"Hello, sir,” she said, trying to speak to him. She could tell he was injured just by looking at his unusually pale face and the cold beads of sweat on his forehead. "Sir, I can help you,” she said as she opened the back door to check on his injury. “What are you doing?!” she asked as she dodged his attack and immediately held him down. She easily subdued him because he was injured. “I want to help you, sir,” she said, but he quickly moved his body to the other side to protect something that was covered up on the car seat. "Sir, you can trust me; I promise to help you,” she pleaded softly, and the man turned his face towards her. They locked eyes for a few seconds before he finally moved closer to her without any hostility. “Please move closer so I can have a better view.” She breathed a sigh of relief as he moved closer, making the thing he was protecting visible. “Is the baby okay?” she asked, quickly making her way to the other side of the car and opening the door to check on the baby. “I think he is fine.” She is startled by the deep voice and raises her head to look at the man. After checking the baby and making sure that he was just sleeping, she helped the man to lean on the seat properly, then took off his shirt to check his injuries. “The first-aid box is in the booth,” he said weakly. She immediately gets out of the car to get it from the booth. She skillfully took out the bullets from his back and shoulder. She was surprised that he was shot only twice while the driver was shot several times. “I am the one they are after; I was supposed to drive, but the baby kept crying and refused for anyone to touch him, so I had no choice but to call one of my company's drivers to take me home,” he explained while leaning weakly on the couch. “Sir, how..” She was interrupted by the ringing of a phone, probably the man's own. The ringing seemed to have startled the baby, and he started crying. It is a miracle that he didn't wake up during the shootout. Amira moved closer to the baby and lifted him off the seat into her hands. She observed the baby's features and noticed that he didn't have any resemblance to the man. “Seb, the car's GPS is on.” He could only say this before he rested weakly on the seat. He turned to Amira, took off the amulet he was wearing on his neck, and handed it to her. Then he passed out due to exhaustion. Half an hour later, she heard the sounds of moving vehicles and immediately became alert. She looked through the window and saw five black SUVs stopping behind the car they were in. A young man, probably in his late twenties, came down and knocked on our car window. When he saw that no one was answering, he gestured to one of his companions to break the window. Amira became flustered, as the glass shards could injure her if the window was broken. She immediately lowered the glass, and the people outside had shocked looks on their faces when they saw her. When they saw the baby in her arms, they immediately became alert. “Ummm, he gave me this.” She immediately spoke up and showed them the amulet. As soon as they saw it, they all became at ease. “We are here to help, so you can open the door now,” the first man said. She nodded and unlocked the doors. They immediately opened the door and carried the injured man out, while I followed them with the baby in my arms. “Clean the place up and take the driver's body to his people. Ensure he is given a proper funeral. Tell them that Boss will come and pay his respect soon,” he told the men before entering the same car we were in. After an hour of speeding, the car slowed down, and she looked out of the window curiously. Her eyes immediately became watery when she saw the name of the hospital. She had a lot of memories of this place. SPRINGFIELD HOSPITAL. The place where she spent all her time working hard to impress the man she thought loved her. The same man made her live a miserable life, which led to her suicide. “Are you okay?” the man who came to pick them up asked. “I am fine, sir,” she replied, then turned to look at the side mirror and saw her tear-stained face. She must have cried subconsciously. “I am really okay; I just remembered something sad,” she explained awkwardly while wiping her tears. The injured man was taken to the emergency room, and they had to wait outside. “What is your motive?” the man suddenly asked. “I don't understand what you mean, sir,” she replied without showing any expression on her face. “I am asking what your motive is for getting close to the boss.” He repeated it with a domineering tone. I was probably expecting her to cower in fear. “If you are trying to intimidate me, I am sorry to disappoint you, sir, but it isn't working,” she said with a chuckle at the end. “So, you are telling me that you just happened to be in that area at the time and that it was just all a big coincidence?” he asked again, not believing her. “I just happened to escape from death and bump into them,” she said while maintaining eye contact with him. “What do you mean by escaped death?” he asked again. “You would make a good prosecutor, you know?” She smirked at him. “Just answer the damned question, '' he said. Probably losing his patience. I wonder why he was so worked up. She thought. “I was supposed to come to the city to reunite with my father, but the driver took that route because he was ordered by my stepmom to kill me, but I figured it out and killed him instead. End of story,” she said while smiling at him as if they were talking about the weather. He brought out his phone and made a call to the people he left to clean up the scene. "Carl, check around the area; get back to me if you see any car with a dead man in them,” he said while looking at her suspiciously. “If I find out that you lied, you will be tortured until you tell the truth,” he said menacingly. He takes the baby from her arms, then turns towards the bodyguards. “Lock her up in the empty room on the top floor and make sure she doesn't escape,” he ordered, and the men immediately dragged her into the elevator.Amira's POV Everything feels weird and I had a gut feeling that there was something I wasn't aware of, something extremely important.“Are you ready to go?” Zain entered my hospital room with a charming smile. His smile should give me butterflies in my stomach but why do I feel such a strong disgust towards him?Does losing my memories affect my emotions to such an extent?.Then why didn't I feel disgusted with that Leonardo guy?.“Mimi….Amira” Zain tapped on my shoulder to pull me out of my thoughts.“What's wrong with you? I have been calling you” he said with an impatient tone.“What do you mean?” I asked him with a frown and he quickly smiled.“ I mean what is bothering you? You keep spacing out” he said while rubbing my palm gently. His smile was so perfect and it seemed like the impatient expression I saw a few seconds ago was all in my imagination.“Everything is ready, we can leave now” he said and two of his men came in to help with my luggage.I nodded at him before walking
Leo's POV I pulled Zain off the bed and landed a solid punch on his face. The bowl of soup he was holding fell and broke, the pieces littering the floor.“How dare you come close to her?!” I asked him as I landed another punch on his face.He didn't fight back, which was very unlike him.He just kept trying to push me away from him.“Who are you? Stop hitting him!” Amira yelled at me while pressing the emergency button.I pushed Zain aside and went over to where she was sitting. “Hey….” I tried to touch her face but she shifted back in fright. She stared at me like I was a stranger.“Mimi” I called her but she moved further away from me.The door suddenly opened and a group of doctors rushed in.“Miss Delgado, is everything alright?” One of them asked Amira.“He walked into my room and attacked my fiance” she replied while gesturing at me.I just stared at her in confusion and couldn't react for a while.“I'm fine my love” Zain said as he pushed me aside to hold her.I pulled him by
Leo's POV My head felt so heavy as I slowly opened my eyes. The first thing I saw was a white ceiling then I slowly turned my head to the side.Seb was sitting by the bedside and speaking to Cam in a hushed voice.Cough!Cough!I started coughing when I tried to speak due to the dryness of my throat. Cam quickly handed me a glass of water while Seb helped me to sit up and get a comfortable position.“ How long was I out?” I asked after drinking some water.“Four days,” Seb replied with a relieved expression. He seemed to want to say something but hesitated.“What happened?” I asked while staring at his face. His reaction told me that something big had happened which I was unaware of.“How is Amira?” I asked Cam when he refused to speak.“She is fine, she woke up two days ago and is recovering quite well” she said with a reassuring smile and I breathed a sigh of relief.Thank goodness she is okay.“Any other thing that I need to know?” I asked her as Seb clearly wanted to keep me in
Leo's POV “How did it go?” I asked Asher after dropping off Amira at school. “Everything went well, they didn't suspect a thing” he replied with a smile. I took out my phone and called Seb. “Has Amira left the school?” I asked him with a serious tone as there were always uncertainties in plans and I couldn't let her get hurt. “She is on her way,” he replied. “Keep an eye on her, nothing should go wrong” I instructed before hanging up. “Everything is going according to the plan” I informed Asher as I took a hiding position that allowed me to see the girls apartment clearly. A few minutes later, two men dressed in all black with their faces covered arrived in front of the apartment. They separated, one went to stand behind the pillar and the other stood at the entrance of the apartment. Amira arrived at this moment and walked straight towards the man in front of the apartment. The hiding man quickly stepped out of his hiding spot and gave her a palm strike on the neck. I had
Amira’s POV “Why can't I be here, Sister?” She asked me with a smirk.“Aren't you supposed to be rotting in jail with your mother?” Cam asked her with an unfriendly tone.“Sister, how can you treat me like this? I have always been nice to you and always made sure you were comfortable in my parents house” Sasha said while shedding some crocodile tears.I noticed that a lot of people were listening and some were even recording with their phones.I didn't want any form of unnecessary rumors and scandal on my first day in my new school.“Let's just ignore her” I said to my friends and turned away from her.“Sister, why do you hate me so much?” She yelled from behind while still sobbing loudly.“Did you hear that? How can she be so heartless to her sister?”“It looks like she really cares about their relationship”“She is so pretty but has a heart of stone”“She shouldn't be allowed to study here, how can such a wicked person be a student here?”Different comments and murmurs filled the w
Amira’s POV It still feels like a dream, I can't believe that I finally got revenge on Elizabeth and her daughter.Knock knock!“Mimi, can I come in?” Claire's voice came from outside the door and I immediately opened it.“What's up bitch?” She asked with a smile as she stepped into my room.“Damn…you are done packing and I still have a lot to pack” she sighed dramatically and fell on the bed.“I thought aunt May was helping you?” I asked while laughing at her antics.“She offered to but my Mom said she shouldn't” she complained with a pitiful expression.“Why would she do that?” I asked while trying to like I was heartbroken by her predicament.“She said that I need to develop a sense of responsibility” she said with her nose scrunched up in disgust.I couldn't stop laughing, she is always so dramatic and fun to be around. We have become really close and we decided to rent a four bedroom flat so we can stay together. It will only be me, Cam, Lisa and Claire. It will definitely be fu
