JACE BALDWIN'S POV

"Alpha, we've searched everywhere, but we can't find her."

Slamming my palms hard against the table with enough force to make its legs vibrate, I stood up in anger, knocking off the seat in the process. "If you can't find her then you didn't fucking look everywhere, now did you?"

The man before me took a step backward, shivering in fear and afraid that he could get punished for reporting in the negative.

"I'm sorry, Alpha."

"Your goddess-forsaken apology is not what will bring me what I need. FINE HER NOW!"

I swiped at the table, spilling its contents to the floor, my breathing heavy as I glared at the man rushing out of the office.

How was it so damn hard for my best trackers and hunters to find a pregnant woman?

"I'm sure Carly didn't evaporate into thin air, so she's out there somewhere and needs to be found, damnit," I growled into the room that was void of life.

What went wrong? She was fine and happy with Ian, Mia, and that silly boyfriend of hers. Or did h

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 117 - THE ALPHA'S MISERY

NATE MOORE'S POVThree days had passed since my ex-mate ran away, putting Jace and Ian in a state of disarray.I must say, Carly was too brave to take such a big leap without knowing the impact her reckless decision could cause.I didn't know what came over Jace to put me in charge of finding my ex-mate. Was he trying to provoke me? Of all the things to add to my to-do list, going in search of the one woman I wanted in my bed but couldn't have was the last thing I'd add to my schedule.I couldn't stand the fact that my fated and rejected mate was in love with my best friend. I hated the looks in her eyes whenever Jace was in her line of vision. I hated the way she reacted to him while my presence upset her. Maybe her departure was a blessing shaded in the Alpha's misery.I was in a restaurant for dinner when a leggy blonde-haired woman strutted to my table. "Waiting for someone?" Startled, my head jerked up, my hands halted from cutting up the steak I had before me, and my irritated

I was more upset than ever. What made me think Carly was into Julian? It's not like I've seen them doing couples things or whatnot, they're always together with Mia. "Damnit!"Julian and Mia had always been the ones holding hands while Carly would be grinning from ear to ear like a Cheshire cat, while wiggling her brows at them.Julian had left after assuring me he wasn't in any sort of awkward relationship with Carly. "I'm mated and even if I wanted to fool around, I wouldn't go around chasing after the Alpha's pregnant mate." Julian had said during our little conversation.Where did she run off to whenever she tried avoiding me? Where was she the night I passed out on the kitchen floor? Why do I feel like Carly was hiding something, and maybe Addison had nothing to do with her disappearance? Maybe she took advantage of Addison's presence to cover her tracks, making Addison take the blame while she went off to sunset. Why? Did she get any intel on our plans? I doubt that.If Julia

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 114 - ONE WAY OR ANOTHER

It was my turn to do the pacing, and I was hating every second of it. I tried talking with Jace, but he wasn't having any of it; he just stared at me as if I wasn't standing right in front of him. No, I guess I was pretty much invisible since he just looked through me before walking away, without a word or sign of recognition. What do I do now? How do I convince him I had nothing to do with Carly's decision? As useless as Ophelia could be, I needed her and Paula at the moment but they didn't want to see me, which was annoying as fuck. Storming towards my kitchen counter, I plucked my phone from the flat surface and dialed Ophelia's number, but it went straight to voicemail, the same with Paula. "Ahhhhhh! I screamed in frustration before storming off to my room, the cellphone clutched tight in my hand. I dialed another number as I plopped down on the bed with crossed fingers, hoping this time I wouldn't hit the machine. "Addison." A deep, masculine voice greeted me from the ot

ADDISON COBBLER POV "I can feel it." I could barely hear Ophelia's voice as she kept on muttering words to herself while pacing around the private dressing room in the exquisite clothes store, the girls and I came for a stress-relieving shopping experience. My mind was completely out of all the fine, beautiful, and sexy dresses I was supposed to try on, I didn't find anything good enough for me, no matter how fancy and stylish they were. I sat on the white couch bench, drilling holes in the wall across from me, while trying to ignore the now annoying Ophelia, who couldn't get her act together. "Feel what?" Paula chimed in merrily as she placed a shimmery golden colored dress she plucked from the rack on her body. Since that dreadful combat with Stephanie, I'd kicked her out of being a friend or acquaintance of mine. If she wanted to hang with that lowlife Carly, then she wasn't worthy of breathing the same air around me. "I can, I can feel it in my bones. It's too strong f

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 112 - SWEET DEMISE

Taking in a deep breath, I pushed the door open before stepping into the room that was wide enough to fit an entire apartment inside. Jace's home office was spacious but I dare say, not as spacious as Darren's. There was a huge bookshelf that stood proudly at the end of the room, a file cabinet with one of the compartments ajar. Modern walls were sleek white and I imagined how it would feel against my fingertips. White lights glared down from the ceiling illuminating the room and keeping away the darkness that dominated the sky. "You know, for a man that murdered his mother in cold blood or whatever means you'd adopted, I thought that your office would be as dark as your soul," I muttered my eyes neglecting the white walls and settling on the looming figure of the mysterious rogue Alpha. With a visible scowl on their face, Darren Knight sat on a brown leather chair behind the huge polished wooden table that held his computer, a pen holder, some files and paperwork that wer

"Now that's a question," Darren smirked turning back to sit on the wooden cushion chair "What's that supposed to mean?" I asked, leaning on the wall behind me for physical support since my knees were too wobbly and no longer able to keep my weight up.Darren was a known name around the Were community and a major threat to Jace's pack. The Brookside pack.I remember hearing his name a lot in Jace, Beta Ian, and Nate's conversation."We need to increase our training time with the pack warriors if we want to stand a chance against Darren," Nate offered his candid suggestion as they continued with their discussion over breakfast."Darren isn't dumb enough to risk an attack in the Brookside pack. He wouldn't want to dare me." Jace had countered with visible anger clear in his eyes."These are the outlanders we're dealing with, Alpha. We're talking rouges. Everyone knows how vicious they can be." Beta Ian had supplied, putting Jace straight when he tried belittling his opponent. It was the

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 110 - DARK AND DANGEROUS

I froze in time lost in the most beautiful dark grey eyes I've ever seen in my entire life, the pillow dangling behind my back, it's purpose long forgotten as I got lost in the storm that was swirling in those eyes. The man before me was the real definition of dark, mysterious, and dangerous. He was almost as tall as Jace but Jace still had a few 5-6 inches on him, he had a mob of black hair that was combed into perfection, and thick and long lashes cast a shadow over his dark grey eyes which were cold and menacing as he glared me down. His lips had a pink tinge which had me wondering if he used men's makeup or if it was natural. He had sharp jawlines that could cut a paper and his face was on full display and free of facial hair, his nose was perfectly sculpted on his face and his lips were drawn into a thin disapproving line. He had broad shoulders that were covered in a black suit jacket that was tailored and made for him, the top three buttons on his black shirt were popped to

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 109 - WHO RAISED YOU?

Darkness.Gross darkness.Gross and intense darkness. That was all I saw when my eyes fluttered open. My head craned in all directions, eyes darting around trying to get a glimpse of light from any angle. Disappointed, I briefly shut my eyes in disappointment when there was no trace of light, not even from a cracked wall or a sip of light from the space in between the door and the floor or a window. At this point, even the dullest light in the history of light will be appreciated.Where am I?I thought, tuning into my other senses since my sights were disadvantaged at the moment. I strained my ears in the hope of picking up on a sound but everywhere was eerily quiet. Almost dead.A soft lavender fragrance tingled my nose from the pillowcase my head rested on. At least one sense organ was responding when needed even though the fragrance couldn't relate any vital information as to what my fate was in this unknown place. But it was sufficient enough to let me know I wasn't tied up in
