Chapter Four

Nathan

Convincing Ryan has proved to be harder than I thought, Ryan was the easy-going one while Niel was an impossible nut to crack.

I constantly blessed the goddess that Ryan was the eldest of the twin else I'd be at crossroads when I chose the alpha. It wastk.eto form an alliance and Ryan wasn't ready to concur.

I figured it would be best to get the only person in the world who could control him to convince him.

I contacted Niel through the mind-link immediately Ryan left my presence angrily. The message was to try convince Ryan otherwise. I was getting older and ached to see my next generation, besides; the girl was famous for her battle skills which will prove to be useful for the pack.

I hoped Niel would be sensible enough to convince his brother.

Ryan

"Get up." I heard in my head.

I moaned as I enjoyed my sleep and Drew the blankets over my head.

"It's morning already." The voice insisted.

"I know, let me sleep for few hours more, I'll be up by then." I whined.

The voice chuckled.

"You have exactly three minutes to get up else I'll let your bride-to-be in your room." The voice warned.

I scoffed.

"She doesn't know the way to my room, besides; what would she be doing here?" I pouted.

"She's requesting for your presence, I'll send her in then." The voice said.

I sneered and closed my eyes to continue sleeping but then I heard a knock on the door.

"Go away!" I yelled.

"My Alpha, there's a woman here who demands your presence." A maid announced.

"Tell her to go away, I'm not seeing anyone this morning." I said.

"She said she's your fiance." The maid relayed.

My eyes widened in shock and I almost jumped out of the bed, I rubbed my eyes with the back of my palm to ensure I wasn't dreaming. I heard a familiar chuckle in my head and I scowled.

"Told you didn't I?" Niel said mockingly.

"You little snitch! You should have Insisted, how am I to see the girl looking like this?" I asked worriedly.

"You want to look nice for her? That's sweet and loving of you." Niel teased.

"Shut up." I threw at him.

He laughed heartily.

"No need to look like an alpha, you could look Haggard and give her more reasons to reject this alliance." Niel advised.

"That's a horribly good idea, but I'll pass, my reputation is worth more." I replied.

"So you'll go out looking like that?" He mocked.

"Yes thank you, now get out of my head!" I said and cut off the link.

I chuckled as I checked my reflection in he mirror, I could easily pass for a guard who just finished his morning routine.

I neglected my looks and ran out of the room and increased my pace to go meet the lady. I remember the maid saying she was in the guest house.

I approached the guest house and before I could knock on the door; it burst open right in front of me, I lost my balance and almost fell backwards but a firm hand held me.

I looked up to meet the most beautiful pair of eyes I'd ever seen my whole life. She smiled which warmed my heart and helped me on my feet. I blushed as I was ashamed a lady had helped me regain my composure.

I cleared my throat to cover up for the awkwardness and bowed slightly.

"Good morning Milady." I greeted.

"Good morning noble Sir, were you sent here by the alpha to get me?" She asked nicely.

I was about to rebuff her claims but her smile changed my mind.

"Do come in please, I'd love to ask a few questions about him in the first place, I can't wait to see him." She said longingly.

I chuckled, I was beginning to like this fiance of mine, I stepped into the room and she left the door slightly ajar which shows her dignity and smartness.

"Take a seat." She offered.

I smiled and sat on a chair while she stood.

"I'm sorry to ask these but what exactly does the alpha hate? How does he look? Is it true he's about to die? I heard he's pretty old and not attractive to the eye, you do understand my pain right? How can a young lady like me full of life and strength get married off to a man on his deathbed, isn't that just unfair? I came here to convince him to break the so called hypocritical marriage pact! I cannot waste my youth like this!" She said all at once.

She bit her nails nervously at intervals as well and she looked very cute while doing it, she saw my expression and panicked.

"I'm sorry, have I said too much?" She asked nervously.

I cleared my throat and sternly spoke.

"It should be known to you that I'm the Alpha's loyal subject and would report every word of yours to him, how can you pour all that out to me, you don't even know who I am or what I'm capable of." I said coyly.

Her face fell and I felt guilty.

"It's true but I just don't know, something drew me to you and I have a feeling that you're a good person and can be trusted." She said truthfully.

I cleared my throat and stood up, I couldn't contain the emotions coursing through me.

"I'll do well to relay your message to the alpha, he wants to see you at his Chambers in an hour's time." I said with a straight face and left without giving her a chance to speak.

I left the room with my mind pounding, I contacted my maids through the mind-link and ordered they prepare my bath and clothes. My heart was thumping, I'd never felt this excited.

Helene

I hit my head after the guard left.

'Stupid girl! What were you thinking spilling everything out to that man, have you forgotten your mannerisms?' I cussed at myself.
