THIRTY

Sorcha and Starr were singing along to a nineties pop, while Sorcha drove them to a eatery of her choice. Starr had wanted her to be comfortable, so she had choose the eatery she wanted to go to and what she wanted to eat. Their voice had gone higher, and they both had a wide smile on. It was a song their dad had played a lot when they were younger. He played it on weekends, so they could all sing and dance to it. He would lift them from the ground, while they took turns on who he was going to throw and twirl, their laugher echoing around the house. That was happiness to Starr, till she grew and life changed. “I miss him,” Sorcha had suddenly said, causing the ambience of the vehicle to move from way up there, to down there.

Starr went shut, making Sorcha think she had said something wrong. Her heart began to beat in reminder that, she could send Starr back into the cave she had been in. But then, Starr smiled as she replied, “Me too.”
