Chapter 16 A New Start
“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dearest Selene…”
Selene laughed when she saw Faye and Calix in their party hats with polka dots design and puffy balls on top, walking towards her with a marvelous two-tier cake on their hand.
They are beside a lake located in one of the forests just meters far from the main road heading to their house. The sun is already dipping down in the horizon, meeting the glistening water of the lake, forming a beautiful sky in purples and oranges above. Calix was able to pitch a tent and set a table filled with Faye’s dishes.
“Make a wish,” Faye said and smiled, putting the cake in front of Selene.
Selene closed her eyes and made a wish, when she opened them, a candle was lit, waiting for her. She blew it and clapped her hands, her eyes felt moist.

Selene woke up to the noise coming from the outside of her window. She grunted in annoyance and covered her head with her pillow, but the laughters and chatters did not stop.
