LOGINLila's POV “Eat this! Reject it and you'll have to starve for four days or worse still, a whole damned week!!” The guards yelled aggressively, slamming a metal plate against the bars. The food almost spilled on the floor due to the force which he used to throw it by luckily it didn't. The smell hit my nostril immediately. It smells like stale food that was cold, uninviting and not appetizing.I stared at it without moving.“I’m not eating that,” I said firmly. “Darren should do better. Don't you guys have better food to serve prisoners? Even a dog would reject this meal! Y'all should do better and get something decent to eat.”One of the guards scoffed.“And who do you think you are to make demands? huh? You should be grateful for this. This is amongst our best. Prisoners like you rejoice when they get served cold lentils and bread. You should be happy if you see what to eat on a daily basis without working for it. If you don't want to eat, then starve. The food is not for everyone.
Lila's POV “Let me go this minute, Darren, you pathetic son of our father!”My voice echoed across the cold walls as I shouted with every ounce of strength and life in me. But it had bo effect. Hedidn’t flinch. He wouldn't. He's who and wickedness had eaten deep into his core. Instead, that same annoying smile eh had been wearing on his lips since he walked in, remained on his face like he was enjoying every second of it. I knew he was. He loved watching me break. It fed his male ego.He stepped closer to the bars, his eyes scanning me slowly from head to do.“Look at the mess of a person you are. That's why the Alphas were so fast to discard like you like a used product. Worthless and useless. Thank heaven they did. Now I'm no longer indebted to them. I'm a free man and I'm still in charge of you. It's a good thing you were returned back to m before you bore them kids as useless as you are.”“Look at the beast you are. A cowardly dog who barks and goes around eating poop!”“You sti
Lila's POV My gaze first blurred before my head ached badly. I looked around me, refocusing my eyes as I adjusted on the rough ground. Last I remember was running away from the men only to be caught and knocked out. Where am I?I pushed myself up slowly, my body feeling heavy and weak at the same time. I immediately touched my baby bump, my eyes widening as I tried to remember if they did anything to my baby. The ground beneath me was cold and hard. The ground in the woods was the same as where I was right now. The only difference was that this was cremated. I bit my lower lips as I braced myself to stand. Dust stuck in-between my fingers and to my palms as I tried to steady myself. My head throbbed, my throat dry. Everything around me looked unfamiliar.Dark stone walls. No windows. Just a small opening above that let in a little light.I looked outside and realized that the other rooms around me were similar. Dark stone walls, no window and just a little opening.A cell.My hear
Lila's POV Everything happened in a blink of an eye. One minute I was with Claire, telling her about my dream, and the next minute I was in danger of being attacked. The sound came first but bot after Rowan's voice had sounded like a lightning warning us about the impending danger. This was an unprecedented account and thus the shock took us unaware. My eyes scanned the environment and I heard a loud rustle in the bushes adjacent from me. Then I had footsteps that were fast and too many. I could tell that they were fast and would close in on me if I didn't run.My body reacted before my mind did. I grabbed Claire’s hand instantly.“Run,” I whispered. “We need to get out of here immediately before they get us!”“Ma’am…what…what is…..” she started, but I didn’t let her finish.I reached out and wrapped her by the wrist, firmly.“We don't have time for this, Claire. Run!”Claire blinked fast. I dragged her and we quickly turned and ran. This wasn't the kind of war I expected. This was D
Lila's POV I stood up from the bed, my clothes drenched with sweat.“Ma'am….are you okay? You were talking in your sleep” Claire said gently holding my arm as she led me outside to the fresh breeze of dawn. The cool air touched my skin, calming me a little. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. We strolled farther away from the door until we were a few meters away.“I’m fine,” I said, even though my voice sounded weak. “I am perfectly fine. I guess it's just indigestion causing me to have nightmares.”Claire didn’t look convinced. She took out a band she wore around her wrist. She stood behind me and gently packed my hair into a low ponytail. This way, I could feel the breeze on the back of my neck.“You didn’t sound fine. From the look of things, you were screaming and sweating and so uncomfortable I thought you would die in your sleep.” she replied softly. “You kept saying his name. You talked about something very controversial while you slept and I was so scared you were never
Lila's POV “You are going to suffer. I'll send you right to where your parents are. In Hades.” Darren vowed, his knife trained at me.I froze, my breath catching in my throat as his words echoed in my ears. Why threaten to send me to Hades?Only bad people went to Hades, how was he sure our parents were there?Something felt wrong. The statement, the location, his rage. Everything felt odd.Why was I here with him?I looked around, my eyes taking in the surroundings around me.The place was….I had never seen or been here before. I felt troubled. Fear creeping on me slowly. The air in this place was full of dark power….dark energy that wasn't comforting. The sky above looked red, like it was burning and about to rain hailstone. I looked around again realizing that there were no guards or Rowan and house in sight. Just a void that stretched out, an endless expense of land.It was just the two of us. Me… and him and the bae in my womb that I had to protect at any cost.“Darren…” I ca
Lila's POV Three days later.“There’s a meeting you're going to attend later at noon and it's a very important meeting because the pack council of elders have raised a petition that concerns us all” Marcus spoke up at the breakfast table, his voice steady and calm as he glanced at me across the ta
Marcus' POV “Are you thinking what I'm thinking? I have this premonition that someone caused Lila to lose her foot and slide off the stairs.” I said as I went through a file on my desk.“Are you listening to yourself, Marcus? What the hell are you even talking about? Who did that to Lila knowing f
Marcus' POV I noticed strange patterns I wasn't sure about. Lately, Lila had grown so comfortable around Daniel or maybe I was assuming things. Today I have to attend some business dealings with Daniel at the office. “Daniel and I won't be around for most hours of this day. We have this very imp
