Chapter 15

Lana – POV

Ethan’s kiss leaves me breathless.

The moment stretches longer than it should.

Dangerously long.

His hand is still at the back of my neck, holding me close as if letting go would be a mistake.

Or maybe he simply doesn’t want to.

My fingers press against his chest, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat beneath my palm.

For a moment the world fades away.

Just like the first night.

Just like every moment when Ethan gets too close.

Then reality rushes back.

  • Dating The Wrong Brother   The Warning

Chapter 28 Lana – POV The boardroom slowly empties after the vote. Executives leave in small groups, whispering quietly to each other. Daniel stays behind, leaning against the table with a tired sigh. “Well,” he mutters. “That was fun.” “Fun?” I repeat. “That’s your word for it?” Daniel shrugs. “No one got fired.” “That’s a win in corporate politics.” Across the room, Ethan is speaking with two board members. He looks calm. But I know him well enough now to recognize the tension in his shoulders. Selene tried to remove him from power. That’s not something you simply forget. Daniel watches his brother for a moment. “You know,” he says quietly, “I’ve never seen him fight like that for anyone.” My pulse quickens slightly. “That wasn’t about me.” Daniel glances at me. “You keep telling yourself that.” Before I can answer, Ethan walks over. “Everything alright here?” he asks. Daniel grins. “Just discussing your dramatic boardroom performance.” Ethan rolls his ey

  • Dating The Wrong Brother   The Vote

Chapter 27 Lana – POV The boardroom is already full when I arrive. Executives. Board members. Legal advisors. Everyone is here. And the tension in the room is almost suffocating. This isn’t a normal meeting. This is a battlefield. Daniel stands near the window, speaking quietly with two board members. When he sees me enter, his expression tightens slightly. “Hey,” he says, walking over. “You came.” “I wasn’t invited,” I reply. “But apparently I’m the reason for the meeting.” Daniel sighs. “Selene made sure the board wanted you here.” “Wonderful.” “Just stay calm,” he says. “That’s the plan.” Across the room, Selene sits at the long conference table, flipping through a folder of documents. She looks perfectly composed. Like she’s about to present a winning case. My stomach tightens. Then the doors open again. Ethan walks in. The entire room quiets immediately. It’s impossible not to notice him. He walks to the head of the table and sets a folder down calmly

  • Dating The Wrong Brother   The Breaking Point

Chapter 26 Lana – POV The morning after the gala feels eerily quiet. Too quiet. Which is never a good sign in corporate environments. I arrive at Hale Industries earlier than usual, hoping to avoid the inevitable whispers. Unfortunately, the moment I step onto the executive floor, I realize that strategy failed. People stop talking when I walk past. Assistants suddenly become very interested in their computer screens. A few executives glance at me with open curiosity. Perfect. Selene clearly made sure the entire company knows about last night. I push open my office door and drop my bag onto the desk. My phone immediately buzzes. Daniel: You alive? I type back quickly. Me: Barely. Before I can set the phone down, there’s a knock on my door. “Come in.” Daniel steps inside, holding two coffees again. “Emergency supply,” he says. “You’re becoming predictable.” “I’m becoming helpful.” He hands me the cup and sits across from my desk. “You look like you didn’t sleep

  • Dating The Wrong Brother   The Announcement

Chapter 25 Lana – POV The moment Ethan starts walking toward the center of the ballroom, my heart begins pounding. Fast. Hard. Dangerously. “Daniel,” I whisper. “What is he doing?” Daniel watches his brother with a mixture of curiosity and concern. “That,” he says slowly, “is a very good question.” The music fades as Ethan approaches the small stage where the investors have been giving speeches all evening. Several conversations around the room begin to quiet. Because when the CEO of Hale Industries walks toward the stage unexpectedly… People pay attention. Ethan picks up the microphone. “Good evening.” The entire ballroom falls silent. Investors. Executives. Board members. Everyone is watching him now. Including Selene. She stands near the front of the room, her expression calm but tense. She didn’t expect this. Neither did I. Ethan continues. “I know tonight was meant to be a celebration for our investors.” “And it still will be.” “But first, I’d like to

  • Dating The Wrong Brother   The Exposure

Chapter 24 Lana – POV For a few seconds, the world disappears. The city lights blur behind Ethan’s shoulders as he kisses me. My hands instinctively grip the front of his jacket, pulling him closer before I can think about the consequences. Which, unfortunately, are very real. Because the moment we pull apart— A voice cuts through the night air. “Well.” “That confirms it.” My stomach drops. Selene. Ethan turns slowly. She’s standing at the balcony doorway, her silver dress catching the light from the ballroom behind her. But she’s not alone. Two investors stand behind her. And they clearly saw everything. Great. Just great. Selene’s expression is calm. Almost satisfied. “Good evening,” she says. Neither Ethan nor I respond. The investors exchange uncomfortable glances. Selene steps onto the balcony. “I was wondering why you disappeared,” she continues lightly. “Now I understand.” Ethan’s voice is cold. “This isn’t the place.” “No?” She gestures toward the

  • Dating The Wrong Brother   A Dangerous Night

Chapter 23 Lana – POV By the afternoon, it becomes clear that Selene has changed her strategy. She’s no longer attacking openly. Now she’s working quietly. Which somehow feels worse. Three meetings are suddenly canceled. Two department heads refuse to approve the restructuring plan without “further review.” And the financial analysis I prepared this morning is delayed by yet another “technical issue.” I sit in my office staring at my laptop. Selene isn’t trying to destroy me immediately. She’s trying to wear me down. Slowly. Methodically. My phone buzzes. Daniel: You still alive in there? I sigh and reply. Me: Barely. A few seconds later, Daniel appears in the doorway. “You look like you need fresh air,” he says. “That obvious?” “Yes.” He walks inside and sits across from my desk. “Selene’s been busy today.” “I noticed.” Daniel leans back. “She’s organizing the investors’ gala tonight.” “The gala?” “Yes.” “The entire executive team will be there.” “That s
