Celeste’s POV

I had learned to spot trouble whenever I saw it. And judging by the look on Sebastian’s face, trouble had just walked into Éclat in an expensive suit.

Xavier noticed my discomfort and leaned forward. “Is something wrong, Celeste?”

I shook my head slightly, a weak smile forming on my lips. “No.”

He nodded and moved to continue with the conversation, unaware that the man we were talking about had just walked into Éclat.

“So tell me,” he said, “Did your ex ever apologized or fight to have you back?”

I scoffed. “Sebastian isn’t the kind of man to apologize, or chase after anyone.”

The words came out more bitterly than I intended it to. I stole a glance again, and Sebastian was still watching.

Xavier’s smile faded when he noticed my tensed state. “Whatreally happened between you?”

I looked down at my plate, unwilling to continue talking about my ex husband who had just entered the restaurant. I knew Xavier had still not noticed him.

Then I sighed. “There’s nothing much to say about it, really.” I said quietly. “One day, Sebastian just decided I was no longer enough for him. Whole thing happened so fast.”

“But you did wanted to stay, right?” he inquired further.

My throat tightened. I was getting really uncomfortable now. And that question hurt me more than it should have. Because the truth was that, in the early days of the divorce, I wishedSebastian would change his mind and let me come back to him.

But I had told myself that I couldn’t go back to him… not with the child I was carrying which he had unknowingly rejected.

Before I could answer, my attention was pulled back to where Sebastian stood, still staring at us. Slowly, I pulled my hand away from Xavier. Shocked by my sudden change in mood, he followed my gaze towards the entrance for whatever might have stolen my smile.

As the two men locked eyes with each other, I began to silently pray that Sebastian would ignore us and simply walk away. Butit was too late. He was already on his way here.

When he stopped just few steps from our table, Xavier looked up at the man. Then he turned to me with a confused look on his face. But he didn’t say anything. And I also remained silent.

“Celeste.” Sebastian then said with an unreadable expression on his face.

The way he said my name, like he was merely acknowledging my presence there, rather than offering any greetings.

“Sebastian.” I responded equally, but struggling internally to put up my straight face.

“Am I interrupting something?” he asked in a sarcastic tone.

“Yes,” I answered before Xavier could say anything. “Clearly, we’re having dinner.”

Sebastian’s expression barely changed, but I noticed how his jaws tighten. “I can see that.”

“Then I’m sure you can excuse us, like the gentleman you are.” I said with a fake smile.

He scoffed. “Well, I’m here for dinner myself.”

“Then you may kindly enjoy your meal at another table.”

For a moment, I thought Sebastian would argue. But he just looked at me with that expression of his I couldn’t quite place.“Come on, Celeste. Are you really still mad at me after all these years?”

That moment, I heard Xavier’s soft laugh. Sebastian noticed it too. He instantly turned toward him. “Something funny, friend?”

I shook my head slightly at Xavier, signaling him to just ignore Sebastian. But I was the one ignored.

“Yes, actually.” Xavier responded after taking a sip of his wine.

“Really? And what’s that?” Sebastian said taking a step forward, his hands resting inside his pockets in a bold show of power.

“Well, for starters…” Xavier began, gently placing the glassback on the table, “the fact that you just asked the woman who you cruelly divorced years ago if she was still angry with you.”

I nearly choked on my own drink. “Xavier.” I said, hoping he would just let it go.

But he just smiled and went on. “No it’s funny, really.”

Sebastian’s face turned cold that moment. “And who the hell areyou?”

“Xavier.” He said, stretching out him hand. “Xavier Cross.”

Sebastian didn’t even bother looking at the handshake being offered to him. He just gazed at the man until Xavier finally pulled his hand away, an amused smirk appearing on his face.

The next second, I looked at Sebastian and what seemed like recognition flashed in his eyes.

Then he tilted his head backwards and asked, “Of Cross industries?”

Xavier nodded his head, the smirk on his face transforming into a proud smile. “In the flesh.”

Sebastian then stepped even closer, now hovering over us.Surprisingly, he extended his own hand forward. “Of course, I’ve heard much about your company. Sebastian Rowe of Rowe industries.”

Xavier looked at the hand for a few seconds. I too paused to see what would happen next. I expected him to  ignore it. After all, Sebastian had ignored his own offer just moments ago.

But instead, Xavier rose to his feet to meet Sebastian’s height, then with a firm grip, accepted the handshake. “I’ve heard a lot about you too.”

At first, both men seemed unwilling to release the other’s hand. The tension between them had become intense. I could even feel the air start to grow thick. I guess that’s what you get when two powerful men are in the same room.

I cleared my throat and they both finally let go. I looked between them and wondered whether I should have stayed in my office that evening. At least there, I would be able to show the door to anyone who misbehaved.

“Sebastian,” I said, turning to him, “your table should be ready. I’m sure one of the waitress can show you to it.”

Sebastian turned his attention back to me. After staring for some seconds like he didn’t know what else to say, his eyes narrowed slightly. Then he finally stepped away from our table.

“Do enjoy your evening.” He said with a slight nod, before walking away to the opposite side of the restaurant.

I watched him walk away. But knowing how Sebastian’s mind works, I knew deep within me that this was far from over.

Celeste’s POV I had a bad feeling about Camille. Ever since she showed up at Éclat and started asking questions about Amanda, I hadn’t been able to relax.I knew that woman well enough to understand that her curiosity was never an innocent one. She always had a reason for doing things, even when she pretended otherwise. And I didn’t like the questions she had asked me. How old was Amanda? Did her father know about her? Why would Camille suddenly be interested in my daughter’s life?First it was Sebastian who found out about her, now his jealous girlfriend? Who else? I just couldn’t shake the feeling that therewas something she was looking for. Something she had no right to know.“You’ve been thinking for the past twenty minutes, and you haven’t turned a single page.” Merida crossed her arms. “Is this about Sebastian or Xavier?”“Neither.”She raised an eyebrow. “Then what is it, Celeste?”I stared at her. Then rubbed my forehead. “Sebastian’s girlfriend, Camille. She came here two da

  • Cry Me a River, Mr Billionaire!    Chapter 14

Camille’s POV I could feel that something was wrong with Sebastian. I had known him for years, and I could tell when something was bothering him. Usually, he hid his feelings behind his work, his expensive suits, and that cold expression that made people think nothing could touch him.But lately, he had become distracted. He spent hours staring at his phone, sometimes quickly putting the device away whenever I approached. He had also started leaving the office earlier than usual, and whenever I asked where he was going, he gave me vague answers. At first, I thought it was work. It had to be. Then I heard Celeste Laurent’s name mentioned during a phone conversation. That was when I knew I had a problem.“Are you going to keep pretending nothing is happening?” I asked him while we were having dinner.Sebastian looked up from his meal. “What are you talking about?”“Celeste.”His expression changed for only a second, but I caught it.“What about her?” he asked nonchalantly.I folded my

  • Cry Me a River, Mr Billionaire!    Chapter 13

Sebastian’s POV I couldn’t believe it that I actually had a daughter. For three daysstraight, that was the only things I could think of. I had a daughter who was six years old, and I had missed every single day of her life.I knew nothing about her. And the worst part was that Celeste had kept it from me all along. I couldn’t blame her for being angry though. I had given her every reason to keep her distancefrom me.But knowing that didn’t make it easier to accept that another man might have been the one helping Amanda blow out her birthday candles or teaching her how to ride a bicycle. The thought made my chest ache.On the fourth day since discovering the shocking news, I returned to Éclat. I didn’t go there to simply talk to Celeste. I was going to demand answers. And I was prepared to do whatever it took to make her give me the answers I needed. Her assistant met me at the reception desk. “You again?” the lady said to me.“It’s Meridith right?”“Merida.” She corrected instantly.

  • Cry Me a River, Mr Billionaire!    Chapter 12

Sebastian’s POV I had spent the last three days thinking about how to destroy Xavier Cross after the night at Eclat. It was not one of my proudest moments, but I couldn’t help it.Every time I closed my eyes, I remembered him punching me my jaw. I wanted badly to punch him back. No. I wanted to do much worse than that.Unfortunately, I had more pressing problems at home.“Are you even listening to me?”I looked up from my phone to find Camille standing in front of my desk with her arms crossed.“What?”Her eyes narrowed. “I have been talking to you for the past ten minutes, Sebastian.”“And I have been trying to work, Camille.”“Since when did work become more important than me? Huh?”I stared at her. Was she being serious right now? Since she had started making my life miserable, I had spent more time avoiding her than doing anything else.Ever since the night at Éclat, she had complained about my late nights, my unanswered calls, and the fact that I no longer gave her the attention

  • Cry Me a River, Mr Billionaire!    Chapter 11

Celeste’s POVI should have known that Xavier’s return back into my life would complicate things. It had been days since the incident at Éclat, where he and Sebastian had nearly torn each other apart in the parking lot.I had hoped the whole thing would end there, but I was starting to realize that nothing involving the two men was ever that simple. Sebastian had called me twice since that night. I ignored both calls.Xavier, on the other hand, had called every evening to check on me. Sometimes, we talked for hours. Other times, he would show up at Éclat with flowers, claiming he was only there because he had nothing better to do.I knew he was lying. And the worst part was that I enjoyed having him around. I even enjoyed it more than I was willing to admit. This afternoon, I was reviewing some documents when Merida walked in without knocking.“Your friend is here.”I barely looked up from my laptop. “Which friend?”“The tall, handsome one who keeps showing up with flowers and distrac

  • Cry Me a River, Mr Billionaire!    Chapter 10

Sebastian’s POVWhen I asked Alice to make a dinner reservation for me at Éclat, I had not imagined that something would ruin my evening. But now I sat alone at my table, my eyes permanently fixed on my ex wife and her date.I had heard about Xavier Cross. Or rather, Cross industries. I had just had the unpleasant opportunity of meeting the man behind the work. Xavier had built quite an impressive reputation in the business world. But tonight he was playing in my territory.I took a sip of my tequila, trying hard to calm myself. My phone suddenly vibrated on the table. I glanced at the screen. Camille. I sighed. She had chosen the worst moment to call me.Without thinking twice, I declined the call and put my phone down. But a few seconds later, it started to ring again. I looked at the screen with irritation. Decline again.I had no patience for her drama tonight. The last thing I wanted was to listen to her complain about something that could easily wait until I returned. My attenti
