Drasa’s POV
I dragged my exhausted ass back to the hostel after telling Cassian exactly where he could shove his party invitation. The audacity of that guy thinking he could just declare me his "girlfriend" after calling me a slut and expect me to play along like some kind of accessory.
"Fuck off, Cassian. I'm not following you anywhere," I'd snapped at him, and even when he got that stubborn look on his face the one that probably worked on other girls I made myself crystal clear. I wasn't interested in being anyone's fake girlfriend, especially not his.
By the time I made it back to my dorm room, it was already evening and I felt like I'd been hit by a truck. Thankfully, my roommate wasn't there. I didn't have the energy for small talk or explanations about why I looked like death warmed over.
I collapsed onto my bed, finally allowing myself to process the morning's chaos. Just as I was settling into the quiet, my phone started ringing.
"Hello?" I answered groggily.
"Drasa, it's Amelia. Don't bother coming in to work today."
I sat up, suddenly alert. "What? Why? Did I do something wrong?"
"No, no, nothing like that," Amelia's voice sounded stressed. "The boss owes some people money, and they showed up at the club this morning causing a scene. Broke some tables, scared the customers... it's a mess. We're closed until further notice."
I stared at the ceiling, not sure whether to be happy or devastated. On one hand, free weekend. On the other hand, no paycheck.
"I... okay. Thanks for letting me know."
"sorry. I know you need the hours. Hopefully we'll be back open by Monday."
After hanging up, I lay there for a few more minutes, trying to decide how I felt about having the entire weekend to myself. Eventually, my growling stomach made the decision for me.
The school café was busier than usual for a Saturday afternoon. As soon as I walked in, I felt the familiar weight of stares following me. People always gawked at my silver hair like I was some kind of circus act. I'd learned to ignore it, but today it felt more intense somehow.
I grabbed a sandwich and found a corner table, eating quickly while pretending not to notice the whispers and pointing. By the time I finished, I was ready to retreat back to my room.
my roommate still wasn't back when I returned, which was fine by me. I was emotionally drained and physically exhausted. I crawled back into bed and fell into a deep, dreamless sleep.
When I woke up, the room was pitch black. I fumbled for my phone 7:30 PM. I'd slept for hours.
"Oh good, you're alive," my roommate voice came from across the room. She was sitting at her vanity, applying makeup in the glow of her ring light.
"Was I snoring?" I asked, still groggy.
She laughed. "No, but you've been dead to the world for like four hours. I was starting to wonder if you were pregnant or something."
"What? No!" I sat up quickly, heat rushing to my cheeks. "Definitely not pregnant."
She paused her mascara application to give me a look. "Relax. Stop acting like such a virgin."
I was indeed a virgin, but there was no way I was admitting that to her. Instead, I changed the subject.
"Where are you going this late?" I asked, taking in her carefully applied makeup and the party dress laid out on her bed.
"A pool party. You know, the one everyone's been talking about?" She turned back to the mirror. "You interested?"
My stomach flipped. So it was the same party Cassian had mentioned. "No, I'm good."
"Come on," she said, now working on her eyeshadow. "When's the last time you did something fun? And before you say I'm being nosy, I'm just looking out for you. You spend way too much time sleeping."
I wanted to go. God, I wanted to go so badly it physically hurt. I was tired of being the girl who stayed home, tired of being invisible, tired of letting my fears control my life.
But every time I considered it, Elara's face flashed in my mind. The humiliation from that last party, the laughter, the way everyone had looked at me like I was pathetic...
"I can't," I whispered.
She stopped what she was doing and turned to face me fully. "What happened to you? And don't say nothing, because normal people don't react to party invitations like they're death sentences."
I was quiet for a long moment, debating how much to tell her. Finally, I said, "Someone... hurt me. At a party. Made me look stupid in front of everyone. I just... I can't go through that again."
Her expression softened. "Hey, look at me. You can't let one asshole ruin everything fun for the rest of your life. Besides, I'll be there. I'll look out for you."
"I don't know..."
"What's the worst that could happen? If it sucks, we leave. But what if it doesn't suck? What if you actually have a good time?"
I stared at her, torn between want and fear. The rational part of my brain knew she was right. I couldn't hide forever. But the scared part of me wanted to pull the covers over my head and pretend the world didn't exist.
"I promise I'll stick with you," she said gently. "And if anyone gives you trouble, they'll have to deal with me."
Something in her tone made me believe her.
"Okay," I said before I could change my mind. "I'll go."
Cassian's POVI hadn't planned on coming to this party at all. When Kai first mentioned it, I'd given him some noncommittal response about maybe showing up later if I felt like it.But then my phone buzzed with a message from Kai, and everything changed. The photo he'd sent made me stop dead in my tracks. It was Drasa, but not the Drasa I was used to seeing around campus. This version of her was transformed, her silver hair was intricately braided in a style that looked almost ethereal, and she was wearing something that actually showed off her body. She looked absolutely stunning. More than stunning."Fuck," I muttered under my breath, staring at the photo for longer than I probably should have. Before I even realized what I was doing, I was grabbing my swim shorts and heading out the door.I didn't even remember the drive to the party. One minute I was looking at Kai's message, and the next I was walking into the pool area, scanning the crowd for silver hair and that face that had
Drasa's POVThe pool party was in full swing now, with music pumping and people laughing as they splashed around in the crystal-clear water. Maya had been persistent about getting me to actually swim instead of just sitting on the edge like a wallflower."Come on, Drasa!" she called out, already waist-deep in the water. "You can't come to a pool party and not get in the pool. That's like going to a restaurant and not eating!"I was still feeling self-conscious about everything, my hair, my outfit, the earlier confrontation with Elara but Maya's enthusiasm was infectious. Reluctantly, I slipped into the water, the cool temperature immediately making me feel more relaxed than I had all evening."See? Isn't this better?" Maya grinned, splashing me playfully. Before I could answer, one of the servers approached the edge of the pool with a tray of colorful drinks. The glasses were tall and decorated with little umbrellas and fruit garnishes, clearly some kind of cocktail."Ladies?" the ser
Writer's POVElara's eyes lit up with recognition as she took in Amelia's nearly naked form. A slow, calculated smile spread across her face. "Amelia!" she exclaimed, her voice dripping with fake sweetness. "I didn't expect to see you here. You look... well, you certainly know how to make an entrance."Amelia tilted her head slightly, her expression unreadable as she looked Elara up and down with deliberate slowness. The crowd around them seemed to hold its collective breath, sensing something was about to happen."Thank you," Amelia replied smoothly. "I have to say, that's quite an outfit you're wearing. Very... fashionable."Elara practically glowed at what she interpreted as a compliment, her confidence surging. She did a little turn, showing off her designer bikini, clearly feeling like she was winning some kind of invisible competition."This old thing?" Elara said with false modesty, running her hands over the expensive fabric. "It's just a little something I picked up. Designe
Drasa's POVI looked up to see Kai holding the microphone, his eyes wide with what looked like genuine surprise as he took in my transformation. The spotlight from the stage area seemed to follow his gaze, illuminating me like I was some kind of exhibit on display. Maya's hand immediately found mine, her fingers warm and reassuring as they interlaced with my own. She could sense my growing panic, the way my breathing was becoming shallow and rapid. Without hesitation, she raised her voice loud enough for everyone in the immediate area to hear."Hey, Kai! Continue with the program and stop eating Drasa with your eyes!" she called out boldly, her tone carrying both authority and protectiveness. "Give the girl some space to breathe!"I felt a surge of gratitude toward Maya that was almost overwhelming. Here was someone who barely knew me, standing up for me in front of a crowd of people, refusing to let me be turned into some kind of spectacle. Her boldness in that moment made me feel l
Drasa's POVThe moment I agreed to go, panic set in. I stood still staring at my pathetic excuse for a wardrobe, suddenly regretting every life choice that had led me to this moment."Okay, what should I wear?" I asked, pulling open my tiny closet with all the enthusiasm of someone approaching their own execution.I grabbed the first things I saw, a pair of baggy cargo pants that were probably two sizes too big and an oversized hoodie that could double as a tent. They were comfortable, safe, and most importantly, they covered every part of my body.My roommate took one look at my outfit choice and burst into laughter."Oh my God, no!" she gasped between giggles. "You cannot, and I mean cannot…. wear that to a pool party. You look like you're about to go camping, not socialize with actual human beings."I felt my cheeks burn with embarrassment. "This is what I have," I mumbled, clutching the clothes to my chest like armor. "I don't really have party clothes.""That's not party clothes,
