Evelyn

“I want a divorce.”

The words sat on my tongue like something bitter I couldn’t swallow, even though I had already said them out loud.

“Are you sure you want me to start drafting your divorce?” Tessa’s voice came through again, tight with disbelief, like she was trying to hold me together through the phone.

I didn’t answer immediately.

My fingers tightened around the glass in my hand, the cold surface biting into my skin as the alcohol burned down my throat, but it didn’t help. It didn’t dull anything. If anything, it made everything clearer.

Three hours ago, I still thought I had a husband.

Now?

I let out a quiet, hollow breath, my grip tightening.

“Do it, Tessa,” I said finally, my voice lowered. “Start drafting it.”

There was a pause on the other end.

“That man is a good man,” she said, softer now, almost pleading. “You even gave up your modeling career for him. He loves you, Evelyn. He’s perfect for you.”

A dry laugh slipped past my lips before I could stop it.

Perfect.

Yes. Sebastian had always played that role flawlessly, the loving husband, the man everyone admired, the man I had believed in so completely it now felt humiliating.

Because three hours ago—My fingers tightened around the glass.

I had stood in front of the mirror, smoothing down my dress for what felt like the hundredth time. The black sequined gown hugged my body perfectly, the slit revealing just enough.

I remember smiling, my mind filled with nothing but anticipation as I waited for him to come home and celebrate my birthday with me.

Then my phone beeped. That same number again, the one that had been sending me strange messages for days, messages I had dismissed without a second thought. I was about to block it when another message came in.

[ You’re waiting for your man, while he’s in another woman’s hands.”]

My smile faded instantly, confusion tightening into something colder, sharper. How did they know I was waiting? How did they know he wasn’t home?

Before I could think it through, another message appeared, this time with pictures. My breath caught as I stared at the screen, my heart beginning to pound in a way that felt wrong.

Sebastian. Naked. In bed. With another woman.

“No…” I whispered under my breath, shaking my head even as my grip on the phone tightened.

This had to be fake. AI, editing, anything but real. It had to be.

[“I can send you the address to confirm it yourself.”]

My hands trembled as I typed back, my thoughts no longer steady enough to protect me. “Send the address.”

[ “They’re in your basement."]

My eyes widened, my heartbeat stuttering painfully. That couldn’t be right. Our basement was never used. No one went there. And yet, something pulled me forward. Before I realized it, I was walking toward it, each step heavier than the last, the air growing colder as I descended.

Then I saw it. A tie…His tie.

The same one I had adjusted for him that morning, my fingers smoothing it against his chest while he smiled down at me.

It lay on the floor, beside it was a red bra, identical to the one he had given me on my last birthday.

My chest tightened so hard it hurt to breathe.

And then I saw them.

Sebastian stood there, completely exposed, his hand gripping a woman’s hair as she knelt before him, her mouth in his dick.

My body went still, my mind struggling to catch up with what my eyes were already seeing.

He pulled back slightly, tightening his grip on her hair as she looked up at him, her lips curling into a confident smile. “Who’s better,” she asked softly, her voice filled with amusement, “me or your wife?”

There was a pause, and in that brief silence, my heart shattered completely.

“You can’t compare,” he said, his tone casual, almost dismissive. “In bed, you’re number one.”

The words hit harder than anything else.

A sharp wave of nausea rushed through me, overwhelming and sudden. My stomach twisted violently as I stumbled back, my hand flying to my mouth. I couldn’t stay there. So I turned and ran, my vision blurring with tears as everything I thought I had crumbled behind me.

That’s how I ended up here.

In a bar I didn’t recognize, holding onto a drink like it was the only thing keeping me upright.

“Evelyn? Are you there?” Tessa’s voice snapped me back.

I lifted the glass to my lips and took a long swallow, the burn doing nothing to quiet the chaos inside me. “Sebastian is a cheat…” My voice came out uneven, heavy with everything I couldn’t say. “I can’t…”

“You don’t sound okay,” she said immediately. “Where are you? I’m coming to you. This isn’t something we handle over the phone. Evelyn, tell me where you are.”

I turned my head, trying to get the address, but the room tilted slightly, I pushed the chair back, meaning to stand, but the movement came too fast.

My balance slipped, my body tilting forward before I could catch myself.

A hand caught me. My palms pressed against a solid chest as I froze, my breath catching midair. I looked up slowly, my gaze tracing sharp features—a defined jawline, high cheekbones, a straight nose, and then his piercing blue eyes.

For a moment, I forgot everything else.

Then recognition hit, sharp and immediate.

Damon.

Sebastian’s stepbrother.

The man Sebastian had warned me about more times than I could count. Dangerous, unpredictable, someone I was supposed to stay far away from.

And yet, there I was, held firmly against him.

I pulled back quickly, panic flickering through me, but the movement only made the world spin harder. My head tilted, my body swaying as I lost balance again.

His hand moved to my waist instantly, gripping me with quiet authority, steadying me before I could fall. “Careful,” he said, his voice low, controlled, carrying a hint of something unreadable.

A shiver ran through me before I could stop it.

I should have stepped away. I should have said something.

But my body refused to cooperate, my senses dulling as the weight of everything finally caught up with me.

The last thing I felt was his grip tightening slightly at my waist—And then everything went black.

Evelyn Sebastian’s hand flew straight to his mouth, his breath hitching as blood smeared across his fingers. “How can you come into my place and harass me like this?!” he snapped, voice loud, shaky, reaching for his phone like it was the only thing holding his pride together. “You’ll pay for this—I’m calling the cops!” The sound of his voice grated against my nerves. I lunged forward, snatching the phone right out of his hand and throwing it across the floor. It hit hard, the crack echoing in the tense silence. His eyes widened, disbelief flashing across his face as he stared at me like I had just betrayed him in the worst way possible. “What are you doing, Evelyn…?” His voice dropped, confused, almost offended. “Are you taking his side? Look at what he did—your husband—” I laughed. It wasn’t funny, not even close, but the sound came out anyway, dry and sharp, like something inside me had snapped beyond repair. “My husband?” I repeated, my lips curling as disgust filled every

Evelyn I didn’t sleep much that night. Even when I closed my eyes, that message kept replaying in my head. [Stop crying. It doesn’t suit you.] The water ran down my skin, warm, steady. My fingers slid through my hair slowly, my eyes closing for a brief second as I tilted my head back, letting the water hit my face, and for the first time in what felt like forever, I felt at peace. Finally… I was going back to modeling. Finally… I could leave. The thought alone was enough to steady me. I had already messaged Tessa, and her reply was still fresh in my mind, the divorce papers would be here today. Today. That word echoed quietly, heavy with meaning, with finality, with something that felt like the beginning of the end. “Babes…” My eyes snapped open. “You look so sexy…” I turned sharply, and there he was. Sebastian. Standing there like nothing had changed, like nothing had happened, completely naked, completely comfortable, like this was normal, like I was supposed to reac

Evelyn “Where is this?” I asked, my voice low but strained, my eyes widening as I stared at the massive mansion in front of me. “My house,” Damon said, completely unbothered, like this wasn’t strange at all, like bringing his brother’s wife here in the middle of the night was normal. I turned to him, my brows tightening. “Why am I here?” His gaze dropped slowly, deliberately, and I felt it, the way his eyes moved over me, taking in the soaked dress clinging to my body, the fabric now almost transparent, water dripping from my hair down my neck and further, and for a second I hated the way my body reacted, stiffening under that attention. “Do you want to go home looking like this?” he asked. I opened my mouth but nothing came out because the truth was obvious and that annoyed me more than anything. He stepped out of the car and walked around, and I already knew what he was thinking, what he was about to do. “Do you need my help getting out?” he called, a hint of teasing

Evelyn My brows pulled together slightly as I stared at him. “What problem?” I asked. Damon didn’t answer. He just held my gaze, his lips curving faintly, his eyes dragging over my face, lingering like he knew something I didn’t. And somehow… that only made it worse. “Are you serious right now? Do you think you can control my life?!” My voice came out louder than I expected, sharp enough that a few heads turned, but I didn’t care. Everything was crashing at once, too loud inside me to keep contained. I blinked hard, trying to keep the tears from falling. Even after all that alcohol, I wasn’t drunk. Not even close. Every single thing still sat in my chest, clear, heavy, refusing to blur. I turned back to the waiter, gripping the edge of the counter like it was the only thing keeping me steady. “Please, just pour the drink,” I said, my voice tighter now. “I just want to forget it all…” But he didn’t move. He wasn’t even looking at me. His eyes flicked toward Damon, like h

Evelyn Come into my arms?? What does that even mean?? Who the heck is this sender?? My fingers tightened slightly around my phone, my heartbeat uneven, my thoughts running in circles that made no sense. “It's a yes, right!” Sebastian’s voice cut through everything. I looked up slowly. He was smiling. Not just smiling—grinning like a man who had already decided the outcome, like my answer was just a formality. His eyes were bright, expectant, and for a second, I wondered if he could even see me at all. What could I possibly say at this point? When he was standing there, lying without hesitation, calling her his cousin like I was supposed to nod and accept it. “Is she really your cousin?” I asked, my voice calm, but it didn’t feel calm inside. His face shifted, just slightly. But I caught it. “What do you mean?” he replied quickly, his tone rising a notch as he straightened. “I said she’s my cousin. Don’t you believe me?” I held his gaze, my lips pressing together befor

Evelyn“Sebastian—” My voice came out sharp as I hurried after him, my heels striking fast against the hospital floor. I barely got close before two nurses stepped in front of me, cutting me off.“You can’t go in there,” one of them said, calm but firm as she held me back. “Only the partner is allowed.”I went still, my eyes fixed on the closed doors, my mind catching up all at once. Not only was he cheating… he got her pregnant. And he left me on the road like I meant nothing, just to run to her.“The nerve…” I muttered, already pulling out my phone, my fingers slightly unsteady.I dialed his number, my brows pulling together as I looked at the screen like I didn’t even recognise it anymore. He picked up immediately. “Hey babes,” he said, easy, careless. “I’m busy right now, I’ll call you later.”The line went dead. I pulled the phone away slowly, staring at it like it had just confirmed everything I didn’t want to believe. I called again. This time, it didn’t ring. Switched off.A
