Lucas went to Domus Malum and searched for his clients’ application. He knew his Father will come at the weak ones, just like what he did to Mrs. Hathaway, but he was also torn thinking that his Father might come at those evil-spirited and use them against him or to other people.
His eyes moved along as the applications flash on his eyes from the screen. From the hundred clients that he had, he needs to pick those people that his Father will go after. His brows furrowed when he noticed something was wrong, he kept on going back and re-reading his lists, but he was certain about what he saw.
Some clients’ data were missing and he recognized one that is not supposed to be there.
Zera!
He cursed under his breath. He hurried outside and hopped to his car and sped off. His hands gripped the steering wheel so tight, his knuckles turning white.
Lucas went out of the building with a lot of police officers surrounding him, two behind him, and two in front of him. His mind was racing of thinking what happened to Mr. Lorenzo and why was he accused of his death. When they got out of the building, people are crowding on one side of the road, each of their face carries fear and worry. His eyes directed to the ground which was painted with blood. The police officers carried him towards the people, who noticed their presence and instantly parted to give way. Their eyes glared at him, and the murmurs went around after.Lucas’ eyes widened when he finally saw what happened. Mr. Lorenzo was lying on the ground, his head smashed and several parts of his body are dislocated. His whole body was covered with blood, oozing from every wound. Mr. Lorenzo’s eyes were open, and his mouth agape. One forensic officer carried a transparent plastic with a paper that seemed
Thick, heavyfog. Gloomy andbizarre place. Lucas closed his eyes, the deafening silence overwhelmed him. He tried to remember what happened, letting himself get lost in his memories’ trails, and when he opened his eyes again, the Tree of Death was staring back at him.He looked down, he was floating five inches away from the ground. His feet felt cold and stiff, and he can’t move any part of his body. He was startled whenan unknown force pushed him andhe spun around, shuddered with the wind that brushed against his skin. When he looked ahead,a figure was in front of him.He felt a sudden splash of relief when he recognized it wasSelene. She was far from where he stood, and she was smiling. A smile that he wish would never disappear, a smile that giveslightamidthe darkness of Domus Malum.Lucas tried to walk towards her but he looked do
The police entered the room upon hearing that Lucas has finally awaken. They were in their armored suits, carrying heavy and deadly weapons on their hands. They circled around his bed, their number almost filling the small room.Lucas glared at them, his jaw tightened as one officer pulled Selene away from him. Selene’s tears dropped once again, a stream of worry crippling in her chest. Lucas nodded at her and smiled to put her at ease, which he doubt that worked.“How are you feeling, Mr. Lucas?” A man shoved the officers to the side, parting their ways as he entered. He was not armored and was just in a formal suit with his hands both placed inside his pockets. “I am so honored to meet you.”“Honored,” Lucas muttered and gave out a wry smile. “Is something that my clients say to me the most. I’m afraid you have to set your appointment fir
The officer slammed the door behind him, letting out a sigh of exasperation.“What do we do if we find no evidence to support that note?” the Chief Inspector said, hissing under his breath. His eyes darted to the closed door where Lucas was.“What else? Of course we’d let him go.” The detective once more deeply sighed and went on his office. He stared at the note that was scanned on his computer. They searched for any handwritten letters of Mr. Lorenzo and the penmanship matched. The pen he used also had his fingerprints. But the evidence they have was not enough to prove Lucas guilty.“Detective!” An officer barged in his office. “Mr. Lorenzo’s daughter’s here,” he said. The detective rushed outside his office to meet the daughter. A 17-year-old girl was with another officer, calming her down. She looked disarrayed, her clothes
The detective went back to the station, his head full of doubts. He cursed under his breath for the possibility that he just let a criminal walk free. “Get every records of all these people,” he said and handed the papers to an officer. Lucas wrote down the names of his clients, marking the weak and the most evil ones to require extra security. The detective does not know why he agreed nor why he moved according to his will, he thinksthatLucas did something to get his trust. The detective entered his office, he walked towards his table and opened his computer. His fingers tapped on the woodas he patiently waited for it to completely turn on. He clicked for the search engine and lookedforDomus Malum, but nothing showed up on the results. He searched for the parishandonly sawthe bunker, nothing about its history, or something that can tell who Lucas really is. His
“He was a long missing fugitive, Mr. Lucas. Why did he went after you?” The detective looked at Connor who was being dragged out of the house by the police officers. His eyes darted back at Lucas whose eyes were also following Connor out. “I don’t see any connection, would you please enlighten me?”“I don’t know what happened either, Detective. I believe he got into the wrong house,” Lucas simply answered. “You have to interrogate him yourself.”The detective stared at him for a long second, eyes full of doubt. Lucas saw that he had many questions playing in his mind but the detective chose to step back and turned around, finally leaving their house.Lucas turned to Selene who was sitting on the bed beside Faye who was still in shock, her lips trembled as she speaks in a low voice.“...and when
Calix took heavy and slow steps entering the hospital. His mind was a haywire, torn between telling Selene the truth or just put his trust on Lucas. He was never the type who’s good at lying, especially not at Selene. He cursed under his breath as his steps becamebig and hurriedmarching to Selene’s room.He tread the hallway of the hospital, not sparing a glance at anyone. When he got in front of her room, he halted when he saw her through the windows. Selene was painting on her bed, a little smile on her lips that barely reaches her eyes. He saw Faye who walked beside her peeking at her painting. At that moment he realized that these are thewomen he cared for about the most, one of them even have his heart, so what’s there to lose if all he had to do is to protect them?Lucas’ favor was an advantage, but he knows he can never take it as one.He twisted the doorknob and the creaking soundc
Lucas felt a sudden jolt on his chest and flew himself right up. He gasped for air but his lungs felt shallow, nothing on his body was pulsating with life. His eyes widened with agitation as his pupils constrict trying to see from the darkness. He pulled himself up after letting the dizziness subside. A familiar cold pierced his skin but it no longer hurt him, he can only feel the scentless fog around, brushing against his pale skin. He exhaled slowly as he took his first step. His hands winging in the air, trying to find something concrete that could guide him. Finally as he took big strides to what seems like a place empty in all matter, his hand touched a rough barrier, he let his hands wander on it until he felta knob. Lucas closed his eyes, readying himself to enter his home. He twisted the doorknob and pulled the door open.A room, with a fire inside a furnace on the side, countless bottle of alcohol o
