Chapter 19 Devil in the Desert

Selene woke up to the noise coming from the outside of her window. She grunted in annoyance and covered her head with her pillow, but the laughters and chatters did not stop. Irritated, she sat up, yawning, her neck and back were in pain because she fell asleep in a wrong posture all night.

She walked to her windows and her brows straightened when she saw the nuns and helpers decorating the small quadrangle in front of the church. Balloons and triangle banners in different hues of red, blue, and yellows filled the place, tightly tied on bamboos creating borders. Several long wooden tables were lined up and one by one, helpers filled them with snacks and food packed in styrofoam boxes.

Selene took a quick shower and dressed in her comfortable clothes, she put her painting materials in one bag and headed downstairs.
