The hopelessness in her voice screamed she was telling the truth, but I didn't want her to fool me just in case she was lying.

"If Beta Aeron was here, he would be able to tell the difference. You are wicked," she said to me, and it bothered me.

"What is your fixation with Aeron, by the way? What is your history with him?" I asked, hoping she might volunteer the information.

"Ask him," She said, anger evident in her tone, and I smiled.

" Don't test me, Laila. I am the one in charge here. If you don't answer, then you will watch me torture it out of Monsoor. I am sure his body can take some more," I said, and she widened her eyes with fear. I wasn't going to do it, but she didn't have to know that part.

"We were once locked up together, but his grandfather was able to strike a good bargain and got him out while we remained," she said and so

I have the feeling that the siblings involvement in their arrival is involuntary. Stasia is using magic on them to get there. And Laila’s desires for Aeron is unconsciously channeling Stasia to them.
