What in the name of creation happened in here?

I stumbled my way inside and I was met with an unsettling sight.

Jace was completely wasted and that was something since this had to be the first time I've witnessed him getting shit faced.

Jace's room reeked of alcohol and blood, which made me worry about him. My initial thought upon arrival was that the mansion had been broken into by some holigans, but standing in the middle of the master bedroom, I realized just how much Carly's disappearance affected him.

The words he whispered under his breath rang loudly in my head as he sat on the floor, looking dejected and broken.

"She took him away, you took him away."

My heart broke for him when I realized he was more concerned about his son being taken than the mother, Carly, running away.

Patience, my love, patience, everything is going to be alright. It's just a matter of a few weeks before the child is born. I thought within me, as I sat on the cushion bench at the foot of his dishevele

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 121 - STAY AWAY

JACE BALDWIN'S POV "Ugh! Fucking hell." I groaned in pain as my head thumped in pain. My hands slowly reached out to cradle my head in an attempt to alleviate the pain. Groaning, I pressed my middle and ring fingers to my temple, giving it a gentle massage, my eyes shut tightly as I tried to avoid the sharp rays of morning sunlight that filtered through the blinds.I didn't need to open my eyes to know I wasn't sprawled out on my bed but on a cold floor. I pushed myself to a sitting position, my bones cracking in protest from being subjected to an awkward position for how long I had been passed out.I heaved a heavy sigh, pulling my legs to myself. I was still in the clothes I was in yesterday, but the dark shirt and pants were wrinkled and reeked of alcohol, dried blood, and sweat. The pounding in my head didn't relent, but instead of going to the medicine cabinet, my hand reached out to the discarded bottle of Martel that was patiently seeking my attention.Sitting on the floor wi

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 120 - LIFE OF A ROUGE

The moment I shut the wooden bedroom door behind me, my eyes trailed over to the door at the tail end of the dimly lit hallway. The door was shut tight, and since I got here, it has always remained that way.Linda had pointed it out to Darren's room, which was off limits unless invited. In the few days I've spent here, it was very clear that almost all the women I've stumbled on were smitten by the rogue king, who I presume didn't mind giving them the pleasure they desired. My nose crinkled at the thought of his unending list of escapades. My feet guided me to the sunroom, which happened to be my new favorite spot here. I plopped down on one of the gold colored cushioned single chairs while placing the book I brought with me on the small square table beside it.I had stumbled on this place when Linda had shown me around the community, and I'd instantly fallen in love with it. Aside from the wall that the door that led to the sunroom was hinged to, the other three walls were made o

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 119 - JACKPOT

CARLY WOODS POV I lay in bed, staring into the dark skies from the window of my new room in Darren's small community of outcasts, as dawn fought to break free from the darkness of the night.I found it difficult to sleep long since I was still trying to adjust to my new environment. In the three days I've spent here, I've been treated in a way I've never been treated since the death of my parents in Brookside Pack. I've been shown kindness, which was contrary to what Paul had promised.Another scantily dressed maid had taken me the next morning to a much better room, which was much closer to Darren's. At least, according to the young maid. She said the alpha wanted me close, which was a bit weird at first, until she reassured me it was his way of making sure I was comfortable and lacking nothing."Why would he go out of his way to care for my well-being?" I had asked the young preppy woman who introduced herself as Linda."I can understand why you're a bit surprised, but our Alpha i

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 118 - FROZEN PEBBLES

JACE BALDWIN'S POV Today was the first day of the special women's training. Ian, Nate, and I stood by the sidelines, watching with scrutinizing eyes the various reactions from the women as we came to make sure everything was good. Some of the ladies grinned from ear to ear at the chance of being able to train, some had looks of uncertainty as they fidgeted in place, glancing around their environment. Some had fear written on their faces as they hoped they glanced around the other women, wishing for all this to be done and over with. Some ladies opted for whining as they complained about everything, and why they'd have to bother themselves with training when the men and warriors were there to protect them."Look at them, they must think they're better than everyone else." My attention was drawn to the small group of girls who were huddled together, talking about the female warriors with envy burning through their eyes."I know, right? I bet they wouldn't look so smug when I beat the

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 117 - THE ALPHA'S MISERY

NATE MOORE'S POV Three days had passed since my ex-mate ran away, putting Jace and Ian in a state of disarray. I must say, Carly was too brave to take such a big leap without knowing the impact her reckless decision could cause. I didn't know what came over Jace to put me in charge of finding my ex-mate. Was he trying to provoke me? Of all the things to add to my to-do list, going in search of the one woman I wanted in my bed but couldn't have was the last thing I'd add to my schedule. I couldn't stand the fact that my fated and rejected mate was in love with my best friend. I hated the looks in her eyes whenever Jace was in her line of vision. I hated the way she reacted to him while my presence upset her. Maybe her departure was a blessing shaded in the Alpha's misery. I was in a restaurant for dinner when a leggy blonde-haired woman strutted to my table. "Waiting for someone?" Startled, my head jerked up, my hands halted from cutting up the steak I had before me, and my irrit

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 116 - SHE BELONGS TO YOU

I was more upset than ever. What made me think Carly was into Julian? It's not like I've seen them doing couples things or whatnot, they're always together with Mia. "Damnit!"Julian and Mia had always been the ones holding hands while Carly would be grinning from ear to ear like a Cheshire cat, while wiggling her brows at them.Julian had left after assuring me he wasn't in any sort of awkward relationship with Carly. "I'm mated and even if I wanted to fool around, I wouldn't go around chasing after the Alpha's pregnant mate." Julian had said during our little conversation.Where did she run off to whenever she tried avoiding me? Where was she the night I passed out on the kitchen floor? Why do I feel like Carly was hiding something, and maybe Addison had nothing to do with her disappearance? Maybe she took advantage of Addison's presence to cover her tracks, making Addison take the blame while she went off to sunset. Why? Did she get any intel on our plans? I doubt that.If Julia

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 115 - BEST FRIEND

JACE BALDWIN'S POV "Alpha, we've searched everywhere, but we can't find her." Slamming my palms hard against the table with enough force to make its legs vibrate, I stood up in anger, knocking off the seat in the process. "If you can't find her then you didn't fucking look everywhere, now did you?"The man before me took a step backward, shivering in fear and afraid that he could get punished for reporting in the negative."I'm sorry, Alpha." "Your goddess-forsaken apology is not what will bring me what I need. FINE HER NOW!"I swiped at the table, spilling its contents to the floor, my breathing heavy as I glared at the man rushing out of the office. How was it so damn hard for my best trackers and hunters to find a pregnant woman?"I'm sure Carly didn't evaporate into thin air, so she's out there somewhere and needs to be found, damnit," I growled into the room that was void of life. What went wrong? She was fine and happy with Ian, Mia, and that silly boyfriend of hers. Or did h

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 114 - ONE WAY OR ANOTHER

It was my turn to do the pacing, and I was hating every second of it. I tried talking with Jace, but he wasn't having any of it; he just stared at me as if I wasn't standing right in front of him. No, I guess I was pretty much invisible since he just looked through me before walking away, without a word or sign of recognition. What do I do now? How do I convince him I had nothing to do with Carly's decision? As useless as Ophelia could be, I needed her and Paula at the moment but they didn't want to see me, which was annoying as fuck. Storming towards my kitchen counter, I plucked my phone from the flat surface and dialed Ophelia's number, but it went straight to voicemail, the same with Paula. "Ahhhhhh! I screamed in frustration before storming off to my room, the cellphone clutched tight in my hand. I dialed another number as I plopped down on the bed with crossed fingers, hoping this time I wouldn't hit the machine. "Addison." A deep, masculine voice greeted me from the ot
