Lisa's POV
Hot tears streamed down my face, and I could still feel my half-wolf, even though I couldn’t change or control her. I snarled out, “Just kill me and get it over with.” "Kill you?" Cole chuckled, "What I'm going to do to you, will be worse than death," he said, as he moved closer. "Bastard, you ruined my mating ceremony." He gave me a great blow on my face. I fell hard on the floor. My vision turned blurry, everything went dark and I lost consciousness. ***** I found myself awake, my body aching as I tried to sit up, only to see that I was in the back of a caged carriage, surrounded by guards around the carriage. I looked down to see my hands and legs were chained. “Our master's slave is finally awake!” One of the guards announced it as the others laughed. I could see a black huge gate open as we went in. I have to think of how to escape now, before it's too late." I muttered to myself. “Let me out of here now!” I screamed, as I pulled the iron cage with the little strength I had. “Come on now," one of the guards said, "You can do better than that, we all like it when you scream. It turns us on." "perhaps, you still think daddy is going to rescue you?" another one taunted. "I don't deserve to be treated like a slave." I yelled. "Yes you do.. You're a bastard, your mother was a whore. You're nothing but a slave." The guard mocked. "Let her keep barking," Another guard cut in, "She won't survive the night." The guards laughed so hard, as if they found his statement amusing. I placed my head in the middle of the iron bars of the cage, "Oh, moon goddess, help me." I said under my breath, "Save me from this misery." Soon, we reached a place that looked like a very big field, with lots of werewolves littered around the field. It was more like a battle arena. Wild cheers rose from the Redmoon Pack as two contestants were called out. My heart skipped a beat, why did Alpha Cole bring me here? I took a closer look at the contestants, the first one was baldhead, his muscles were as large as my thighs. He wore a proud look on his face as he beat his chest to the crowd’s cheers. The other male that was called out had the crowd in silence. I swallowed a lump at his intimidating stature; his black hair glued to his sweaty skin like he had been fighting. Just then, I saw Alpha Cole standing up from a throne like chair. “Derek, once again, it appears you’ve beaten one of my best men,” he said to the huge, dark-haired male. I felt a gush of adrenaline that caused the hair on my skin to rise the moment our eyes met. I looked away immediately. “So, ladies and gentlemen, tonight is going to be special, because I brought back a special gift for you: the princess of the Umbra Pack graces us with her presence!” He said it mockingly as the whole crowd cheered. “And if any one of you wins this contest, you will mount her and take her as yours!” He said. My heart dropped to my stomach. He had just pledged me to be taken by one of these brute beasts. My stomach churned, and I could feel my body shiver from fear. I turned to face Cole, but he was not done speaking, "Please," he said, facing me, "Which one of these slaves of mine would you love to spend the night with?" A wicked grin appeared on his face. "Bring her out of the cage, so she can get a proper view of the battle." One of the guards opened the cage and dragged me out to the open space. I felt like I was going to pass out, I could barely stay on my feet. “If this is how it ends, so be it, but I would never give him the satisfaction of seeing me beg or cry. “Let the tournament begin!” He announced. The baldhead immediately changed into his wolf, while the man with his dark hair stayed still and composed, like he owned the planet. I couldn’t help but feel drawn to him in such a way that almost suppressed my fear. Why wasn’t he changing? Is he tired of fighting? Perhaps he just wants to die once and for all. The baldhead had completely changed into a wolf, and he dashed towards the other opponent, who still held his ground with his eyes closed, as though anticipating death or waiting for something. The wolf leaped into the air, aiming for what I supposed should be the neck, but the other man dodged, its jaws snapping inches from the man's throat. He twisted, barely avoiding the killing bite, and slammed his fist into its ribs. The wolf yelped but recovered instantly. I took a deep breath, but the crowd cheered him on. I was wrong, he knows what he's doing. The wolf circled him, its golden eyes burning with rage. The wolf charged again. This time, the man didn’t dodge. Instead, he stepped into the attack, catching the beast by its throat. His fingers dug into the thick fur, pressing against its windpipe as they stumbled to the ground. The wolf thrashed violently, its claws shredding his arms, but the other man tightened his grip. With a final, desperate snarl, the wolf jerked, then stilled. Its body went limp, it transformed back into the baldhead man. In human form, without turning into a wolf, the dark haired man had won the whole damn tournament. He had the strength of a monster. I had never seen anyone with that kind of strength. The crowds cheered him on, Alpha Cole nodded his head in amusement. "That was extraordinary." He said, "I'm impressed." The thought of what comes next sent shivers along my spine. Alpha Cole was going to offer me to this brute, giant beast.Lisa's POV"Where are you?" Derek's voice echoed in my head again, weak but clear. "I can feel your heart racing, Lisa. What's happening?""They're dragging me," I replied, keeping my thoughts guarded even though panic was crawling up my spine. "The healer handed me over to Alex's men. I'm sorry, I didn't see it coming.I stumbled as one of them pulled me roughly by the arm. My legs were still unsteady from the mountain ash. "But don't worry about me," I added quickly. "I'll deal with them once the mountain ash fades. I'll take them down.""NO!" Derek's voice was sharp in my head now. "Don't, you can't take all of them. And going back to that prison-""It's not an option," I finished for him, "But what choice do we have? what else can I do? Tell me?"There was silence for a moment. Then his voice returned, low and strained. "I'm near the first village, remember? The place where we rested, by the big oak tree.""I remember but I don't understand how this has to
Lisa's POVThen one of the men turned to the healer, "If we somehow find out that you had a hand in helping Derek escape then we'd be back for our gold, and this time around, you'd wish you never met us."She swallowed hard, "I swear by the gods, I had no hand in his escape, I still find it difficult to believe, because he was too weak to carry himself, barely alive."They paced in tight circles outside the cave, growling curses under their breath.“He couldn’t have just vanished!” one of them snarled. “You said he was dying!”“I told you what I saw,” the healer snapped, looking just as stunned as the rest of us. “He was barely breathing. Bound in iron, drenched in wolfsbane. There was no way he could escape, unless someone helped him.”I raised my head at that, still dragging my feet with every step as we moved through the woods. “No one helped him,” I muttered. “You all wanted him dead.”The man closest to me shot me a glare. “You think this is a joke?”“N
Lisa's POV“You can't do this to me."She tilted her head. “That’s where you truly belong. You were destined to be part of Alex’s bloodline. Now that he’s gone, Klaus awaits.”My stomach twisted. The name sent a chill racing through me.I have heard about Klaus, he's times hundred of Alex's cruelty. “I’m not some package you can ship off,” I snapped. She didn't say anything, she just smiled, and then I heard was the sound of boots scraping against stone.Voices followed, low and gruff. They were men.“Damn. She was right. Look at her,” one of them said, stepping into the dim cave where I hung shackled to the wall like some criminal.I kept my eyes low, breathing steady. Weak as I was, I refused to give them the satisfaction of seeing fear in me.“She’s real,” another voice muttered, almost in awe. “The girl who ran off with the beast the same mutt that killed Alex.”Their laughter echoed around the damp walls.“Not so tough now, are you?” one of them sneered, st
Lisa's POV I clenched my jaw. “I still don't believe a single word you say.”She looked at me for a long time. Then, to my surprise, her expression cracked, just a little.“I cared for you, Lisa,” she said softly. “I still do. That’s why I won’t kill you. But I can’t let you free.”She turned and walked toward the cave entrance.“Wait!” I shouted. “What if you’re wrong? What if your visions are twisted, just like the witch’s?”She paused. But didn’t answer. Then she left me in silence. My wrists throbbed against the cold metal. Every breath felt heavier than the last. I leaned my head back against the stone wall and closed my eyes, willing my tears to stay hidden. Not because I wasn’t in pain, God knows I was, but because I needed to think. To plan. To survive. But there was no plan. No power. Just this crushing weight of betrayal. Again.I lowered my head and whispered Derek’s name, brokenly. “Derek…”I didn’t expect anything. I just needed
Lisa's POVThe first thing I felt was the cold, not the heat from the healer's hut. Sort of made me wonder if she kept me outside to sleep. The cold bit into my skin, crawled down my bones. My head throbbed, heavy and fogged. When I tried to sit up, my eyes still closed and heavy with sleep or should I say weakness, I felt metal clinked around my hands like chains. My eyes widened immediately to see my wrists and ankles were bound with thick iron shackles secured to the stone walls.Panic flooded me, and my heart pounded hard within my chest.I struggled, twisting hard, my strength failing me. My wolf, she was there, I could feel her, but she was quiet, distant, like she was being smothered. What… what happened? What was I doing here? And more importantly, what happened to my strength? This questions swirled in my head.I remembered eating the stew that the healer gave to me and then nothing, I don't remember any other thing. I don't even know how I got here.
Lisa's POVI turned away slowly, my arms trembling under Derek’s weight, heart pounding against my ribs. I was ready to take another painful step back into the unknown when a voice cut through the silence.“Let her pass." It was a woman's voice, an older woman.I paused, then turned to face them, looking up.An older woman stepped into view, her gray hair tied in a thick braid that hung over her shoulder, her eyes sharp and commanding. The men stiffened at the sight of her.“She’s one of them,” the man with the shotgun muttered. “A werewolf. She’ll bring trouble. We're being merciful not to even kill her."My breath caught in my throat. Kill me?The woman narrowed her eyes. “Werewolves pass through this village all the time. We don’t stop them. None of you tries to stop them. But this one, you see her tired, bleeding, and nearly broken, now you want to act brave.”Another villager spoke up. “She’s carrying one of them. An alpha, no less."“And he’s dying,” th
