Olivia

I chuckled, scratching the back of my neck.

“Oh! This? God, it’s actually kind of insane. I went to this exclusive chromatherapy spa in the Upper East Side—you know, one of those weird holistic places that charge a fortune to dip you in flower water and call it healing—and they convinced me to try this experimental gemstone-infused hair mist. Supposedly enhances aura flow or whatever.”

I rolled my eyes and let out a nervous laugh.

“I thought it was just a light gloss treatment, but apparently the rubies were not color-safe. I didn’t even notice until I got into the car and saw my reflection in the windshield. Like—surprise! So…yeah…”

That should be believing enough right? Who was I kidding? Even a seven-year-old wouldn’t fall for this bullshit.

He raised a brow, skeptical. His sharp gaze narrowed slightly, silently calling me out. “Really?”

There it was. That calm-before-the-storm voice. He was onto me.

“Something weird happened today,” he said slowly, eyeing me the way a hunte

Kaylee“Philip… what the actual hell is this?” My voice cracked as I froze in the doorway. The smell hit me first—coppery blood and damp concrete, thick enough to make my stomach churn. My gaze landed on the man slumped against the wall. His head lolled forward, hair matted with dried blood, his shirt ripped and soaked through. He looked like he’d been chewed up and spit out by a truck.“Oh my God,” I whispered, my hand flying to my mouth. “Is he… Philip, is he dead? Tell me he’s not dead!”Philip stopped pacing long enough to glance at me. His jaw flexed like he was grinding his teeth to keep himself calm.“That,” he said coldly, pointing at the heap of a man, “is Nathan. And he’s been on my tail for a while now.”I blinked, my brain scrambling to connect dots that weren’t lining up. “Okay… and your brilliant solution was to… kill him?”“Kaylee, shut up for one damn second and just listen,” he snapped, and that got my attention—not just the words, but the crack in his voice.Philip r

Olivia “Olivia, you nearly collapsed out there.” Sebastian’s voice was low but tight with worry as he guided me off the runway and into the car. “I told you to sit this event out. You’re pregnant, for God’s sake.” He didn’t sound angry—he never really did with me. It was that heavy, protective tone he had when fear outweighed everything else. I let my head fall back against the cool leather seat, my chest still rising and falling too fast. “I’m sorry,” I whispered, guilt nibbling at the edges of my voice. “I should’ve listened to you.” “Come here.” He didn’t hesitate, pulling me into his arms like I was made of porcelain. His scent—warm cedar, faint cologne, and something uniquely him—wrapped around me. His arms were firm, grounding me, and for a moment, I let myself melt into him. I wasn’t sure why he was suddenly this overprotective. He’d always watched out for me, but this… this was different. He hovered now like the air I breathed. Maybe it was the baby, but deep down, I fel

Philip “Even the strongest men break eventually, Nathan,” I murmured, my voice low and cold as I crouched in front of him. “And you, my friend… you’re no exception. I will watch you shatter.” He didn’t flinch. Not a single twitch, no spark of fear. I straightened, the stale stench of blood and rust clinging to the damp air around us. My boots scraped against the concrete floor as I paced a slow circle, studying him. He was slumped against the stained wall, hands chained above his head, his shirt ripped and soaked through with blood. My men had beaten him for days, and still… he wouldn’t talk. “Just give me the name of your employer,” I said, letting my voice drop to a near whisper, almost gentle. “One name, and this all ends. You walk out of here alive.” He lifted his head slowly, a strand of blood-matted hair falling across his swollen eye. Then, he laughed—low and humorless. “Go to hell,” he rasped. I froze for a second. How the hell was he still defiant? A week of pain, of

Sebastian“Mr. Lancaster… Mr. Lancaster.”The voice pulled me from a hazy doze, and I blinked against the sterile white of the hospital room. My neck ached from the awkward angle I’d been sleeping in, Olivia’s weight warm against my shoulder. I wasn’t the only one who had drifted off, she stirred faintly, lashes fluttering as if surfacing from a dream.“Yes?” My voice was rough. “Yes, Doctor?”“The test results are out.”Olivia lifted her head, still sleepy-eyed, a soft hum escaping her throat. The doctor’s smile was calm but bright.“Your wife is pregnant. Congratulations,” she said warmly. “She’s seven weeks along. Both mother and child are healthy. All she needs now is plenty of rest, good meals, and sleep.”Relief and awe crashed through me at once, and I tightened my hold on Olivia’s hand as if anchoring myself.“Thank you, Doctor,” I said.“Thank you so much,” Olivia added softly, a tiny smile curving her lips as we left the office. I led her through the echoing halls of the hos

SebastianHer face was soft beneath my palm, warm and delicate as I traced the curve of her cheek. Olivia slept like the world outside didn’t exist, her lips parted ever so slightly, her dark lashes fanning against her skin. God, she was beautiful. Mine. And now… she carried my child.Even thinking the words sent a shiver through me. I was going to be a father. A real, living piece of me and her—our love—would exist in the world. I’d never wanted anything more than this moment. For a second, the world felt… perfect. And then reality slithered in like poison. The Echelon Society. My chest tightened, the warmth of my joy cracking under the cold reminder. I hadn’t even processed it fully yesterday, hadn’t let it sink in because if I did… I might crumble. Why now? Why did the weight of that secret have to collide with this happiness?I glanced down at her peaceful face and felt my gut twist. Should I tell her? No. Not now. She was already carrying enough on her shoulders—on her body. Tell

OLIVIAThe ride to the drugstore should’ve flown by, it was barely ten minutes. But sitting there beside Lucas, my stomach coiled tighter with every second. It felt like the longest drive of my life. When he parked and cut the engine, I felt my breath hitch. My fingers clenched in my lap, cold and damp."You good?" Lucas asked, turning to look at me, his brows pinched together with concern.I nodded too quickly. "Yeah. I’m fine. Let’s just… get this over with."We climbed out of the car and walked inside, the doors whooshing open to let in the scent of antiseptic and floor polish. The blinding fluorescent lights overhead buzzed softly, casting everything in a sterile glow that made my skin crawl. I felt like everyone could see right through me.We made our way down the aisle with the pregnancy tests. My heart was pounding like a drumbeat in my ears. Lucas scanned the shelves like he was picking out cereal, then casually plucked a box off the rack and dropped it into the little plastic
