Janet’s POV

My grip tightening on my bag as I stared at the woman in front of me. Mrs. Caroline. Her blonde hair was styled in an impeccable bob , with her subtle layers that framed her heart shaped face.

I had no patience left, nor energy for her cruel words.

Mrs. Caroline’s nostrils flared. “How dare you, Janet?” she snarled. “How dare you talk back to me like that?” Her eyes searched mine, like she was trying to figure out where I found the audacity to stand up to her.

“Maybe you should mind your own business,” I said, turning to leave.

The slap landed before I even saw it coming.

A sharp sting burned across my cheek. My head snapped to the side.

“I can’t wait for Rowan to throw you out,” she spat, her voice dripping with hatred. “I wonder what Grandma saw in you that made her force my son into this marriage. You are nothing, Janet. Just a poor girl from the streets. You never belonged here.”

She spat again . " Always know your place , just because you are married

  • DIVORCED, BUT SPOILED BY MY FIVE BROTHERS    Chapter 32

Janet's Point of ViewI stepped down from the cab I took from Rowan's estate this morning. It was already 10 AM—Grandma had insisted I wait for breakfast, and I was really worried about what my brothers would say. It pained me that I'm already lying to them, I can't afford to lie to them again. As I walked up to the front door, I was greeted with a warm smile from Jasper, who was standing in the doorway."Janet!" he called out, his face lighting up. "There you are. How are you? Was your night okay?"He pulled me into a big hug, and I could feel how genuinely happy he was to see me."I'm fine," I said, though I felt tired from the emotional night with Rowan."Come on inside," Jasper said, leading me through the door. "Everyone's been waiting for you."As we walked into the living room, I saw William, Dickson, and Peter all stand up with huge smiles on their faces."Janet!" Peter rushed over and hugged me tight. "We missed you!""It was only one night," I laughed, but I was touched by t

  • DIVORCED, BUT SPOILED BY MY FIVE BROTHERS    Chapter 31

Janet's Point of ViewI was shocked to hear that Grandma was sick—and even more shocked that I was just hearing about it now. All this time Rowan had been trying to get me to attend her birthday party. Was this the reason? And he never once mentioned it?“Grandma is sick and you're just telling me now?” I said, my voice shaking with anger. If she’s truly sick, why did Rowan threaten to sabotage my career just to get me to that party? Why not simply tell me the truth? And what the hell does her illness have to do with our divorce? The questions were tightening in my head. I had no idea what kind of game he was playing here.Rowan sat up from the bed and turned to face me. He already looked tired—but not nearly as tired as I felt.“Grandma has a heart condition that requires surgery,” he said quietly. “But she’s refusing. Even after we contacted the best surgeons in the country, she still won’t go through with it.”“Why would she refuse surgery?” I asked, confused.“She insists we get b

  • DIVORCED, BUT SPOILED BY MY FIVE BROTHERS    Chapter 30

Rowan's Point of ViewI couldn't take my eyes off Janet. The woman sitting on that couch didn’t look like the Janet I used to know. Or maybe she never was that woman to begin with. Maybe I was the fool who believed the image I built for her. The lazy, good-for-nothing girl my family plucked from the gutter and handed a marriage certificate like it was charity.I used to think I knew everything about her. Her moods, her limits, the way she’d flinch when my mother made a remark, the way she’d retreat into silence when things got too hard. I thought I’d seen the full extent of her.But a few hours ago, she shattered that illusion. The way she calmed that hysterical woman not like someone who got lucky, but like someone trained, professional, damn near clinical. There was control in her voice. Composure in her body language. A sharpness in her eyes I’d never seen before. It was almost... mesmerizing.I really didn't believe Janet was a real counselor. Hell, I thought that Edward must’ve

  • DIVORCED, BUT SPOILED BY MY FIVE BROTHERS    Chapter 29

Janet's Point of ViewI stood there watching as they wheeled Mrs. Henderson out to the ambulance. Her words kept playing in my mind: "Your mother used to say the same things." Who was she talking about? My birth mother who had been bedridden for so long? Or my birth parents?Jasper had mentioned earlier when we first met that they traveled and would return soon, but I had never met them. I didn't know what kind of people they were. The uncertainty made me uncomfortable and tied my stomach in knots.I tried to calm myself. The woman wasn't in her right state of mind. She must have been hallucinating. That had to be it."Janet, dear!"I turned to see Grandma calling me over. She was beaming with pride."Come here, my wonderful girl," Grandma said, pulling me into another hug. "I am so proud of how you handled that situation. You were amazing!""Thank you, Grandma," I said, trying to smile. "I just did what anyone would do.""No, no," Grandma shook her head. "Not anyone could have done t

  • DIVORCED, BUT SPOILED BY MY FIVE BROTHERS    Chapter 0028

Janet's Point of ViewI watched Rowan as he sit beside me looking so perfect, like the good husband every woman would want. But what exactly was he trying to pull here? I saw him clear his throat, preparing to tell his lie."It wasn't a big deal," he said to Grandma, his voice smooth. "I skipped our anniversary dinner, and I didn't know Janet was preparing something special that night. If I had known, I would have canceled all my meetings."He paused and pulled me closer to his side. I felt the warmth I used to desire most those days I seek for his attention but now I felt trapped."I keep telling Janet we can have more anniversaries together in the future, but she keeps pounding on this one." he continued.I was shocked at those words. What did he mean by that? More anniversaries in the future? Are we not ending this marriage? What was he talking about?Grandma shook her head at Rowan. "That's not enough Rowan. Janet left everything she had to do and put effort into making dinner for

  • DIVORCED, BUT SPOILED BY MY FIVE BROTHERS    Chapter 0027

Janet's Point of ViewI stepped down in front of Bellevue Estate, the address Rowan had texted me three days ago after that terrible scene at the clinic. The memory still made my stomach tight with anger. I didn't want to come—not because of Rowan's threats, but because Grandma Stella was the only member of the Thayer family who had ever treated me like real family. She deserved better than to have her birthday ruined by our drama.I was free this weekend anyway. Jasper had wanted one of my brothers to come with me, but I told him it would be fine. I lied, saying I was attending as a guest. I didn't want my new family to have anything to do with Rowan or his family. The banquet hall looked breathtaking. White and gold decorations covered everything, with beautiful roses and lilies in tall crystal vases. Chandeliers hung from the ceiling, casting soft light that made everything glow. It really showed how much they loved Grandma Stella. Of course Rowan would host the party at one of his
