Chapter-2

Karen's POV:

It's done; I could not come to peace with the fact that I have broken up with Elio.

It still hurts to think that he cheated on me with my best friend. I ran to my house with the blurry vision I had all along. I lock myself in the room.

Elio and I were named the best couple on our whole campus. But all this time, he had other intentions. Today, our 5-year relationship came to an end.

Being raised as an orphan, all I ever imagined was a happy life with Elio and our kids. But he smashed my dreams. I feel hurt.

My head is filled with pain, and it feels heavy. I wept till I let out my sorrow and dodged off on my bed.

I woke up with a jolt when I heard the rumbling sound of thunder. I look around to find myself in the dark. I guess I slept after hours of crying. I rolled to my bedside and turned on the lamp.

I unlocked my phone, and there were 50 missed calls from Elio. Then a message popped up on my screen.

"Babe, please open the door. I am right outside your place," it said.

But it is raining heavily; is he really waiting outside?

"Please, Elio, leave me alone," I texted back.

"I need to talk to you, please," he said.

"What else is there to talk about? To discuss El, sorry, Elio? I texted him back.

"Open the damn door, Karen!" he yelled from the outside and started banging on my front door.

And that is the final straw. Who the hell does he think to yell at me after being caught with my best friend?

I got down to the front door and opened it.

"What?" I yelled at him.

"Baby, I am sorry. Trust me, Karen, it was Tasha who seduced me, and she initiated the kiss," he said.

"And? What else? So you expect me to forgive you and hate my best friend?" I ask him.

"Look, Elio, I do not care whose mistake it is, but it is both of you in it, and now I can not get back to you or her. It is done. Goodbye, I say, and I shut the door in his face without even listening to him.

The tears, which I tried so hard to hide, came out, flowing down my cheeks. I was afraid that if I stood there for one more second, I might break down in front of him, but I wanted to show that it would not affect me.

I heard the continuous banging, and I yelled "Get the fuck out of here and my life at once, Elio".

The door banging stopped, and I took a breath. I felt the silence and could hear my own breathing. I let out a sigh. Finally, I was able to do it.

It's better to come out of toxic relationships than stay there and regret it later.

I heard my doorbell ring this time. Elio, why the hell are you trying to test my patience? I thought to myself. It rang again. I let out a deep sigh and got up on my knees.

I open the door with force, and all my fury fades when I spot a small baby in a basket at my doorstep. She is looking at me with her big eyes.

Her face was so pleasant that it made me smile; she made me happy when I held her. I got worried and looked around to spot someone. Why would anyone leave an infant at someone else's doorstep?

I took the baby inside as it was raining cats and dogs. She started crying after hearing the sound of thunder. I cooed her.

I feel like protecting her with my every being. I finally succeeded in making her sleep after trying for hours. I put her on my bed and secured her sides with pillows. I went through her basket and found a note.

"Whenever you feel like something is wrong with the baby or if you think she is being different, please call the following number: Please take care of the baby. Her life is in danger," the note said.

I kept it aside and started to think about the series of events that happened today. Maybe it is God's sign of telling me to move on. I can move to the new city, start a job, and take this baby for adoption.

Maybe she came to bring change to me. I lived enough like an orphan, and I did not want this little baby to go through all that. I will be her mother. I decided.

But what is all about the 'danger' thing? Is her life really in danger? I should take her away from this place then.

I will protect her like my own.

Doctor's POV:

I did not think it would be safe to keep Selene with me, so I decided to give her up. I put her in front of someone's doorstep and hid behind bushes. To make sure that the human takes the baby, if not, I decided to take Selene back with me.

Luckily, this lady accepted Selene, and I watched her for 2 days. I found out that she adopted Selene. I felt happy.

I wanted to raise Selene on my own, but given the circumstances, I knew the Nightwalker pack would start searching for Selene and even me as well.

Alpha Xavier (NightWalker's Pack Alpha):

I do not want to listen to your lame excuses. Get me the baby. I want her. I will wait, but fill me with good news.

Take a few more people if needed, and search everywhere, in every corner of the earth.

Use witches and try to track her. Always keep a few soldiers around MoonStone pack borders.

"But Alpha, it is just barren land now," my Beta Henry said.

"Do what I say, I roared, which made him flinch.

"Okay, Alpha," he bowed.

"If in case the pack members or even the baby get to the pack lands I do not want to let go of any chances," I say.

"The MoonStone pack is ours now. If they want it, they have to fight and take it, I continued.

"Okay, Alpha," he said, leaving the place.

I will have the girl for myself and will grow more powerful. I let out an evil laugh.

(Time Skip to 8 years)

Karen's POV:

After that day, 8 years ago, my life changed for the best.

I moved out of that city and moved on with life as well. I met Jack, found true love, and built a very sweet family.

I have another daughter now, Olivia Stark. And I named my elder daughter Ava Stark.

When I met Jack and told him about my situation, he stood with me and gave his full support to me and this family. But unfortunately, four years ago, I had to lose him in an accident.

Over the years, I grew very protective of Ava. She is now nine years old. The incidents of last year made me more overprotective.

It was when I started to see changes in Ava. She became strong all of a sudden. I was shocked when she moved the bed on her own when her doll fell under the bed.

And the other day, she started howling like a wolf while watching some fantasy movies. She kept on saying how she feels powerful and all. It made me worried, and that is when I remembered the note Ava had with her when I found her that night.

I called on that number, and I heard a male voice from the other end.

I told him everything, and he asked me to visit him along with Ava.

"How can I trust you?" I ask him.

"You have no other choice. Please come to the address at which I will text you. I will be waiting," he said.

Being unsure about what to do, I still visited him, and he gave Ava some injections.

"What are you doing?" I asked him.

"Trust me, please," he said.

"Are you the one who left her on my doorstep? Why did you do that? Why did you ask me to protect her?" I attacked him with questions.

"Yes, it is me. I can not give you any details, but all you have to do is keep her safe. Does she know that you are not her mother?" he asked.

"I will never let her know. I am her mother, and she is my daughter; that is it, I say in fury.

I can not even imagine how Ava will react if she ever learns that she is an orphan.

"Why is her life in danger? Who is after her?" I ask.

"All I can say is that there are some supernatural beings around humans. Supernatural beings exist, and they are after her," he said, and it would be a lie if I said that I did not get scared.

"Will she feel the symptoms again?" I ask, not knowing how to describe it.

"Yes, maybe when she turns 16. Just remember that you have to bring her gain before she turns 16," he said.

"I will," I said, leaving the lab.

That man looks handsome, but he gave me creepy vibes.

After listening to him, I got more scared and decided to always keep Ava close to me.

Alpha Xavier:

"Sorry, Alpha, "Beta said.

It's been more than 8 years, and they could not find the girl.

"Are not you Ashamed? You can not even find a baby. How come you call yourself Beta of Night Walker's pack?

Use magic and find her," I ordered them.

Pack of useless wolves, I spoke under my breath.
