Lauren thought her life was perfect until a Valentine’s Day dinner turned into a nightmare. Accused of pushing her mother-in-law down the stairs, she quickly realizes it’s a setup. With nowhere to go, Lauren runs straight to the one person she never expected: Enzo, her mysterious and ruthless neighbor, the Mafia King everyone fears. As she starts plotting revenge, she uncovers a shocking truth: Sylas is involved with a rival mafia family, and she’s been dragged into a war that could destroy everything she knows. But things get even more complicated when Enzo reveals he’s hunting for a set of rare paintings that hold the key to a hidden vault of untold wealth. Intrigued, Lauren agrees to help him, even though she knows it could drag her deeper into the mafia’s deadly world. As Lauren navigates this treacherous new reality, she must decide whether to use Enzo and the growing attraction between them to exact her revenge, or risk losing herself in the chaos. Will she expose the lies and take back control, or will she be consumed by the very world that betrayed her?

"Come on, Sylas, I would never hurt your mother, let alone push her down the stairs. I love her. I love you," I said softly, my voice trembling as I tried to reach him, to make him see the truth. But Sylas didn’t move, his expression cold and unyielding.
Suddenly, a sharp slap stung my face, the sound ringing out like a gunshot in the quiet house. My cheek burned as I knelt there, stunned. Sylas had hit me. And Taylor? She just stood there with smug satisfaction. I couldn't believe it. My husband whom I had loved so much had slapped me because of Taylor. It was her fault. She had lied to him. Made him believe that I pushed his mother down the stairs but it wasn't true.
“Are you saying Taylor’s lying? She’s your older sister. Why would she lie about something like this?” Sylas demanded as Taylor busted out crying.
She leaned against him, her head on his shoulder, playing the victim while Sylas comforted her, stroking her hair. They thought they had fooled me, but I wasn’t blind. I knew the truth. The two of them, my husband and my sister were having an affair. The betrayal cut deep but the worst of it all was that they wanted to get rid of me.
“Sign them,” Sylas said, his voice cold as he threw a stack of papers in front of me. Divorce papers. Their final move was to get me out of the way.
But I wasn’t going down without a fight.
“I'm pregnant,” I announced watching as Sylas’s eyes widened in shock. “I'm three weeks pregnant and the baby is yours, Sylas. So, no. I am not going to sign these divorce papers.” I announced.
Taylor stepped forward unable to hold back her act any longer, “You liar, sign them!” She yelled as she stepped forward but Sylas immediately caught her before she could lay her hand on me.
“Don't tell me you believe her?” Taylor asked as she turned to Sylas. “Sylas, it's a lie. A lie to make you stay with her and you cannot fall into it.”
“I was going to tell you the news today. That's why I prepared everything. The Valentine's feast and the decorations, I wanted to tell you that we are going to have a baby.” I said hoping that Sylas would believe me.
But I was wrong.
"How stupid do you think I am? " Sylas asked stepping closer, his eyes blazing with anger.
Before I could react, he grabbed my hand, trying to force me to sign the papers. His grip was iron-strong, and no matter how tightly I clenched my fingers, I couldn’t fight back. With ease, Sylas crushed my resistance, dragging the pen across the page, and binding my name to the divorce papers. When it was done, he shoved me to the ground like I was nothing.
"How could you? After everything I’ve done for you!" I cried, my voice breaking as tears blurred my vision. My heart shattered as I looked at Taylor, who smirked, triumphantly staring at the signed papers in her hands.
"Well, now that it’s official, I don’t see why we should keep her around any longer," Taylor sneered, her tone laced with venom. She reached for the wine bottle she had brought earlier, a sly grin spreading across her face.
My breath caught in my throat as realization struck me. The wine, it was poisoned.
“No,” I whispered as Taylor stepped closer.
Summoning every ounce of strength, I snatched a handful of sand from the shattered flowerpot behind me and hurled it at Taylor. The wine bottle in Taylor's hand fell to the ground and the pieces of glass scattered. One of them flew cutting my face and making me yell in pain. My hands flew up to my face and I could see blood on my hands.
“You bitch, I'll kill you!” Taylor screamed in pain with Sylas by her side.
Taking advantage of the situation, I bolted out of the house. The rain greeted me in icy sheets, drenching me as water splashed beneath my pounding feet. The road stretched ahead, empty, and yet the echo of footsteps behind me sent a shiver down my spine. Taylor was fast, but I refused to look back. Desperation drove me forward until I spotted an open gate. Without hesitation, I darted inside, my breath ragged, and slipped into the house, slamming the door behind me.
The moment I entered, I looked around and my eyes landed on the huge stairs leading upstairs. I had no idea where I was or whose house I was in. All I knew was that I had to survive. Running up the stairs, I quickly entered one of the rooms and locked the door panting heavily. To my surprise, I watched as a man stepped out of the bathroom dressed in nothing but a towel tied around his waist.
I recognized him. He was the new neighbor who had moved into the house down the street. I still didn't know his name yet but he was my only hope right now.
“ Who are you?” The stranger asked as he stared at me.
My eyes were fixed on his body. He was hot and had a good-muscled body. My eyes darted down to where his towel was tied when suddenly, I realized he was standing on his two feet. Wasn't he a cripple?
“ Lauren!” Sylas screamed bringing me out of my thoughts.
“Save me.” I begged as I stared at the man in front of me.
My heart raced with each second.
“Please, you have to help me,” I begged the stranger, my voice trembling. “Don’t let that man find me.”
His eyes locked onto mine, hesitant, as though weighing a decision. Time felt like it was slipping through my fingers as Sylas’s footsteps grew louder, and closer. My chest tightened with each approaching step. If he caught me, there’d be no escape. Taylor would make sure of that.
The doorknob rattled, and panic surged. Without thinking, I darted into the bathroom and quietly shut the door. My pulse thundered in my ears as I pressed my back against the cold tiles, straining to hear what was happening outside.
“Excuse me, who are you?” my neighbor’s calm voice cut through the silence.
“I’m looking for my wife,” Sylas replied smoothly. His voice dripped with false concern. “She’s... unwell. She ran off, and I’m worried for her safety. Your gate was open, so I thought she might be here.”
Unwell? What a disgusting lie.
“I haven’t seen anyone,” my neighbor said evenly. “Your wife isn’t here.”
Sylas hesitated. “I see. Sorry for bothering you.”
The door clicked shut, and I exhaled sharply leaning against the wall. Opening the door, I walked back into the room and saw my neighbor waiting for me. His eyes told me that he didn't believe me.
“Tell me the truth. Now. If not, your husband is not going to be your problem, I am” He threatened making a shiver run through my spine.
ENZO-One month laterI felt like the f**king happiest man in the world. Three weeks after Don Alonzo got shot, he tried to escape and Rafael had tried to chase him. Unfortunately, Don Alonzo ended up falling off a cliff ending his life instead of facing the consequences of his actions. His body was found a few weeks later. The toughest battle had passed and all the old men in the mafia surrended the moment they heard Don Alonzo was dead. Now I had one more important task. “ You shouldn't be here.” Lauren whined as I stood outside her dressing room waiting for her. Today was the most important day of our lives. Our wedding. Yesterday, I skipped the mafia bachelor's party just so I could get up early to have a peek of Lauren in her dress but my plan failed. Her best friend, Samantha was here guarding the door with her life and even refused to move when I threatened her with my gun. “ If you lay one hand on my best friend, I might have to become a widow even before I reach the altar
“How?” Stefano asked as he stared at Enzo in shock. “Don Santoro. Boss, please spare me.” He begged as Enzo walked closer to him with his men. I scoffed at his pretense. There was no fear in him, just the fear of consequences. The kind that came too late.Enzo didn’t slow down. His boots crushed several glass pieces on the floor but he didn't stop. “Spare you?” Enzo’s voice was ice. “You stood beside the man who wants me buried. You aimed a gun at what’s mine.”His grip on my wrist tightened for a second before he let go and stepped forward.Stefano dropped to his knees, hands in the air, shoulders hunched like he thought playing weak would save him now.“I didn’t mean for it to go this far,” he said quickly. “It was just a job. I didn’t know—”“You knew,” Enzo cut him off. “You chose. You chose to betray your brothers, your family. You shot me at the f**king neck so I wouldn't be able to speak again.” Enzo said turning to look at me. “Thankfully, mia gurriera saved me. If it wasn't
LAUREN The entire club was in chaos. Bullets being fired around like the rain and people screaming, running in every direction, tripping over shattered glass and overturned tables. My ears rang from the noise, but I didn’t stop. I ducked behind a booth, heart slamming against my ribs like it wanted to tear through my chest. This wasn’t supposed to happen. I was supposed to meet Rafael. But he wasn’t here. And now everything was falling apart.I pressed a hand to the side of my neck, trying to slow my breathing. My dress clung to my skin with sweat, my heels sticky with someone else’s spilled drink or blood. I didn’t want to look.A body dropped beside me, lifeless. I bit down on a scream and covered my mouth.Don Alonzo. This was his doing. It had to be.I looked around quickly. Men in dark clothes swarmed the place, shouting to each other in Italian, firing at anything that moved. I didn’t recognize any of them. They weren’t Enzo’s.They were hunting.Hunting me.I gritted my teet
DON ALONZO “ Boss, all of them are waiting.” My right-hand man said coming to fetch me. I stared at the door where all of them were gathered. Those old men were desperate and eager. It had not taken me much to get all of them on my side. Promise them with sweet words that the Italian mafia would remain the same. “ I'll be there soon.” I said turning back to my phone call. After a few seconds, I finally ended the conversation with Enzo's doctor and hung up. I fixed my cufflinks, smoothing down the front of my tailored suit as I stared at my reflection in the tall mirror. Age hadn't dulled my edge, it sharpened it. The lines on my face were marks of survival, carved by betrayal and fire.Enzo had always been a foolish boy. Too soft when it mattered. Too proud to bow his head. I had given him everything. My name, my legacy and the fool had dared to turn against me for a woman.A woman who didn’t deserve to breathe the same air as us.I stepped away from the mirror and moved toward th
“What do you mean he made her Giovanni's legal guardian? He can't do that!” Barbara screamed angrily in protest. I refused to give her any reaction as I sat down with my legs crossed. Earlier I had received a message from Enzo's lawyer. He said Enzo had made some arrangements for Aurora. I didn't need his money. My child didn't either. “ Giovanni is my child. There is no way I will let this tramp raise my son.” Barbara said with disgust as she stared at me. “Mind your language.” Lotus warned reaching for her gun already but I stopped her. There was no need to argue with a drug addict. “ Ms. Riccardi, you are not fit to take care of a child given your habits.” Enzo's lawyer said making Barbara clench her hand. “Mr. Santoro has given his permission for Ms. Bianchi to take care of the two children if anything were to happen to him. His properties and assets shall go to his two children equally. That is all.” He said. Barbara lunged to her feet, face flushed with rage. “You think yo
I barged into the door kicking it down as I entered with all my men behind me. The plate of the car that had been watching Club Solara belonged to the Morretti family, allies of the Riccardi family. It didn't take long for me to know that Dante was behind it. “ Don Santoro. Your visit is very disturbing. You came with guns. Are you trying to break the code and attack your own people?” Mr. Morretti asked. I didn’t answer immediately. The silence stretched, filled only with the creak of leather and the low clicks of safeties being switched off. My eyes swept across the room, landing on the man seated across the table. He was grey haired, arrogant, pretending like I hadn’t just caught one of his rats watching Lauren and my daughter. “I don’t ignore threats either. One of your men has been staking out Club Solara. Why?” I asked coldly. His lips twitched, eyes narrowing. “You stormed in here over a parked car?”I stepped closer, voice dropping. “Don’t insult me. You know exactly what I
