Lisa’s POV

Everything happened too fast.

One second Derek was sitting calmly with his drink, and the next second he exploded out of his chair like a beast breaking free from chains.

His fist slammed into the first man’s face so hard I heard a loud crack.

The man flew backward and crashed into a wooden table, breaking it completely.

The whole tavern went silent.

The second man barely had time to react before Derek grabbed him by the throat and slammed him against the wall. The walls shook.

Lisa’s POVThe black fog exploded outward across the tavern floor.People screamed immediately and stumbled backward, knocking chairs and cups over themselves. My heart jumped into my throat as the strange fog twisted through the air like something alive.“What the hell?” someone shouted. The tavern owner crossed himself quickly and backed away in fear. The fog swirled once around Derek. Then disappeared completely. The cloaked man was gone. Like he had never been there in the first place. The entire tavern became dead silent. I grabbed Derek’s arm tightly. “Derek…” His body felt tense beneath my fingers. His glowing eyes slowly scanned the room.“He’s gone,” I whispered.“I can see that," he muttered through his teeth. One of the men near the counter muttered nervously, “Witchcraft…”Another immediately stood up. “I want no part in this.”Suddenly people began leaving the tavern quickly. Some grabbed their things and rushed outside. Others avoided looking directly at Derek.Within m

The walls shook.People around us hurried away from their seats, some pulling out knives immediately.“Derek, stop!” I shouted. But he wasn’t listening. His red eyes flashed dangerously as he squeezed the man’s throat tighter. “You touched my food,” he growled. The man choked violently, scratching at Derek’s hand. The first man groaned from the broken table, blood pouring from his nose. He grabbed a dagger from his belt and rushed toward Derek from behind.“Behind you!” I screamed.Derek moved instantly. Still holdin

Lisa's POVThe men all turned at once to stare at the man who suddenly called Derek a prince. Then they slowly looked back at Derek again. For a second, nobody said anything. One of the men finally laughed awkwardly and slapped the man beside him. “Go back to sleep, fool. You drank too much.”But the man immediately sat upright.“No,” he said firmly. “Don’t you idiots know him?”The others frowned. “The prince of Bloodshot pack,” the man continued loudly.A few of them burst into laughter. “Bloodshot has only one prince,” one said. “And his name is not Derek.”The man cursed loudly. “Fuck you all. That’s him. The long lost prince.” He turned quickly to Derek, eyes wide with excitement. “Prince Derek, please tell them I’m not out of my mind.”I looked at Derek nervously. Derek looked at me too for one brief second before finally speaking.“He’s saying the truth,” Derek said calmly. “Tyler is my brother. I was taken captive for years, but I managed to escape.”The boat suddenly became v

Lisa's POVThe gunshot echoed through the valley like thunder.I flinched hard, my ears ringing instantly. For one horrible second, I thought Derek had been shot.“Derek!” I screamed, turning toward him. But he was already moving. His body slammed into mine before I could react, knocking me flat against the rocky ground. Another gunshot exploded above us, the bullet hitting a stone nearby and sending sharp fragments flying into my face.“Stay down,” Derek growled. My heart pounded violently. I looked around wildly, trying to see where the shots were coming from, but the fog rolling through the valley made it almost impossible. Then I saw movement. Figures, several of them. They stepped out slowly from behind the rocks lining the ridge. Men dressed in dark cloaks and leather armor, their rifles pointed directly at us. Silver bullets. At least ten of them.My stomach dropped. One of the men smirked when he saw us on the ground. “Well, well,” he called out loudly. “Look what we found.”

Lisa's POVThe name itself sent a cold shiver down my spine.“What do you mean by death valley?” I asked, my voice quieter than I intended.Derek didn’t answer immediately. He crouched low, brushing his fingers over the damp soil, then sniffed the air. His expression hardened. “It's a cursed route,” he muttered. “a graveyard for any supernatural being that dares to cross it, even witches.”My stomach tightened. “You brought us here on purpose?”He straightened, eyes flicking to mine. “No. We didn’t have a choice. This is the fastest route to get beyond their reach. If we turn back, those demons, or worse, will find us before nightfall.”I didn’t like it. Every instinct in me screamed that this place was wrong. I tried to calm my pounding heart.“Derek,” I stepped closer. “What if there are more creatures here? What if what we see in this valley is far more cruel than the ones we saw in the forest?”“Like I said, we don't have a choice,” he cut me off, his vo

  • Dark Chains: Bound by Fate & Passion   Chapter 27

Lisa's POVI could not take one single step. My legs felt anchored there, into the wet earth, and froze at the sight of those green-eyed beasts. My claws twitched a little, but my body could not respond. I could barely take breath as I was looking at them."Lisa." The name echoed through the haze, sharp and authoritative.I slowly turned my head. In the meantime, Derek had reached to stand right next to me, his body tautly hard, his eyes dark with moods brewing. He saw them, the ugly looking forest demons hiding behind the trees; their glowing eyes locked on us.And without ever seeing hesitation, Derek shifted. The sickening sound of bones snapping, skin tearing, and rebirthing into fur sent an icy shiver up my spine.I have seen him shift once or twice, but never like this. Never with such swiftness. It was akin to watching some wild thing tear itself free from a maw. His wolf stood taller, darker, more terrifying than I remembered: Muscles rippled underneath the thic

Lisa's POVI walked down to the river and had a quick bath. The water was cold, but I didn’t mind. My body still felt weird after everything that happened. When I came back, Derek was already sitting by a fire, roasting a deer. I had no idea how he caught it so fast. My ey
