Chapter 4: Meeting her Ex-husband

Natasha now known as Cindy sat down among the interviewers, with a sigh, she yawned slightly.

"Are you here for the interview?" The woman next to her smiled.

"Yes." She simply answered not in the mood, the only thing she was focused on right now was getting the job, she really needed the job.

"Great, I am also here for the job and by the way I am Carly," The woman smiled, somehow, her smile felt fake and insecure that Natasha couldn't help but flutter her brows.

"Miss. Carly, you are next." She nodded before getting up, she turned to Cindy who was rubbing her palms, "I wish us luck," There was something behind that smile, but she couldn't pinpoint what it was.

Cindy just nodded her head, Carly went in with a smile, full of herself and composed.

After three minutes, Carly came out of the office, tears stuck the edges of her face, she ran away, the tears slipping down her pale cheek.

Cindy stiffened, woah, what just happened? she went in with confidence but came out with tears, and for a minute she wondered what happened.

What did the CEO say? Would it turn out to be the same for her?

The receptionist looked up at her from her laptop, adjusting her glasses, "Miss. Cindy, you are next."

Cindy nodded, she gazed at herself for a while before going into the office, she halted immediately she came in contact with the person that was sitting on the CEO chair.

And, when he finally gazed up at her. She stiffened, her chest heaving up in panic.

Oh my, what in the heck was he doing here? she felt her anger brewing up, why was her ex-husband here? All, this while, she had tried to hide from him, but no, now she was even in his company applying for a job.

She gazed at him, her heart pounding furiously. She stepped back a bit and placed her arm between her chest. She tried calming her breath.

Thud. Her heart skipped a bit.

Why was her ex-husband here? she always knew he was a CEO but she never knew his company, since he never related business with her.

Thank goodness she changed all her looks including her name, she just hoped he didn't recognize her now.

She looked at him for a while. Well, he was still as he was five years ago, except he looked more mature, his perfectly toned jawline, and his captivating face, his gray eyes twitching over to her. His eyes was dark, piercing into her soul.

He looked up from the folder and gazed at the figure in front of him, she has slightly curly ebony raven hair, her eyes, something deep. So uncomfortably blue, the eyes that reminded him of the calm ocean.

He felt a tight tug in his heart, who was she really? He tried to push all the thoughts away, he suddenly remembered she was here for the interview, he massaged his temples.

He stared at her for a while, a deep frown suddenly etched on the corner of his lips. She was familiar and that was for sure.

But his wife was a little chubby back then, but this lady seemed to have lost a lot of weight. Something didn't quite add up.

How in the hell could she be his wife? He reminded himself.

His gaze landed on hers for a very long time, Natasha gulped down her spit, and scratched her forehead.

Was he not going to say anything?

Did he recognize her?

She could feel her hands getting sweaty, sweats formed in the corner of her forehead despite the AC. She tried to wipe it away, but even her hands couldn't move.

He had a meeting to get to, so he just had to speed it all up.

"Are you just going to stand there or give me your CV?" His voice hit her

"H-hello, I am Miss. Cindy." She handed him the CV. Her heart pounding abnormally, she shook her head slowly, even if she got the job, she would definitely not take it, she couldn't work with this man. He was her ex-husband for goodness sake, what if he found out about the twins?

He stared at the folder for a while, only her name was included, Miss. Cindy? this was definitely not his wife. He was suspicious, he squinted his eyes trying to catch any resemblance, but something was deep and he couldn't pinpoint what it was.

She wiped her face.

She blinked her eyes, at least he didn't recognise her, she changed her name, and dyed her hair, she lost some couples of weight, so she guessed he couldn't recognize her. But how wrong was she?

His eyes scanned the CV, "So?" He asked her.

"Huh?" She replied back, this man was damn confusing, what was he trying to say?

"Sorry, but we will email you if you got the job," His voice somehow warm still it made her shudder.

She nodded, reaching for the door handle she stumbled out without waiting.

He just watched her figure leave and sighed, something unknowing crept in the corner of his chest, something he couldn't explain, was it fear? He placed his hands on his chest before a heavy sigh escaped his lips.

He had been looking for his wife ever since, and his only hope of recognizing her was again shattered. He at least hoped it was her. But sigh...

She quickly boarded a taxi and left for home without waiting. She went home and slumped on the chair.

She cried and cried until no remnants of tears were left in her eyes, what a life she lived.

She needed to widen her time, so she thought of doing something fun, or maybe going to the club.

She boarded a taxi to the nearest club.

"I need wine," She said to the receptionist that was present there.

"Okay ma'am," He poured her some wine into her cup.

She lifted up the cup of wine and chugged it down her system, it went from her already chapped lips to her system.

The club consisted of rich elites, there were men of high position all drinking wine.

One of them seemed to lustfully eye the lady that was sitting on the counter table, he had been watching her afar off and he seemed to want her now.

Jace, by name, stroded to her with a smile on his plump lips, he was a remarkable CEO, and this was the first time a lady captured his heart.

"Hello," He acknowledged her as he took a seat on the chair.

"Hi," She just gazed at him indifferently, all the pain she had been harboring came pouring out.

He could feel her pain, and he knew something was wrong with her, so much that he wanted to help her overcome her troubles.

"What seems to be the problem? maybe there is something I can do." He said to her with a smile, before he adjusted on the chair.

At least, she needed someone to vent all her troubles.

"I am in need of a job, what can you do? Would you be of help?" She asked him, taking another sip of the wine.

He smiled at her, he was a damn CEO, he could do anything just by the snap of his fingers.

"I could help you with a job, here is my card," He handed her his card from his pockets, a black golden shiny card. He swiped it to her.

Men, this was of high value, she couldn't just tamper with the card anyhow she liked.

She smiled, "Thank you so much, you helped me a lot," She put the card into her bag.

"I just wanted to help, name is Jace by the way," He winked at her and took a sip.

Jace, Jace, Jace, why did the name sound so familiar? She knew that name from somewhere, but where?

She passed a smile at him before getting up, she looked at the time and knew that she had to go pick her children from school.

She arranged her bag and the document well before departing.

"Thanks again." Her warm smile met with his, and with that, she quickly left for their school.

He smiled at her departing figure, "Natasha, you didn't remember me," He was down casted, gulping down another glass of beer.

His goal now was to make her remember him, he smiled to himself, before getting up to leave.
