Tara Blakewood POV

“This is my number. Call me if…”

I don’t know why Mr. Kaiden emphasized the last word, but I didn’t pay much attention. His voice alone had paralyzed my hearing.

I took the paper he handed me after pulling it from the inside pocket of his suit, then he extended his hand and said, “We’ll meet again, Tara.”

I took his hand, shaking it with a slight, almost invisible hesitation. “Yes… we will, Mr. Kaiden.”

He let go, staring into my eyes with a gaze I still couldn’t understand, then walked away with those calm, measured steps. I watched his broad back. No doubt it would be perfect for leaving a few scratches.

This man was going to be a danger to my mind.

********

Two days passed.

The neighborhood I live in is beautiful and very quiet. Everyone here is extremely kind… except one girl named Hailey.

Right now, I was working on some documents I had sent to Kaiden yesterday through one of his men, working on them on his behalf.

I closed the file I had finished, a file that had really exhausted my brain.

I reached for my phone on the table beside me. Just as I was about to dial Kaiden’s number, it rang. The caller was Ethan.

I answered, pressing the phone to my ear, letting his voice reach me. Honestly, his voice didn’t affect me much. That made me wonder… how could Kaiden’s voice have thrown me into a state of extreme tension? And I’d only seen him twice.

“Tara, my love, hi. How are you?”

I felt a pang of sadness. He treated me as if I were his fiancée, his beloved, and I couldn’t bring myself to see him any other way.

“Hi Ethan, I’m fine. And you?” I answered calmly.

“I’m fine now… Anyway, I’ll send you an address. Meet me there.”

I realized he wanted a date. But I was surprised he didn’t ask why I hadn’t come to therapy sessions.

“Yes, I’ll meet you, Ethan. But first, I have a file I need to deliver to Mr. Kaiden.”

I heard his sigh, tinged with annoyance. I had told him about Kaiden, that I would be interning with him, that I’d be in contact, and I hadn’t hidden anything.

“All right, Tara. I’ll be waiting,” he said, then hung up.

I snapped out of my thoughts and opened contacts, searching for a specific name: “Kaiden Draven.”

I tapped the name, called him, and within minutes the line connected. “Hello, Mr. Kaiden… how are you?”

“Hello, Miss Tara… I’m fine. And you?”

“I called to tell you about the file I finished. Should I bring it to you?”

“You don’t have to come.”

I bit my lip and threw the cushions aside at his words. The last word…

“No, I’ll come, Mr…” I said, because I wanted to see his house… or rather, where he lived.

“All right. I’ll send you the address.”

“Okay.”

That steady, masculine tone of his made my heart race and my nerves tingle.

“I’ll wait.”

“All right, Mr. Kaiden.”

It only made things worse. That hum in his voice reached my ears like it was right beside me. I hung up quickly before I could faint.

My phone pinged with a notification. I opened it and found a W******p message—a simple address. I knew immediately it was from Kaiden.

Seconds later, another notification appeared from Ethan, sending his location too.

*********

I was about to knock, but the door opened before I could. Kaiden Draven stood there. As usual, I stared at him and the details of his body beneath his suit, which I had never seen before, now a sleek gray.

I noticed a small smile curl on his lips. I couldn’t guess why.

“Welcome to my home, Miss Tara,” he said after my silence stretched long.

“Come in,” he added, making way. He closed the door behind me. Being alone with him made me nervous.

“Sit.” His voice guided me to the sofa. I sat, while he took a place in front of me, legs apart in a masculine stance that made my heart and mind race.

I looked away, struggling to focus on the file in my hands. “Here it is. I finished it.”

He took it, piercing me with his gaze, then focused on the file. A minute or two passed as he examined my work.

“Good.” He said, placing the file on the glass table in front of us. I felt a rush of pride that my work had impressed him.

He stood. I did the same.

“I think I’ll leave, Mr. Kaiden. I have someone to meet.”

As soon as I said it, his eyes roamed over my clothes and every inch of my body.

“And is the one you’re meeting more important than me?”

He said it while stepping closer, those strange eyes holding mine. I didn’t know how to answer, so I remained silent.

“Answer me.” As he said this, I felt something press against my back. The wall. It was clear. His right hand moved beside my head, flat against the wall.

“My fiancé… he… the one I’ll meet is…” I barely managed to get the words out.

He moved his hand toward my face, placing his thumb on my cheek, sliding it slowly. Then it descended to my lips, specifically my lower lip, tracing its surface with a deliberate touch. I lost all ability to move.

His voice alone paralyzed me. And his hands? He pressed my full, cherry-stained lips, then ran his thumb inside their soft texture.

Suddenly, reality hit me—I had forgotten completely. I was engaged. And he… was married. I had forgotten. This man had completely taken over my mind.

I was about to push his hand away before it went further, but the door opened, and a female voice called:

“Kaiden…”

She would cry, but her tears hadn’t yet escaped. I could tell. She was a woman like me.

I collapsed to the floor. My legs couldn’t hold me from the sheer terror.Kaiden rushed toward me, moving fast, until he reached me. He squatted beside me and held my hand, pressing it between his."Don’t be afraid."His calm tone, the way he brushed my hand, made me forget the fear of his dog that almost lunged at me."I just… I was…"I murmured, trying to steady my breathing and gather myself, looking into his eyes.He helped me to my feet, still holding my left hand, and we walked along the wooden path for a few meters until we reached the end."That dog isn’t bad. He just doesn’t know you. He’s gentle."He said, glancing at me, and I gave a nervous smile. How could something like that be “gentle”?"Come on, let’s go, Tara."He said

  • Daddy’s Best Friend, My Ruin   My First Kiss

Tara Blakewood POVI began moving slowly, letting the first rays of morning sunlight seep into the room, reaching my window and my eyes.Last night’s events came rushing back to me. I glanced to my side. Kaiden was still asleep. His slumber looked beautiful and tempting at the same time. For a moment, I felt as if he were my husband. I think it was because of the way his hands had held my waist so snugly, and how I had relaxed around him, allowing myself to slip out. I moved completely away, placing the blanket over him.My eyes wandered here and there, searching for the kitchen. I didn’t go straight to it, not yet, to make something. I grabbed an apron hanging there and put it on.I turned to fetch a chair to add height, hoping to reach some ingredients I needed. But I didn’t get far. Kaiden’s body appeared at the top of the stairs, bare-chested, looking at me with a gaze I couldn’t decipher.“Good morning, Mr. Kaiden.”I said, trying to lighten the mood, though his gaze burned me.H

  • Daddy’s Best Friend, My Ruin   You Can Sleep With Me

Tara Blakewood POV“You can think of me as your dad!”Kaiden said, waiting for my reply.“What?”“You’re my friend’s daughter. He sent you to me because he trusts me. Instead of saying ‘Sir,’ just call me Daddy!”I didn’t think much. I just found myself nodding in agreement as he left my room with a smile. I thought about taking a shower, but I was too tired to move.I walked toward a door to check if it was a bathroom. I stripped off my underwear, imagining him walking in and seeing me like this, exposed but I didn’t care.I stepped into the shower, scrubbed my body thoroughly, rinsed off the soap, and stepped out. I grabbed a towel, wrapped it around my body, and used a smaller towel to dry my hair.I was going to wear underwear, but it bothers me while sleeping, so I left it on the edge of the bed and grabbed a shirt to wear.I forgot to turn off the light. I got up to switch it off but got distracted by the balcony. My staring was interrupted by a sound a little scary, but for me,

  • Daddy’s Best Friend, My Ruin   Don’t Mention Your Fiancé

Tara Blakewood POV“I told you, your little outbursts in front of me… they won’t do you any good. Don’t mention your fiancé.”I followed the path of his hands as they moved toward my face. Then he placed both palms on my cheeks, his thumbs gently wiping away the few tears that remained.I thought he might apologize for what he did to my poor thigh, but this was what he said instead. He pulled his hands away from my face roughly. I crossed my arms and turned my gaze to the other side, resting my bag on my lap.“Don’t toy with me, damn it!”“And who said I’m toying?”I answered shortly, “You!”“Move that bag.”I looked at him as he commanded me, and his gaze was truly frightening, as if it carried a threat on its own. I moved the bag aside and placed it behind me.I followed his hands as they reached into the car drawer. He pulled out a small tube of ointment, which immediately made my mind spin in two directions: first, he might put it on my thigh, and second, that wasn’t just ointment

  • Daddy’s Best Friend, My Ruin   Has Your Desire for My Body Not Ended?

Tara Blakewood POV“Kaiden, anyone could see us like this. Stay away from me.”I felt his hands on my waist, holding me, moving against my skin in intimate circles. Ethan had tried something similar, but I never allowed it.He pulled his hand from my waist and moved it to the left side of my neck. A new, intense sensation settled in me, twisting deep in my stomach. My whole body froze as he lowered the collar of my shirt. He began spreading sinful breaths across the skin of my neck. I felt his hand, which had moved my hair aside, creeping down to my thigh over the skirt. His touch sent shivers straight through me.Something soft pressed gently against my neck, right into the hollow. Damn... was he kissing me? Not just once, but multiple times.Suddenly, his words echoed in my mind: “I was just playing with you.”I gathered the scattered pieces of myself. His hand would have gone lower, but I stopped him. This must never happen.“You’re married, and I’m engaged! Damn it, have you lost

  • Daddy’s Best Friend, My Ruin   Who Is Ethan?

Tara Blakewood POV“Since you went against me, I’ll show you something you never expected, Tara.”Kaiden said this while his breath seemed to numb my mind and all my senses. I kept my composure, though.Being close to him felt dangerous, and I didn’t like it one bit. I quickly pulled my hand away from under his.I wanted to escape, but I didn’t even turn before he opened the secretary’s office door, gently pushed me inside, then followed and closed the door without using a key.“Mr. Kaiden, stop! Your secretary might come in at any moment.” I said, looking at anything but him.“If this is her office, it’s also my company, Tara Blakewood.”There was no room for argument now. He was right. He stood only a few inches away. His hand, placed beside my head, made me shift my gaze toward him.I closed my eyes tightly, squeezing them, and my body started to tremble. I clutched the edges of my skirt, pressing it hard. My hands were sweaty—I could bet some drops had slipped onto my forehead—and
