Elvira’s POV

The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was a bright white light above me. I blinked several times but everything was still blurry.

I could hear the sound of a machine beeping near me and multiple other noises. I tried to move but my body was heavy.

Where was I? The last thing I remembered was lying by the riverside.

I slowly turned my head and through my blurred vision, I could see a woman sitting on the chair next to the bed and resting her head on the bed.

Elvira’s POV Darkness suddenly filled the room and all I could hear was Leah's sobbing voice. My chest tightened so much that I could barely breathe. What…. What have I done?I wanted to speak to Leah but I found it difficult to open my mouth. “She…. She was transported to the cell….. she…. She hanged herself in the bathroom,” Leah's tears destroyed something inside me, “They found her on time but I don’t understand what they are saying.” “Leah…. I…. Leah I….” My throat choked when I didn’t have anything to say. “I’m sorry, I tried to call Calix but his line wasn’t going, I called Karisa but she declined the call and I really wanted someone to be here by my side,” Leah sobbed louder, “I’m sorry if I shouldn’t have called you.” Before I could find my voice, the call ended. With blurry eyes, I dialed Leah’s number, “Which…. Which hospital?” “City….. city hospital,” Leah cried but there was relief in her voice. “I will be there,” I said and ended the call. I locked all the file

Elvira’s POV Why would Grandma ask Calix to remarry me when she knows I don’t want to see him? “She was scared, she hasn’t involved herself with people for a long time so she couldn’t protect you and she thought the only way you could be protected was if you had the Kyrell name added to your name,” Calix explained, “Please don’t be angry with her.” Grandma shouldn’t have done this, “Don’t tell me what to do.”“Elvira…..” I stood up from the chair, “I appreciate you speaking to me today; it made me feel lighter about our situation but that doesn’t mean everything can go back to being the way it was and please don’t interfere in my life again. Calix stood to his feet, “Elvira….”I raised my hand stopping him from going further, “The reason why you approached me has been fulfilled so I believe we don’t have anything to do with each other,” I picked up my bag, “I hope we never cross paths again,” I said, and walked away. I arrived home furiously. The first person I met was Anthony,

Elvira’s POV The last few weeks have been nothing but peaceful for me. I didn’t care what the others were doing but I was patiently waiting for today. Ace and Father haven’t spoken to me. I haven’t seen Akira, I purposely didn’t want her to see her mother like that and Calix, I have been seeing him in court but we never said anything to each other. Today was the final court hearing of Mrs Chloe Jordan’s case. She sat in the accused seat with a lawyer by her side. Leah and Karisa were behind her, perhaps giving her hope. Calix was seated in front with Ciera and his grandparents while I was seated behind him with Grandma. Chloe locked eyes with me as her sentence was being given, “Mrs Chloe Jordan, having been found guilty of the murder of Mrs Elenor Kyrell, embezzlement, fraud, bribery, and other serious crimes, this court finds that your actions warrant the severest punishment permitted by law.” Our breaths were held waiting for the judge to make the final statement while Mrs Ky

Elvira’s POV I knew if I let Karisa go today then there was no way I would get her DNA to clear my suspicions. I dragged her by the hair until I was able to pull hair from her head. “What is your problem ?” Ace yelled as he managed to separate us from each other, “Why are two adults fighting?” “This mad woman attacked me for no reason,” Karisa yelled. “Why are you screaming?” I questioned, “That pain is nothing compared to what you made me feel over the years.” “I will definitely kill you today!” Karisa was about to attack me but Ace stepped in, “Elvira go to your room and Karisa please go to your car.” “Why should…..”“Enough!!” Ace yelled, “That’s enough!” He sounded like he had reached his breaking point. “I have had enough of this madness; I’m tired,” Ace exploded, “Karisa don’t you know when to stop? Can’t you see the harm you have caused?” “What harm have I caused?” Karisa questioned. “Don’t ask me questions you have the answer to,” Ace said, “You both are sisters so p

Elvira’s POV My eyes fell on Ace waiting for him to say he was joking but he repeated the same thing. Why? Just why did Calix send a lawyer to me?“Do you want to go down to meet him or should I send him away?” Ace asked, his eyes filled with concern for me. I shook my head, I gripped the edge of the bed and managed to stand up, “I will go see what he wants.” Ace stood up from the bed, “If you need anything I am here,” Ace stared at me for a few seconds before asking, “Are you sure you are good?” “Yeah,” I said and walked out of the room. Calix’s lawyer was sitting on the couch in the living room, his eyes glued to the television and he tapped his feet on the floor. “Why did he send you here?” I said as I took my seat. The lawyer’s eyes focused on me, “He wanted me to deal with important paperwork.” Calix and my marriage was invalid so what was he talking about? “Important paperwork?” “Yes,” The lawyer said as he opened his bag and brought out some documents, “Marriage docum

Elvira’s POV The look on their faces told me everything I needed to know but what could I do? Nothing! Fucking nothing!! “Why are you trying to drag my daughter into this mess?” Father questioned. I stared at the plate on the floor, “Your wife spilled the breakfast I made with so much love,” I stared at the blood in my hands then looked up at my father, “Do I need to explain that?” “I told you she can’t stay in this house!!” Lesley yelled, “She wants to ruin my daughter after ruining my daughter’s in-laws.” “I don’t care what it is you both have going on but any evidence you have, you'd better burn it to ashes,” Father warned. I saw love earlier in his eyes, but now it was anger. “Why?” I questioned, “Why can’t you support me for once? Why?!!” I yelled as I picked up the flower vase from the table and threw it against the wall. I don’t know why I did that; maybe it helped release some anger in my heart. “Your Karisa has always harmed me; she has always done worse than this but

Elvira’s POV The cab driver stopped in front of the place Karisa drove into and it was my Father-in-law’s hotel. That was weird.
