“Dad,” I said on the phone immediately after he picked up. He responded slowly, his voice steady.

“I just wanted to check on you to see how you are faring. To see if anything has gone wrong. I don't know why, but I have this feeling like something wants to happen. I just hope you are able to overcome it in peace and in one piece. I hope it doesn't break you. Just make sure Frost protects you. Don't act all angry whenever he's by your side because he's the only one who can keep you safe.”

  • Crowned In Vengeance   Chapter 257: He Lived—She Paid The Price

Frost's POVMy eyes fluttered open slowly. My eyelids were heavy, and my vision was blurry at the start. I woke up with a sharp breath, with air dragging through my lungs as though it was the first time I ever used that organ. The pain in my chest was gone, the opening wound had sealed off, but the stinging memory of it still lingered in my head for a while. The air was different---still, quiet, almost as though I were in another world. But that familiar scent of lavender that swept through my nostrils only seemed to remind me of home. I was here---alive and well in the SilverFang pack. I tried to sit up. I tried to push myself up the bed and avoid that continuous vegetative state I had been in. But every slight flinch of my muscles only caused a strain in my head, and made my body even more uneasy. I was spiralling, my head spinning in a manner that made me feel so... dizzy. A slight hiss escaped my lips as I grinned in the sharp pain around my forehead."Hey! Hey! Sire, you need t

  • Crowned In Vengeance   Chapter 256: The Price Of A Living Heart

Rya's POV"No!!!" I let out a loud scream as I watched Frost drop to the floor. At that very moment, it felt as though the world had ended. I felt the world stop moving, and every single sound faded in my ears.I could barely feel my legs. My knees weakened and gave out, and I dropped to the hard ground, clutching my chest tightly. Tears streamed down my cheeks hot. My heart was... shattered. I had forgotten about the rituals, and the Moonstone's energy which I tried to harness to stop the void. And for what was a very brief moment, I didn't really care anymore. Nothing else mattered to me more than Frost. There before me, laid the love of my life, with a blade driven through his chest, and his entire body empty of life.I rushed towards him, crawling with my knees and hands, wailing like a child whose toys had been ceased but desperately wanted them back. I reached for where he was, and grabbed him from the ground. I pulled him closer to myself, letting his head rest on my thighs

  • Crowned In Vengeance   Chapter 255: The Oath I Broke For Her

Frost's POVA ritual circle was drawn on the ground. The clock was ticking. Barely an hour towards the start of the eclipse and tensions were already high. We could feel the eclipse coming. It wasn't the end of the world... or maybe it was, and it was slowly becoming like it.The moon still seemed completely normal at first---bright and glowing in all of its glory, full and high in the sky. But as we drew near, the moon was getting dull, muted, like a breath passing over a mirror. The atmosphere had changed. The shadows were becoming a bit... softer, less sharp. The night was becoming still and different.Rya stood at one edge of the drawn circle, holding the Moonstone. She was going to channel the power of the stone, while I would be at the other edge of the circle, ready to use my hybrid magic to channel the power of the remaining artifacts.Elder Darius was of great help to us at that point of our confusion. If there was someone who could guide the rest of the pack in the middle of

  • Crowned In Vengeance   Chapter 254: The Fall Of A False God

Rya's POVThorne and I stood face to face at the central courtyard which was the very heart of the entire pack, ready to battle for what would seem like the right to rule the entire SilverFang pack. The entire pack had gathered in their numbers---men, women, children, even slaves---watching with hopeful eyes and expectations, eager for the outcome.Thorne stood at the other end, his stance firm on the ground, and his chin raised. His eyes were set on the prize, burning with intensity and an intent to take me off the picture permanently. He was clearly imagining it, and his face beamed with a wide smile as he basked in the goodness of his imagination. He stood very confident. But why wouldn't he be? He had the force of the moonstone surging through his body, while I stood as an ordinary woman. I was calm, focused, yet ready to accept whatever outcome would be served. I had prayed to the stone, to the moon goddess... that was enough for me.He let out a loud cheer, leaping off the g

  • Crowned In Vengeance   Chapter 253: The Moonstone's reflection

Rya's POVTime felt ephemeral---gone before it could be understood. I had come to understand the transience of it, and did so the hard way. Every ticking second only drew me closer to an unpredictable future, to the combat that would determine my position in the SIlverFang pack.Everything had changed in my absence over the last few weeks in the SilverFang pack. I had not prepared myself for the things that could possibly occur, and I couldn't blame anyone else but myself.I had sat to wonder how swiftly Thorne made a difference in the pack that I laboured to rebuild. He had turned it to a personal asset, to his golden goose where he constantly gathered his golden eggs. He had everyone on his side, constantly feeding them lies to the point where they could no longer discern it from the truth. If only I had known earlier, I would have instilled a kind of system that would have crippled him. And now, I had to find a way to stop him from performing that deadly ritual.I took a brief str

  • Crowned In Vengeance   Chapter 252: The Price Of The Tear

Frost's POVOur journey only led us here---to a temple complex built on what would seem like centuries ago. The temple stood weathered and dead, with its walls which were cracked and worn out with age. Vine crept over its surface, and roots curled around its base. The entrance yawned open in silence, as though ready to swallow the next living thing into its darkness and silence. But there was no fer in us, and so we stepped in like it wass nothing. The interior was no different from the exterior---old and dead. I studied the patterns and carvings on the walls. They each meant something powerful, something sacred. The dragon shifter clan that must have erected such an edifice had gone extinct, leaving their sanctuary to become nothing but debris. I doubted that we could find anything significant within its ruined walls, but there was a need for a trial... for a search. We searched through every corner of the temple, every nook and cranny of this abandoned place. And true to my sus

  • Crowned In Vengeance   Chapter 188: Bonded Forever

Rya's POVI felt comfort at its best while I leaned on Frost. His body was warm, his hands were soft and tender, and his words were piercing yet soothing. He made me so vulnerable, and for the first time, it felt... like a good thing. I listened to his heartbeat while I gripped him tightly. It wa

  • Crowned In Vengeance   Chapter 159: Resolving to fate

Rya's POVI could hear Oscar's voice from my subconscious. It was the loudest in the room, the fiercest. I struggled to open my eyes faintly, to the sight of bright light from the bulb, and the turning ceiling fan. I let out a slight groan as I tried to turn on the bed. My head was pounding, mostl

  • Crowned In Vengeance   Chapter 156: The Alpha Before The Storm

Rya's POVIt was morning. The skies were still dark, and the air was cold. The winds blew through my opened windows, soothing my skin as I dressed up for the war. This moment was different. I was feeling different. There wasn't this usual exciting sensation that came with the morning—that usual as

  • Crowned In Vengeance   Chapter 158: The Cost Of Victory

Rya's POVNothing gave me greater joy on the battlefield than watching my men tear through those vampires kike hungry beasts they were. They mauled them, tore them into shreds like papers, and left them for dead. Yet, the battle wasn't over. We weren't victorious, at least, not yet. Lily was still
