LYRA'S POV "How long before we get home Edgar?" I squinted my eyes at the rays of sunlight filtering in on my eyes through the car window as I asked that question. "How am I supposed to know? I'm not a regular driver." He retorted while flexing his shoulders. "A simple 'i don't know' would have made a better answer." I said with a tone of correction. Everything else he said was just a waste of breath and my own precious time. I placed my head on the car's headrest and leaned backwards closing my eyes, that horrible pain I felt last night through this morning hadn't returned thankfully. However, it was highly concerning that just like the pain had vanished, my connection with Thorne was also gone, like he had cut me away. I knew it was meant to protect me and to ensure that I didn't feel any of the pain he felt but it also made me feel nervous about not being able to connect with him. Calling him was out of the question, I had tried many times and every single
DUNCAN'S POV "Hey dad." I let out a groan automatically assuming that the voice belonged to Sophia, well, not until my brain registered the word 'dad' which ended the very short sentence. "What is it, Lydia?" I asked turning on my back to catch a glimpse at her. Lydia had her blonde hair ties up in two pony tails with a pink fluffy scrunchie, she was also dressed in a pink bulky gown along with some bangles to complement. I watched as her face twisted in confusion, "What is it?" I asked again not realizing that the problem was me. "Something's wrong with your face." She muttered. "I know." I smiled weakly. "Your mum mentioned that it looks ugly." "No it doesn't." She replied sharply. "I mean… you don't look good but you're still handsome." She mentioned, I returned her good gesture with a smile. "That's sweet of you, dear. So why are you here?" Even though Lydia was most times in my room when she wasn't with her friends, there was always a
SOPHIA'S POV "You're certainly not turning into a vampire now, are you?" I gritted at Duncan as I pulled down the blinds to block out every ray of sunlight. I wasn't hoping he would hear it but somehow he did. "No, but if I were, yours would be the first neck I would avoid." He retorted. I laughed out loud at that. "Then it means I'm safe, from your infected tongue of course?" I walked to the other side of the king sized bed and pulled down the curtains on his side. "Can you quiet down for once, Sophia? You're adding to my misery!" He groaned. "No, I can't. I'm not the one with a swollen lip who finds it hard to complete his own sentence." I chuckled. "The boils around your mouth are getting really, really big, you want me to call Selena?" I suggested. "I would appreciate it only if you're doing it out of the kindness of your heart." He turned his face away from me after that and closed his eyes. I only shrugged, it was partly my fault that
LIRA'S POV I couldn't sleep last night, not after what had happened and certainly not when Patrick made another outrageous trip back to my house to threaten me. I couldn't endure this anymore, moving over to the Blood moon pack was easily the worst decision I had ever made in my entire life. I thought I would get the peace and quiet and happiness I always wanted but instead, all I got was having a ravaged beast back in my life and someone else's life in my hands. I had no idea what was inside that syringe but that thing, whatever it was, was now inside Thorne and all evidence would trace back to me. I immediately shut my eyes closed thinking about that, that couldn't happen. Not after everything I had done to keep myself away from situations like this. If only I had just listened to my father and stayed away from Patrick years back, none of this would be happening and I would still be happy in my father's pack and I certainly wouldn't be as helpless as I was right now.
THORNE'S POV My whole body was covered with sweat and they were slicky not to mention the fact that my whole body felt like they were being pricked in the sides by micro sharp needles. And it hurt like hell, I could feel my muscles twitching continuously and it was not a surprise that I couldn't sleep during the first part of the night. I had been trashing around in bed, groaning in pain that had no preamble. It wasn't until Tank came in to check on me in the middle of the night and gave some kind of miracle balm which he claimed healed all kinds of pain. Well, I had to commend him, the pain healed at first but apparently, it was back again and even worse. I couldn't move my body without feeling pain and this morning when I woke up, I had no other choice but to shut Lyra out. I couldn't bate to allow her pass through what I was going through and as long as the mate connection was open, she would feel every bit of the pain that I felt. I tried to remove the be
LYRA'S POV "Are you done?" Edgar asked peeping in through the wardroom door. "Yes." I replied through gritted teeth. "Also, I think it's best you make it a custom to always knock before asking such questions." I added as he walked inside. He totally ignored me though and went to take a seat, again by the door side. "The doctor would be in to check on you any second from now." "Check on me?" I repeated. "But I'm fine, I'm totally alright. It's like nothing ever happened to me." I argued. Well, asides the fatigue which served as a constant reminder, there was nothing else. "Look, I don't have to tell you that it's custom. It doesn't matter if you feel like you've just gotten out of a shower." He shrugged. "He still has to check on you." "Great!" I said with a sigh. "Let's just hope it's fast." I sat back on the bed fiddling my purse and as if on cue. The doctor walked in at the right moment. "Please lie back." He muttered as he walked up to me. I heeded him hesitan
