***in the other world***

" Where is our son, my love? "

The woman asking the question was dressed in such a beautiful manner that her presence screamed royalty from every angle. The person in front of her looked equally elegant. A tall man on the throne. A king, with no mistakes.

" He is where he ought to be. You need not worry about him, sweetheart. Your body is still recovering. You should go back to your chamber. "

The woman's hair turned slowly red as she stepped towards the throne with calculated steps.

" Ought to be my king? And where is that? "

Her hair strands were slowly standing up as her voice intensified. " I carried him for nine months. I couldn't even hold him in my arms and feed him my milk... "

" I can't believe you, of all people, could be bothered by frivolous things like these... " The king made a sharp turn towards her and it made her even more angry.

Her head was now adorned with a gigantic crimson crown, made of supercharged, standing hair.

" Frivolous? You took away my newborn without my consent... "

" Mind your words, woman. I am your king before I am your husband. I don't need your consent regarding matters of the state. And the whereabouts of my heir is one of those. "

The queen immediately stopped in the middle of her track. She twitched her neck and her hair immediately fell over her shoulder. It was back to being dark brown once again. She retraced her steps and then muttered under her breath,

" Very well! Matter of the state, is it? Fine. I will then look for my son by myself. "

With that, she spared the king a tiny bow and then stormed out of the place.

The king sighed and a bald guy with blue skin immediately walked up to the king after his wife left.

" Did you take all necessary precautions? "

The king asked him and he nodded,

" Yes, your majesty. No soul from Chemora will be able to retrace our prince's footsteps. "

He quivered as he reported. The king smiled.

" Good. "

He folded his arms behind his head and relaxed,

" With the rise of the Southern Star, the great war is inevitable. We need to be smarter than the rest of them. We cannot put all our eggs in one basket. "

The bald, blue man laughed as if this was a very funny joke. His serpentine tongue flickered as he laughed, " Eggs are good. Your majesty. Eggs are tasty. " He added.

The king rolled his eyes, " You are stupid Azura! Stupid but useful. Now go back and rest! "

With that command, Azura turned into a blue ring of smoke and floated inside a blue stone ring that the king was wearing in his right hand. He stood up. Dusted his hand on his thigh and then walked out of the place, as if he was gliding on a water surface.

" What is it, my sisters? Why have you all gathered at this time of the night? "

This was the leader of her pack. A bold and beautiful lady with gray hair, touching the ground.

" You know the Southern Star has risen, don't you Asa? "

She nodded, " I do very well. And that is why we did what needed to be done. Why are we repeating the conversation? " She looked at the other women gathered on the seashore. They had similar long hair like her, all flowing in the wind, matching the flow of the waves in the ocean.

" Come and have a closer look over here! "

They called her towards them. Each had a peculiar variety of shells in their hand.

Asa got off her ride and casually strolled towards them. But as soon as her eyes fell on one of those shells, she hurried up her pace. He grabbed one shell after another and scrutinized each, with precision. Every time, her eyes opened more and more wide.

" Impossible. Why do I see three souls traveling instead of one? "

She gasped as she tried to shake the shells as if for a different result.

" Look carefully, Asa. Not three. Four souls are leaving the territories of Chemora at the same time. "

She watched with her eyes strained. There were three blueish tadpole-like shapes, swimming across what looked, from a distance, like a galaxy. In front of them, however, was another one. This tadpole-like thing looked a little reddish. It was a shade of pink if we were to be precise.

" Stop it! Stop them! We cannot let this be! "

Asa was rubbing the soft, gelatine like surface of the shell, apparently trying to stop the tadpoles from moving.

The woman nearest to her snatched the shell away from her grip.

" You know what you are asking is impossible. They have already stepped into the void. We have no control over who comes and goes, outside our world. Once they leave the void, we will not be able to monitor them as well. "

A look of horror spread over Asa's eyes.

" That's my son we are talking about here. I should have never bargained with his life for our better future. I sent him right towards his doom, with my own hands. "

It seemed like she was about to collapse when the other women, grabbed her from both sides.

" Don't worry! We cloaked him with a spell of which he is worthy. It will help minimize the turmoils that he faces when he lands on the other side. "

Said one.

" Don't blame yourself. You did not gamble your newborn for anything. Only his success can guarantee our survival in the future. There are dark days ahead. You cannot let your emotions override your rationale. "

Another one squeezed her on the left shoulder as she slowly stood up.

" When will he realize his powers on the other side? "

Asa suddenly asked, standing up tall and wiping her tears off.

" Right after attaining maturity. When he remembers his true nature."

" Good. " She turned back and was up on her ride. Her face pointing towards the horizon,

" Make sure to keep everything ready. We should be able to launch an assault right at the moment my son calls for help. "

With one sharp pull at the reign, she was up in the air as all the women stood up and bowed to bid her farewell.

" We will be ready, no matter what! " They replied in a chorus that echoed, beyond the oceans.

Several Years Later At Chemora -"Baba! Baba! Who is that girl? Why does she have a star over her head! ""Sssshhhh! " The little girl asking the question was instantly hushed. " Don't you know dear that we don't talk about her? Not in the night. No, my little darling. Never. I will tell you all about her in the morning. Alright? "But the little girl looked very angry at her mother. " But why mother, was she not the one who brought peace and tranquility over our planet? " Her tiny voice was fierce and strong. The woman quickly pulled the blinds around her place and closed her windows. The little girl had been looking at a statue at the Central Square. It was snowing in Chemora and the snow made the star above her head absolutely white. " I will tell you the story. I will tell you the story again. But not during the hours of the darkness, my little angel. It is not safe. You know what's going on. " The mother begged. Almost terrified. " Alright. I will wait till the sunrise. Yo

  • Daughter of the Damned   Start of a New Dawn

" It's time to say our goodbyes, my sweethearts. Let's meet again in the next life. "The boys opened their eyes as they sat up with a jolt. They were under the stars. There was darkness everywhere around them. They were on top of the highest peak around. Their clothes were around as they sat there and looked up at the twinkling wonders above their heads. A particularly bright star shone so bright that it made every around them as clear as the moonlight. They looked at each other and then they looked up above. They could not understand what they were doing. They immediately ran towards their clothes when the realisation of their n*kedness finally hit them. " Do we know each other? "One of them asked as the others looked at him with more confusion. " I think we do. Are we waiting for someone? " Another one asked. " I think we are here because of that. " The third one pointed at the Southern Star. " My knights! "They turned around as they heard a voice. " That's her. She i

" Why are we back here? "Xen called out in astonishment as they found themselves inside the enclosure from where they had retrieved the Heartstaff. " Hello boys! Hi Mira! Thank goodness, you didn't keep me waiting. "Razzak's voice startled them. "Why is she here? " They asked in unison immediately coming in front of Mira like a shield. Razzak laughed as she shoved them to the side and went ahead and hugged Mira, who reciprocated the action with a smile. " Thank you for giving my memories back. "Mira was looking extremely refreshed and strong. The fear and unease that was darkening her face was gone. " You don't need to thank me. I took my chance. I always wanted to know more about you. Stella made it possible. I went against my ancestors in stealing that stone for you. I but all my eggs in your basket Mira. And I am glad that I did. "She smiled. " I will leave the rest to you. I think you might need some privacy. "She hugged Mira once more and winked, before leaving. " Wha

" So you figured a way around, huh? Do you think the power of the Heartstaff can keep me away? It literally runs in my veins as well. "Mira was in the centre and the boys were around her. She clung to her father, scared, afraid, unable to understand why the universe turned so violent ? And it seemed like it all revolved around her. " Attack! " One blow after another sent tremors all around as the boys fought hard to maintain their defense. Even with their collective effort, it was difficult for them to counter so many successive attacks. " Mira, you can end this! " Kilian yelled from the other side. " All that I ask from you is to come back with me. Everything can be like it used to be. Just come back to me Mira. "Mira grabbed her father's shirt tighter as one blast sent Kian reeling behind. Calex kissed Mira on her forehead, " Always listen to your heart. " And without another word, he darted off towards the Kakarian formation. " You fool! " Kilian personally sent one blast af

Earth had become a ragging battle field. There was news about random blasts and terrorist attacks all over the news. There was a frenzy everywhere as people ran indoors to hide inside their homes and basements. The Watcher Headquarters was going crazy, trying to handle calls from all the Presidents and Prime Ministers. It was true that they were answerable but the situation had blown out of proportion. They had no other choice than to call back their very best. Rozelle, George and Robert, walked back in the building, matching their steps. "Never thought that I would be back in business! " George stretched as the humanoids greeted them with coffee mugs. " Who would have thought that Gala had developed such a wonderful anecdote. She is talented, isn't she? " Rozelle read Robert's expression closely as she asked the question. Robert knew that he was in a tricky situation. He had to praise Layla for her credibility but he had to do so without making his lover jealous. " Life, my d
