Zirah’s POV

Wallowing in my room for three whole days was not my thing, even when my abusive stepfather tried to punish me by locking me in my room, I always found a way to escape.

For the first day, I was so angry that I refused to go outside even for a meal but by evening when my stomach started protesting and crying out for food, I decided to go outside even if it meant having to see that liar 's face.

I would just ignore him, I thought.

Only as I was about to open my door, a knocking sound.

Thinking he was the one, I ignored it and continued sulking until a lady's voice called out,

"Ma'am? Are you in there?"

I leaped off the bed in curiosity and went over to the door. Sadly, it was not those types that had a peephole that you could use.

I swung the door open and a lady in a uniform I recognized to be the housekeeper's clothes, smiled politely at me and handled a well-covered tray.

"I'm very sorry for the delay, ma." She bowed deeply in apology.
