Damien's POV

It was too hard for me to move past this new development.

A life without Arianna was totally useless. I shouldn't have listened to my mother while she was persuading me so much.

“My Lord, you haven't had anything good to eat or drink in days,” Victor interrupted my peace.

Victor was my beta, and he was loyal as well. He was in support of me rejecting Arianna.

“Why are you here? I asked you to leave me alone. I need some time alone!!” I yelled, my voice roaring and thundering with so much fury.

“I'm sorry,” he apologised, quickly heading out of my chamber immediately.

Just as he went through the exit, my mother quickly turned it to an entrance, walking in with a firm look on her face.

“What do you think you're doing?” She asked, glaring at the empty wine bottle in my hand and my sober face.

It was hard for me to get drunk, and no matter how hard I tried, I just ended up feeling fed up with the wine without getting drunk.

“What does it look like, huh? I'm drowning in the same misery you created for me,” I replied.

She lifted her hand immediately and threw a firm slap to my cheek without thinking twice about it.

“Do you realise that you're an Alpha? You deduct dignity, Damien,” she said firmly.

Placing my hand against my right cheek, I stared at her for a while and then burst into laughter.

“What's so funny?” Mum asked confusingly as she glared at me.

“An Alpha, right? Does that mean I have no right to live the life I choose to live?” I questioned her.

“You do. But you have to make decisions that won't put your people in danger. I can't believe we're still talking about this,” she replied, shaking her head in disappointment.

“Of course, we should be talking about this. It's my happiness. You made me stand there and bluntly reject a mate that my heart still yearns for. Where's the dignity in that?” Tears slowly trailed down my eyes as my heart squeezed with so much pain.

“Man up, Damien. This isn't the man I raised you to be,” She kissed her teeth in disappointment as she stormed out from my chamber.

It was time for me to make my own decisions. I was done sitting back and watching her make decisions for me like I couldn't even speak for myself.

I grabbed my robe and quickly headed out to my stable as I pulled out my horse for a ride.

I was about to climb when Victor rushed in immediately.

“I'm coming along with you,” he said, pulling his horse along.

“That's not happening. You don't even know where I'm going,” I replied, attempting to dismiss him immediately.

“You can't stay away from her,” he said.

Taking one more look at him as I climbed my horse, I agreed and allowed him to come along with me.

Maybe he could help me beg her if the need arises. But I'm not casting all my hopes on him at the same time.

We both rode to Arianna's house, and surprisingly, we met her grandmother sitting right outside her house while enjoying the warm air outside.

I quickly alighted from my horse and slowly approached her, keeping a soft smile on my face.

“I can smell an Alpha when I meet one. What are you doing here?” Her senses revealed my identity immediately.

I swallowed hard, shocked by her awkwardly sharp senses.

“Arianna…I've come looking for her,” I revealed.

She cleared her throat, glaring straight at me with a firm look on her eyes.

“Maybe I was right about you after all. You are really a coward who hides behind the guise of an Alpha,” her subtle insult sank right into my ears.

“I've come to plead for her forgiveness. I was a fool to have rejected her in the first place,” I confessed.

She smiled softly, keeping her unwavering gaze fixed onto me.

“Arianna has gone to find a better path for herself.”

My eyebrows furrowed. “What do you mean gone?”

She pointed her hand towards the North. “A path that she must pass through alone.”

I quickly climbed my horse and raced it, heading towards the gates of the wall.

She must have tried to leave, but I'm not sure she has gone through that gate.

My heart raced heavily with every mile I covered, racing with every progress I made.

I shouldn't have let her go in the first place.

It was hard for me to live without her. This realization is heartbreaking, and my heart has never felt peace since she left.

Maybe I can still make things right between us. Maybe I can still make amendments for my foolishness.

Several thoughts came flooding through my mind, clouding my thoughts with so much doubt.

Eventually, we were lucky enough to get to the gate in time.

“Greetungs, My Lord!” They echoed, bowing their heads slightly.

“Dod you see any lady walk through this gate?: I asked desperately.

“We saw two. The women were so tired, and they looked like they had a long journey ahead,” one of the guards replied.

“Why didn't you make an attempt to stop her?” I scratched my head vigorously, trying so hard to keep my cool and bearings.

“But you never gave us such an order, My Lord,” they replied.

They're right anyway. Damn it!!

I paced from one corner to the order, pondering on my next course of action.

Suddenly, a sharp thought struck me.

“Come on. Let's go after her. I'm sure she wouldn't have gone too far,” I urged, climbing my horse without hesitation.

“Come one, Damien. Let's just go back to the castle. You need to accept reality and move on,” Victor replied.

“But I can still get to her,” I said.

“I know. But we have to go back. This isn't worth it,” he replied.

I was torn between returning back to the castle or chasing after someone I claim to desperately love.

  • The Alpha's Last Chance    CHAPTER 72: Walked right into it.

Celine's POVRiding through the streets of Mystic Falls, something felt really off about the environment. Everything seemed to have changed from the way I left it before I journeyed off from this city. The witches who I had once given hope looked like their hopes were taken away. Soldiers littered the streets like it was a war, and none of them kept eye contact with me. They all looked away from my eyes, making sure their eyes weren't going to meet with mine. At this point, there's no doubt that there's something wrong. But there's only one way to find out. “Something seems off about this place.” Luckily, Hale notices it as well. I take a deep breath. “I really hope it's not what I'm thinking about.”“What are you thinking about?” “Maybe I made a mistake leaving Mystic Falls in the first place.” I don't feel Alpha Damien connected to me anymore. That's giving me more reason to doubt everything around me. What if Vincent failed? I strike the horse, racing faster towards t

  • The Alpha's Last Chance    CHAPTER 71: Mirror of Doubt

Arianna's POV I'd like to watch her do her best to show me how Celine is behind everything. Celine doesn't even have powers. Yes, she's a witch but she's entirely empty. She doesn't have magic or whatever so how can she possibly command troops to attack me. Theresa stands, grabbing my hand gently as she walks out of the room, leading me to her basement. “What do you want to show me?” “Patience, Arianna. You asked for this. I'm only about to show you what you asked to see.” No matter what she shows me, I don't think I would be able to believe her. The unveils an old mirror right in the centre of the basement. “Look into the mirror.” “I'm just seeing myself.” “Look closer, Arianna. Look closer.” My gaze narrows, taking a deeper look at the mirror. Slowly, my reflection suddenly disappears and then Mystic Falls castle suddenly appears on it. I startle, jerking back immediately. “What's going on?” She smiles gently. “That's Mystic Falls castle. Surrounded by

  • The Alpha's Last Chance    CHAPTER 70: Denial

Arianna's POVTheresa calling me all of a sudden to have a discussion with me is something I didn't see coming. I'm pretty nervous to hear what she has to say. I take a seat right next to her, waiting for her to come out of her meditation state. It's also weird that she called me while she was in this state. This woman is really giving me the creeps, and I must commend her aura as well. It's way above the chart. Just look at the way she noticed me walking inside, and— I need to focus. Focus, Arianna. You're definitely here to talk about something very important. You shouldn't be messing around right now. Finally, she opens her eyes, turning her gaze towards me. “How do you like my house?” She smiles, making me feel a warm sense of welcome around her. “Thank you very much for your hospitality.” “Don't mention. You deserve even more than I can give.” “Why did you call me?” She smiles. “You're just like your mother. You always want to jump straight to the point without wasti

  • The Alpha's Last Chance    CHAPTER 69: The safer side.

Arianna's POVI'm finding it hard to believe that Ralph is speaking from his right senses. How does he want me to believe that somebody I literally grew up with throughout my whole life would want to hurt me all of a sudden? “Ralph, I'm you must be stressed. That should explain why you're talking like this.”He shakes his head gently and then exhales heavily. “I'm sure it will be hard for you to believe. It's a shame that I can't prove it to you.” He's still going about the same subject. “I'd love for us to drop this topic. Let's talk about something else.” He clears his throat. “What do you want us to talk about?” Well, I've been meaning to talk about our stay here. From the look of things, it seems like we're going to be out here for a pretty long time. I love it out here anyway, but sometimes I wonder if my grandmother is doing alright over there. “How long are we going to stay in this realm?” I know that question is coming too soon. But I'm already feeling uncomfortable

  • The Alpha's Last Chance    CHAPTER 68 : Unbelievable Secrets

Arianna's POVWhat's going on inside there? My heart races with tremendous fear, and the night slowly draws to an end, but yet there's no sign that this fight is going to end. The whole house literally crumbles under the weight of the magic inside there. It just looks like the whole thing is going to fall apart. But Xavier? He looks rather calm and reserved. From his demeanour, he looks rather convinced that this whole thing will end in our favour. But I don't feel that way. My insides feel turned over completely, and he races with throbbing fear. My palms already feel cold, and the pressure of blood pumping through my veins is causing me to sweat profusely. Suddenly, in the midst of the whole tension and the troubled heart, Ralph and Theressa both walk out from the burning building. I instinctively rush to Ralkh, hugging him tightly. But I snap out of the moment immediately and pull away from him. “Somebody actually missed me.” “That's totally wrong. I was only worried tha

  • The Alpha's Last Chance    CHAPTER 67: Final resort

Celine's POVHale knocks on the door, hoping to get a response. “Are you sure he's inside?” “Of course I am. Just relax and let me do the thinking.” “Fine. You can have it your way.” Standing outside here, I must confess, it seems like the man isn't home at all. But just when I had finally given up hope, the lock clicks and the door opens. His expression quickly turns into fright immediately he sets his eyes on her. “How are you doing, my old friend?” Hale smirks as she casually moves hom out of the way, walking into the house like she owned it. I follow up behind her because I don't want to seem too left out. “I…I wasn't expecting you, Hale.” he stutters, trying as much as he can to keep his cool. “Yes. I never knew I needed you until last night.” His brows furrow as he glares at her, puzzled and trying to understand the whole scenario. “What do you want from me?” Hale smirks. “Relax, hun. Have you forgotten the sweet moments we shared together.” “Don't start with this,
