Chapter 5: When are you going to propose to her?

Alec sighed as he gazed at the documents placed neatly on the table, he had to sign all those contracts before tomorrow morning.

A sigh escaped his lips, he studied the documents in his hands, his eyes clearly scanning the contents.

However, his eyes scanned at the CV that was placed on the table, he must have forgotten to give the lady back her CV.

He picked up the CV with curiosity, since he didn't get the chance to read it.

He scanned through the contents, and he could say that her educational level was quite high, she had a degree in business, and she would be quite beneficial to the company.

He stroked his chin, seeming to be in a deep thought, he was trying to analyze the benefits of employing.

And as if he had thought enough, he had already analyzed the benefits. He signed the CV.

He was quite impressed by her educational status, he needed her to work in his company.

However, her full name wasn't included in the document, her marital status, nor her age wasn't included, what could be wrong?

He placed a ring through the intercom to his assistant, in a minute, she knocked gently, after hearing a faint 'Come in' only then did she come in, her head glued to the ground.

"Sir, you called for me?" She asked him.

"Yes, send a confirmation email to the last lady that came for the interview," He gazed at the documents, not even glancing to look up at her.

She already knew his character, so she didn't need to probe further, she had learnt her lesson the other day.

"Okay sir, any more thing?" She asked him, staring down, she couldn't even dare to look up at him even for a second.

He gazed at her as if she was one stupid lady, "Is that a question?" His tone was laced with coldness, his gray eyes penetrating through hers.

She felt as though she had offended him, she shivered in fear, giving a simple bow, she wobbled her legs to the exit door.

He diverted his whole attention back to the piles of documents, focusing back on what he was doing.

The door of his office opened and a woman estimated to be around her late thirties.

She held her shoulders high, her blonde hair flowed freely according to the wind, the gown she wore complimented her well, the clinking of her high heels could be heard.

"Alec, how are you?" She sat down on the chair staring at him, her hands gazed over his table for a brief moment.

"I am fine," He sighed before focusing back on the documents, clearly showing her that he was not in the mood for chit-chats.

It was seen that their relationship had no more end, there was no closeness or whatsoever in their bond.

Alexis, his elder sister showed no sign of giving up, she needed to strive further, she had to accomplish coming here.

"Mother is requesting that you get married soon," She smiled at him, "I mean, you divorce Natasha years ago, why don't you want to move on?"

Snap. He was getting angry by their forceful demands, "First, you said that I should divorce Natasha on the pretense that you didn't like her? Now you want me to marry again? yeah, right." He focused back on what he was doing.

"Alec, listen to me now," She raised her voice at him.

He simply glanced at her without saying a word, she took it as a sign to continue whatever she was saying.

"I heard Haylee is back from abroad, when are you going to propose to her?" She asked him.

He never even bothered to even answer, just by hearing her name made him always angry, in simple words, he hated her or let's just say disliked her.

"I never planned on doing such," He raised his head to stare deadly at her.

She gulped down her fears, "Mother insists that you propose to her when she is back," She tried defending.

Snap. He banged the table in anger and gritted his teeth. "I have been doing everything for my mother, she said that I should divorce Natasha and that she doesn't fit into 'our' world," He paused.

"I did what mom wanted and now you guys want me to propose her?" He raised his eyebrows in a way it made him look fearful.

"Damn Alec, I am your elder sister for crying out loud, show me some respect." She gritted his teeth.

He had no time for any play right now, "Won't you pick up Emily and Henry from school?" He referred to his niece and nephews.

She understood what he meant clearly, he was indirectly asking her to leave.

She clutched her hand bag in anger as she stood up making an attempt to leave, she shot a deadly glance at him and left the room.

Alec chuckled, what did they take him for? a fool? yes, he always did whatever they told him to do.

He clicked his pen in anger, his eyes surveyed the room until it landed on a frame adjacent the room.

In the frame was Natasha smiling widely while he was just wearing a poker face, was it all worth it?

He missed her so much, even though it was now five years, he regretted not being a great husband.

How would she be doing now? would she be remarried now? Just the thought of him seeing her with another man made him feel jealous. His blood boiled in anger.

His phone on the table rang, and when he picked it up, it had 'Haylee' written on the caller ID.

With anger, he rejected the call and switched off his phone to prevent more calls.

A sigh escaped his lips as he got back to signing the documents.

hhmmm....what happened all those years ago, when he was married to Natasha? Was Haylee's pregnancy a ruse to trick him into divorcing Natasha? He needs to grow some balls and not allow himself to be bossed around by his mother and sister? Living for other people like that, tends to be disastrous.
