MasukUnlike Kael, who loves to push all of her buttons, his younger sister Nadia is a sweetheart. At 5'6, she is beautiful, just like her brother Kael. She is playful and bold. She is a year older than Sage. Unlike Kael, Nadia and Sage clicked instantly. If Nadia set her mind on something, she would make it happen no matter what. Stubbornness is a trait of the Black family. That's why Sage found herself sitting on the living room couch which was pushed against the far wall, while Nadia was dancing on the makeshift dance floor in the middle.
"Sage, you look beautiful today," one of the guys who was trying to flirt with Sage complimented. Sage gave him a sweet smile in return. She felt flattered. Not just him, more than a few guys have asked her for a dance. They are all from the same University as her. Nadia is popular, so half the students from the university are her friends or acquaintances. Sage was wearing a short sleeveless pink dress with spaghetti straps. The dress hugged her frame to her waist before flaring down till mid thighs. The deep 'V' neck in the front showed a hint of cleavage. Her long, toned legs were on display for everyone to see. If she bent down a little, she might even flash her lacy matching panties. Sage is not the bold type. She would never wear something like this if not for Nadia Black. What Sage would never admit is that she was stunned when Kael refused to glance below her chin despite her naked state. He was clearly very turned on by that She dragon last night. But when Sage was standing naked, he looked uninterested. That made Sage feel insecure. It's not like she has any romantic thoughts about Kael, but still. He is a guy, and a man whore. If he didn't even took a casual glance, then that made her feel insecure. 'Was he being a gentleman?' she wondered. Nadia winked at her playfully from the dance floor. She was wearing a black tube dress that hugged her frame like a second skin. "Now come on, don't sit there. Let's drink and dance." Nadia linked her arm with Sage before taking her to the dance floor. Sage noticed Laila, Claire, and Lucas among others. "I heard my brother's laptop had a mishap. I missed the fun." Nadia winked mischievously. Sage giggled with mirth until she remembered how Kael confronted her. "He was being an ass," she muttered. Nadia giggled with amusement and handed over another pink drink to Sage. Sage glanced at the drink suspiciously. The last time Nadia threw a similar party, she mixed different alcohols and called it alcohol punch. Nadia gave an innocent smile. "This time it's just a mild alcohol. You'll be fine," she assured. Sage is not so sure about that. But still, she decided to drink it anyway. Vanessa is recovering, and she finished her exams. It definitely calls for a celebration. "Damn, look at those men. They are practically salivating at you. Girl, you won't be having a problem losing your virginity tonight," Nadia teased Sage. Sage rolled her eyes, but her cheeks tinted pink. Nadia was right. She was getting much more attention than usual. "Girls, let's dance." A guy whom Sage recognized as Mason, who is the son of Alexander's good friend, invited them. Nadia grabbed Sage by the hand and pulled her along. Sage had no other option but to follow after Nadia. Sage finished her 2nd drink and ditched the glass before dancing with Nadia. She was having fun after so long. Laila, Claire, and Lucas were seen giving dirty looks, but she ignored them. The music was loud, the vibe was right, and she could feel alcohol evaporating her reservations. A guy joined her on the dance floor and started dancing with her. She lost count of how much time passed, how many drinks she had, or for how long she danced. But when the guy she was dancing with started touching her hips, a sense of uneasiness sobered her up a little. "No," she pushed him away weakly. But the guy was not taking the hint. When he tried to kiss Sage, a punch landed on the guy, square across his face. He fell down on the floor holding his bleeding mouth. A hush fell over the floor. The music was suddenly muted, and everyone became quiet. The air around them suddenly felt heavy. "Brother? Didn't you tell me that you weren't coming home tonight?" Nadia complained. Everyone could feel Kael's intimidating aura. He looked pissed. "Prince Kael," Laila greeted Kael shyly. But Kael ignored her. "Kael?" Sage giggled before throwing herself at him, clearly drunk. Kael looked taken aback, but did push her away. He wrapped his arms around her waist, holding her in place. Nadia looked stunned, and so did Laila, Claire, and the others. It's known to everyone that Kael and Sage are at each other's throats almost every single day. So Sage's sudden hug was unexpected. "You think I look so unappealing? Why didn't you look at me back in my room? You scolded me and just left?" Sage complained. Kael cleared his throat, clearly surprised. No one understood what Sage was talking about, but he did. Definitely, he was not expecting that. "You are drunk," he muttered before lifting her in his arms, bridal style. "No," Sage slurred. "Party is over. Get out," he snapped at everyone. Within seconds, everyone left. Laila lingered behind, trying to make sense of what she was seeing. "Prince Kael, I will call a maid to take care of Sage. You don't have to do that," Laila offered. Kael gave her a cold stare. "Since when did I permit you to tell me what to do and what not to do? Mind your business," Kael replied coldly before he carried Sage to her room. Laila clenched her fists in jealousy. "Nadia, I am your future sister-in-law. This is unacceptable," she complained. Nadia rolled her eyes at Laila. "What's the fuss is all about? Sage is drunk, so my brother is helping her. You are not my Sister-in-law yet. So don't throw a tantrum now. Thanks for coming," Nadia replied before she quickly left. She is planning to go back to her room before Kael comes back and gives her an earful. Laila looked upset. But she couldn't do anything. So she stormed out in anger."Now what schemes are you up to?" Ashley accused Sage. Sage was not expecting Ashley to go on full Psycho mode on her so early in the morning. She already had a messy head and now Ashley's loud voice and her 'I know it all' attitude were grating on her nerves. This is something both she and her witch agreed upon. They didn't like Ashley's attitude, not one bit. "Aunt, what is this nonsense all about? Have you lost your mind?" Kael snapped at Ashley. Ashley shifted her attention towards Kael, who was now standing directly in front of Sage in a protective stance. "You are the most powerful black dragon who was ever born. Our dragon elders saw your birth chart and confirmed it. But looks like they are wrong. You are protecting a cheating and lying bitch who is fooling your entire family with her non-existent medical knowledge, and you are letting her? I think you might be strong, but you are still stupid..." Ashley started insulting Kael. Sage had had enough. She stepped out from
The next morning, Sage woke up to the strong smell of disinfectants and an ache in her head. Ot didn't take her long before everything came flooding back to her mind. She didn't immediately open her eyes even though she woke up. Everything happened so quickly last night that she didn't get enough time to understand what was happening. When she was born, she was a complete witch. Practical, young, and spoiled. She had no conflict between her human self and her witch self. Because they were one. But after Alexander locked up her witch, she had to live, think, and feel like a human. After so many years, she got used to being a human. Soft, spoiled, and cheeky. But after her witch woke up, Sage is having a hard time keeping her emotions at a practical level. She couldn't decide everything on a profit-or-loss basis. When she was young, she never had a problem staying unaffected by others' pain. Because she never knew how to feel. But now that she knows how emotions feel, she doesn't know h
"Is it? I cannot thank you enough, Sage." Alexander looked emotional. His teary eyes said everything he was not. He is happy that his wife doesn't have to endure so much pain anymore. He is happy that his wife will be safe now. "Yes," she replied before she pulled a loaded syringe out of her jeans pocket and injected the medicine into Vanessa. The vial was loaded with a crude version of Dead Roots essence, which she didn't have time to refine. Her hands shook while she was injecting Vanessa. Her witch is refusing to let Sage help the dragon queen. 'We should only cure her. If she is in pain from eating something she shouldn't, then it's her fault. Why help her? She should suffer. You are becoming weak' her witch is wreaking havoc inside Sage's head. But Sage remained completely composed. "I think she should feel less pain now. I will leave you both alone now." With that said, Sage left the hospital room. Her witch was so mad that Sage was unable to keep it under control. Her
That night, as Sage had warned Alexander, Vanessa was in too much pain. The medicine Vanessa had been taking was clashing with the moong bean she ate, no matter how little. Her skin felt like it was burning all over, as if she were being burned down in fire again, like all those years ago when she lost the ability to stay in her beast form mid-flight and accidentally fell into the fire caused by little Sage. That was an accident. But Vanessa's condition was bad before the Blacks even knew about Sage's existence. "Alexander, I am burning again. The fire, it's eating me alive. Please, I can't take this pain. Please kill me," Vanessa cried in agony. Alexander looked helpless and sad. "Nessa, don't say that. Just this one night. Hold it in. You endured pain for years now. I am here. We can do this," he tried to make her feel better. But Vanessa is in so much agony that she couldn't take it. "I can't. Please, kill me," she begged him. Alexander now has tears in his eyes. "Nessa, do
Both Kael and Sage were seen rushing into a hospital room. Kael received a call from Alexander saying that Vanessa had spat blood and was now unconscious. Her sister Ashley admitted her to the hospital. When Sage heard that, she was confused. She knew Vanessa was almost completely healed. So she shouldn't spit blood anymore. So Sage couldn't understand what went wrong. By the time they entered the hospital room, Ashley, Cindy, and Alexander were standing there. Alexander looked pale and worried. Ashley looked a little shaken, while Cindy looked scared. Sage ignored them all and rushed to check Vanessa first. "Strange," Sage muttered when she couldn't feel any abnormalities in Vanessa's pulse or blood pressure readings. But Vanessa's lips turned a shade of light blue. Sage leaned down and sniffed Vanessa's breath to check what went wrong. While Sage was checking, Cindy couldn't take it any longer. She roughly pulled Sage back and away from Vanessa. "It's her; this stupid bitch
In Westmore, Vanessa is receiving an unexpected guest that evening. Ashley Sinclair, Vanessa Black's elder sister, arrived with her daughter, Cindy. "Sister, how are you?" Vanessa hugged Ashley warmly. "I am fine. I am worried about you. I received a call from your husband a couple of days ago. I heard you moved out of the Black Manor. It took me two days to finally figure out where you could be. Vanessa, finally, you made a very good decision. That Alexander is no good. It's good that you saw him for who he is," Ashley let her dislike for Alexander known. Vanessa looked a little uncomfortable. She knows that her elder sister never really liked Alexander. Vanessa couldn't understand what transpired between them, but neither of them liked each other. Alexander only tolerated Ashley for Vanessa. "Sister, let's not talk about that now. Let's talk about something else." Vanessa tried to steer the conversation away from Alexander. She cannot openly admit that she didn't fall out
