CHAPTER ONE - HEARTBREAK.
Amelia's POV “Congratulations, Mrs. Davidson. You are four months pregnant.” Doctor Lilian informed me with a bright smile on her face. “Pregnant? Doctor, are you sure? I can't have children. The fertility results said so.” I countered the Doctor's news. I didn't want to get too excited over nothing. Doctor Lilian flipped through the files on her desk and she glanced up at me. “I'm so sorry, Amelia. The results we gave you were meant for a different Amelia. Forgive the inefficiency of my staff.” Doctor Lilian gave me a tight smile, and she handed a white envelope to me. “So I'm pregnant, Doctor. I'm not infertile. I can have babies.” I babbled all at once. My expression was one of absolute joy and I was having a hard time keeping my excitement to myself. Doctor Lilian grinned, standing on her feet and opening her arms wide. I rushed to hug her while my heart thumped with adrenaline. I swatted my hair backwards and rubbed it on my flat abdomen. Picking up my bag, which I'd stowed on the table, I carefully tucked the letter inside it. “I have to get home right now. Jeremy will be so thrilled. He's been wanting to hear this news for ages. Thank you so much, Doctor.” I rushed out of the doors smiling like a lunatic. I got into my car and headed home. While I drove, I kept glancing at my bag like it would disappear. The letter, safely hidden in the confines of my bag, was the only proof to my husband. The gatekeeper swung the gates open when I arrived. On a normal day, I'd chat with him and offer him some spare cash but not today. I got out of the car, holding my bag tightly as I entered the mansion where I lived with my husband. I wasn't exaggerating. We lived in a freaking mansion. It was all part of Jeremy's inheritance since his family was wealthy. The ‘Calloways’ were considered one of the most powerful and high-ranking families in New York. They had a chain of businesses scattered across the globe. “Yes, Baby… Just like that.” I halted in my tracks at the sound of the familiar voice. I knew Jeremy stayed home to work today, but then who was the person with the voice? It sounded female. But no. Jeremy couldn't invite a female over while I was away. With the reassurance that my husband would never cheat on me, I pushed the door to the room open and the scene in front of me came into view. A red haired lay sprawled out on our matrimonial bed and Jeremy's was sucking her left nipple into his mouth. They were both naked. My bag fell to the ground landing with a soft thud. Uhm… What did I say about my husband not being able to cheat on me again? I take that back. “Baby, please. Amelia, it's not what it looks like. I… I can explain.” Jeremy climbed out of the bed, his dick dangling as he made to touch my arm. “It's not what it looks like? I just saw you sucking another woman's nipple, Jeremy. What's your explanation for that?” I asked with a broken voice. “Baby, you are infertile. Look around you, Amelia. Luxury, wealth. If you cannot give me an heir to inherit my wealth, what good are you?” Jeremy shrugged, bumping my shoulders and leaving the room. I couldn't believe my ears. He cheated on me because he thought I was infertile? Fuck Jeremy. I wiped the tears from my face and walked to my closet. Grabbing my suitcase, I shoved my clothes into the suitcase, panting heavily while u fought tears. “You know, he loves you. He just wants a child and he knows you can never give him one.” The red haired bitch on the bed spoke. “Shut up! Don't you dare interfere. Just get out.” I yelled, tears spilling out of my eyes at the impact of my yell. She flinched and hurriedly exited the room with her clothes in her hand. “Argh!” I let out an ear-splitting scream, pulling at my hair and ignoring the pain it caused my scalp. More tears left my eyes and I dropped to the floor, sobbing like a baby. I'd been married for two years. When the first year passed and no issue, Jeremy's family grew impatient. But he had stood up for me. Countless times when his mum had visited and called me names, Jeremy was my backbone. He had believed that one day we would have a child. But then the fertility results came and I was declared infertile. That night had been the worst night of my life. But Jeremy stuck with me. He had whispered words of comfort to me and made sure I didn't starve myself. “There's no use crying, Amelia. I had to do something. Believe me when I say this is the first time I've had sex with a woman that's not you since we got married.” Jeremy said from the doorway where he stood. I sniffed, building my courage and got back on my feet. Next thing I did was take my suitcase and I pushed past Jeremy. I needed to get out of this mansion. When I started my car, Jeremy didn't try to stop me. I took one last glance at the mansion before driving away. I'd crash at my friend's home until I could get back on my feet, and maybe I would finally get the courage to go back to my immediate family. The ones I had abandoned two years ago. What would my Nana say? Probably ‘I told you sorry’. Or she'd smack my head and ask me to make Japanese tea for her as a peace offering. A sad smile found its way to my lips. I was heartbroken, yeah, but I still had a family that loved me. “Don't worry, twinkle. Mummy's got this’ I glanced down at my belly.CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT - AROUSEDLucian's POV"Lucian, is Mommy okay?" I heard Camilla's damn voice from the door that I'd locked to make this call. No, I wanted to say. But I wasn't that cruel to kids. I tossed my phone to the side and stood.Camilla's persistent knocking annoyed me. I was at a crossroads, at a loss on what to do for the first time in my life. I was Lucian Moreno.I was the Don. My family had been in control of the clan for centuries going back. We were the force behind the powerful, the fuel of the fast and furious in the high-profile society, the name behind every business at the top. I knew of the killings and the sickening way my father ruled. And I was determined to make a difference when I came into power. And so far, I'd done little harm. I killed when necessary, when it was inevitable. But with everything I did, I had a reason.Amelia Kishi waltzed into my home and made me break that fucking rule.I wasn't supposed to lift a finger in help except... she sold
CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN - DO WHATEVER YOU DEEM FIT FOR HERAmelia's POVWith every ounce in my body, I pushed Drake off me and slapped him twice. Only the sounds of our heart beating erratically could be heard. Drake's eyes were wide and he still didn't believe I'd just slapped him. "Why? Why did you kiss me?" I asked him in a whisper. I didn't trust myself not to whisper. If I tried... I'd fail and I'd cry. "Amelia, he's your husband!" "I don't care. You promised to take this slow. You hurt me once and I'm not going to let you hurt me again. I... I mean..." I wiped my lips and spat on the floor.Drake's eyes went to the spittle and he frowned."Don't you dare... touch me again. Oh. My. God. This is crazy. I can't stay here with a psycho. A man who doesn't know the meaning of slow. If you're forcefully kissing me now then what about tomorrow? Will you force me to sleep with you?" "Amelia, stop.""What's next? If I don't you'll hurt me?" "You know... I can see through this facade of
CHAPTER TWENTY SIX - WILL YOU GET PREGNANT AGAIN, AMELIA?Amelia's POV"Why would you want us to get married? I... I mean this is okay, Drake. Baby steps. We are still learning to trust each other." I said to Drake, all my tiredness momentarily forgotten.Drake nodded and walked two steps from the dining table. "Amelia, I know. I know that it will take a lot of time before you can trust me again, like before.""No, you don't know. If you know then you won't ask me to marry you again. What's the essence?" "A public wedding. To show the world and the whole city that you belong to me. That I have the prettiest bride around me..."Bastard! You don't and will never own me. Fuck this man. "There's no need for...""Amelia, please. I have arranged everything." That statement made my ears perk up. I frowned, this time not masking how I really felt. What did he mean by he made arrangements?"Drake... We are still married. If I can remember, we didn't have an annulment. I... I can't do this w
CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE - WILL YOU MARRY ME AGAIN?Amelia's POV"Lucian," I whispered, "Are you saying... are you saying that Drake... that he's killed them?"Lucian's silence was more damning than any words could have been. I felt a cold sweat break out on my skin. To be honest, I knew of Drake's dubious ways in business but... This? To think that he.."Wait, how long has this been going on? We've been married since five years. I... I never noticed.""Amelia, according to the dirt we have on him, it's been six years. Which means that he's been doing this even when married to you. He not just killed. He tortured them, as it seems."I swallowed hard. "Why... why would he do that? What purpose could that possibly serve?""You should know that. When you met him, he was so bent on destroying Jeremy right? He'd do anything for power. And control.""But... Lena. The maid. You think he's abusing her too?"Lucian nodded. "It's likely. Drake has a pattern. I think he preys on those who can't fight
CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR - THEY WERE SEXUALLY ABUSEDAmelia's POVLucian paused, his dark eyes darting between me and Seraphina, who was smirking. I sighed and reached for the first button of his shirt. My fingers shook as I undid it, and he watched me closely, breathing steadily despite the blood that was soaking his sleeve. Moving closer, my hands brushed against his chest as I worked my way down the buttons. When I finally pulled the shirt off, I tossed it onto the desk and turned toward the door. "Where are you going?" Seraphina asked.“Getting the first aid kit,” I didn't bother to glance back at her. “I need to tend to his wound.”“Forget about Lucian. It’s just a scratch.”I halted, turning back to her. “Just a scratch? You threw a knife at him! It hurt him.”With a dramatic sigh, she said, “Amelia, have you learned nothing? If you want to be part of this world, you need to think and act like us.”She walked over to the desk, picked up the knife, and my stomach churned as I watched
CHAPTER TWENTY THREE - TAKE YOUR SHIRT OFF, LUCIANAmelia's POVI was pacing around the room like a caged animal would, as my mind raced a million miles a minute. My hands trembled even as I couldn't stop fidgeting.Okay... I took a deep breath. Jeremy knows about one kid. Just one. He has no clue I had twins for him. That's a start, right? It'll make things easier. Maybe.I grabbed my head, trying to calm the storm inside me, when my phone buzzed on the desk. I moved to pick it up, but then I heard murmurs from the office opposite mine. Some staff were whispering. "Did you see her? Kissing the boss on her first day." One of them said. Another chimed in, "No shame at all. Who does that? Probably slept her way up to this position."I winced. Why? Why did people who knew nothing about me feel the need to assume? I turned to Isadora, who was sitting at her desk and ignoring my existence. She hadn't even glanced at me once. Sharing an office with her was nauseating. I'd have to talk to L
