I look to my side for Nicolette, but I just feel cold. I blink my eyes and see that she is no longer in my arms... it must be a habit of giving me have heart attacks in the early morning? If so, I will find a way to punish her.

I get up from the ground and stretch, and the fire has gone out. I pick up my backpack and turn myself into a wolf. My sense of smell has intensified, and I start looking for a trace of Nicolette. I am about to move when someone falls on me.
