CARLY WOODS POV

I held my breath as I slowly poked my head out of the door that was slightly ajar.

My eyes immediately caught the dark brown wooden door that was merely some feet ahead of mine, a small sigh escaped my lips when the door was as unopened as every other day.

Knowing that I was safe, I took in a deep breath before pushing the door wide enough for my whale body to make it through.

With careful steps, I successfully made it to out of the room like every other day without coming in contact with Darren.

Yes, I've been avoiding him since the night we had that talk in his office. I needed time to come to terms with everything he said and being around him wasn't going to do me any help.

How come I didn't feel the same rush of emotions I felt when I first learnt that Nate was my mate? The instant connection that was never there before that day, the strong pull I felt to be around him, to be held by him, to kiss him.
