Faith’s POV

I close the door behind Alessandro, and instantly I feel a fluttering in my chest. The kind of fluttering that makes no sense, but somehow makes perfect sense at the same time. It's like my heart's trying to do a little dance, and I'm stuck trying to figure out the rhythm. As I lead him into the kitchen, I can't help but wonder why on earth he would choose to help me. I mean, sure, I’m grateful, but we barely know each other. How did he even know where I lived?

I lean against the counter, trying to act casual, but I feel that awkward, yet warm, tension in the air. There's a comfortable silence hanging between us, like we're both waiting for something to break it. My mind races with a thousand questions, but for some reason, I only ask one.

"I guess a thank you is in order for getting me home safe," I say, offering him a small, sincere smile. It feels right to say it, even if it’s the smallest of gestures.

"You don’t need to," he replies casually, as if it’s no big deal. "It

  • Dark Obsession   Chapter 11: Getting Ready\ Reunion

Faith's POV:I stand in front of my mirror, the weight of my decisions pulling at me. A dress in one hand, another in the other. My heart races as I contemplate what to wear for my date with Alessandro, all the while, Dimitry’s warning echoes in my mind. Alone in my room, I try to rationalize, to ignore the gnawing feeling at the pit of my stomach.Alessandro had been nothing but kind to me, a gentleman—an old-fashioned type of man I thought I could trust. So why did Dimitry’s words hang over me like a dark cloud? He’s dangerous, Faith. Stay away. But… nothing about Alessandro ever felt dangerous. He asked me out on a date, and he treated me with such warmth, such respect. Was I missing something? My thoughts were a tangled mess, and I just couldn’t make sense of it all.Suddenly, the shrill ring of my phone slices through the silence. I glance down to see my mum’s name flashing on the screen. A sigh of relief escapes me. She’s the one person who could always calm my nerves. I answer

  • Dark Obsession   Chapter 10: Walking

Faith's Pov:Once I locked up the shop and turned around, I was met with a sight that made my heart skip a beat. Alessandro was standing there, his eyes fixed on the sky, looking up at the moon. The way the moonlight bathed him in a soft glow made him look almost ethereal, like he was a part of the night itself. He stood still for a moment, taking in a deep breath of the cold, crisp air."Beautiful, isn’t it?" I asked, a small smile tugging at my lips as I couldn’t help but admire the view in front of me, both the moon and him. I was never a big fan of the cold, but somehow, with him here, it didn’t feel so bad.He glanced over at me then, his eyes flicking away from the moon to meet mine. “This is my day and night, it feels like,” he replied, a hint of something unreadable in his voice.I raised an eyebrow, curiosity piqued. “How so?” I asked, genuinely wanting to know more about him. Alessandro was a mystery wrapped in layers, and every time I thought I could peel one back, I was lef

  • Dark Obsession   Chapter 9: First Day On The Job

Faith's Pov:I woke with a gasp, my chest tight as if I had just run a marathon in my sleep. The nightmares were relentless, plaguing my every dream. I hadn’t had a peaceful night’s sleep since I was a child. Every time I tried to close my eyes, I was pulled into a nightmare that felt too real, too vivid. I blinked rapidly, my gaze falling to the alarm clock next to my bed. Three in the morning. Of course. I groaned in frustration, flopping back down onto my pillow, my body a tangled mess of frustration and exhaustion. When can I start living without fear of him? I thought aloud, the words hanging in the dark room, as if saying them out loud might make them true.Looking back, I could hardly believe how naive I’d been. Cain had twisted everything, made me believe that it was my fault, that I deserved every little bit of pain I’d endured. For so long, I believed him. But then Georgia had knocked some sense into me, telling me to run, to hide, that staying with Cain could very well be my

  • Dark Obsession   Chapter 8: Visit

Alessandro's Pov:I barged into the house, gripping the stair railing like it was the only thing keeping me tethered to my sanity. The stench of her blood still lingered in the air, invading my senses like a poison. I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to push it away, trying to regain some semblance of control. My vision flickered red, the hunger clawing at me like an animal, demanding satisfaction. Stumbling into the kitchen, I yanked open the fridge, ripping open a blood bag, and shoved it to my mouth like it was the only thing keeping me from losing myself completely. I leaned back against the counter, savoring the cool relief as it flowed through me.“Well, well, well,” I heard a voice from behind me.A voice that I hadn't heard in over a century. My body went rigid, all the blood in my veins freezing as I turned around, slowly—too slowly—my heart still thundering in my chest. And there he was. Luca.Of course. He had to be here, didn’t he? Why wouldn’t he be?I stared at him for a mom

  • Dark Obsession   Chapter 6: New Job/ New Faces

Faith’s POVI leave the café with my half-full cup of caramel goodness and decide to take a little detour to the park. I find a quiet spot under a tree and settle in with my book, The House Beyond The Gate. The warm coffee in my hand, the occasional rustle of the leaves... it should be peaceful, right? Instead, my mind refuses to cooperate.I take a sip, letting the sweetness settle in my chest, and sigh. Who was that stranger?I glance around, taking in the calm, almost too perfect surroundings. People are walking their dogs, a couple of kids are playing catch... all so idyllic. Too normal. It’s as if the universe is trying a little too hard to convince me that everything is perfectly fine. But, of course, my brain just has to ruin it.So, back to that stranger. Did I give him my address? Maybe he was a friend of Dimitri’s? But no... if that were the case, I’d have heard from one of them by now. Great, so now I’m left wondering if I’ve been kidnapped by some random guy or...I pause,
