape that hid their faces from anyone. It took them several minutes to reach the main gates of the palace, halting their horses to get their identities checked. The two people at the front removed their hoods, revealing a young boy and an older woman. With only one look at the younger one, the guards could tell that it was none other than the twin of the empire’s Crown Prince. His hair was as dark as the night, which was contrary to his pair of eyes that resembled the golden sun. The guard bowed their heads in his
Fate just had its way of playing with the lives of people, especially Emery who seemed to be its favorite to play with. Emery gave birth to twins, one boy and one girl. She thought that having them would finally mend her relationship with King Lawson that was on the verge of being broken once more, however, she was wrong. Rather than having a stable relationship, it became more chaotic when King Lawson came back from a three-week trip to another kingdom for a diplomatic meeting. Her heart broke as she watched him return with another woman. It was not just an ordinary woman, but the younger sister and seemingly exact replica of Royal Concubine Hazel. She received the king’s utmost attention with the reason that King Lawson felt guilty of letting Lady Hazel be killed. Hence, his only way to redeem himself was to treat her younger sister better. Emery let it slide, thinking that her twins needed more attention from her since their father barely spent time with them. However, even in he
In a tavern usually filled with a bustling crowd even before night falls in the Kingdom of Realgar, a hidden training ground lies beneath it that was only known by a few. With no one’s knowledge, Emery Trigon, a trained assassin under the Arcana Organization, had been training 10 girls for five years now to become assassins fit to be sent to several missions for the sake of the people and the kingdom. “Huddle up!” Emery announced and within a few seconds, the girls lined up in front of her, sweating and trying to catch their breath after another rigorous day of training. “Since all of you have been doing good in gathering intel, I decided to level up your missions. This time, I will have you work together to get something from the prime minister’s house.” The girls immediately whispered to each other out of surprise because if they failed from that mission, they could possibly be accused of treason. And treason would only mean one thing… death. Before Emery could explain further d
“We’re here,” Emery announced as they stood before the humongous entrance of the third gate surrounding the capital of Silex Kingdom. She must admit that after almost six years, being here alone made her feel like she traveled back in time. The only difference was that the security around the vicinity was tighter than before and there were guards by the gate checking the identities of those who were passing through.“Your badges?” the guard asked in order to confirm that the newcomers were not people who would cause trouble.Emery was the first one to show her fake badge proving to them that she was a mere merchant together with some of her assistants. Much to her relief, they were not suspected at all, however, just when they were about to pass through the gate, one of the guards stopped them.“You…” He pointed at Emery with narrowed eyes. “Show us your face before you could head inside.”The ten girls looked at their meister and waited for her to remove her mask since she had been
Headmaster Harriet paused for a while as she stared at the ceiling. She simply needed some time to collect herself before speaking another word.“Just like what the woman said, the killers wore black capes and hid their faces behind black masks. It’s already obvious given that they got to beat us all but they are highly trained individuals. They are on another level… I must admit that. Plus, they show no mercy at all,” she added. “I do not exactly know what they want from us since they just raided our headquarters and asked for nothing.”“Could they have probably attacked us due to some old grudge? Or could they probably know about the organization’s existence?” Emery asked. The headmaster shook her head.“I do not know but they could be possibilities, but the killings are still rampant so it must be something more serious than a simple grudge.”As the two continued to speak, Secora came in with a tray of food and water. Emery, then, left and went out to help the others instead of eat
Emery managed to leave without catching unnecessary attention. Breathing with relief, she decided to head to the house of the nearest noble lady on the list that Secora gave. It was in the second circle of the capital so she walked double time. The noble lady was the first child of one of the kingdom’s current ministers. According to Secora, this lady would often visit the palace for some visitations to her father who often worked overtime. If the attackers were indeed after her, then it would probably be for the reason of getting her to talk or she could be used as a hostage to make the minister spill confidential information. Just when she was about to make a turn, she saw the lady leaving the house with some maidservants and a pair of bodyguards. Emery followed them to one of the popular clothing shops in the area and closely monitored her.
The king wanted her to stay longer and speak with her. And not to mention, she seemed to be looking into something… he thought that they could probably work together and he could use that as an excuse to be with her. “If you are here to look into the murders going on, then why don’t we exchange information?” he offered. It was a tempting offer for Emery, especially that she did not have much of a solid lead yet, but she was unsure if it was a good idea to be involved with him again. “Don’t worry, After this, I won’t bother you anymore,” he added. The king seemed to be sincere and this was a win-win situation for the both of them. Emery thought of the condition that the Arcana was in and somehow, it pushed he
