“Ow! Damn it!” He exclaims as he falls backwards. Once he’s gotten himself situated on the couch, he glances up to see who ran into him. His eyes widen and he stands up hurriedly. “Edward? What are you doing here?”

“Uh…Max?” The older boy says in response.

“Are you okay? You seemed kinda distracted earlier.” Max rubs the back of his neck nervously before shaking his head in response.

“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. Sorry about that.” he raises an eyebrow, clearly wanting to press the issue, but thankfully doesn’t do so. Instead, he walks over to the counter and starts fiddling with the coffee machine.

“So where were you today?” he eventually asks after several minutes of silence.

Sophie walks through her front door, dropping her keys on the table before walking over to the kitchen, stopping dead in her tracks when she sees Max standing there. She looks between them for a few seconds before clearing her throat.
