MasukI look from corner to corner given that I'm in a strange place but I don't see anyone. It's a penthouse, and that's all I can gather. Dimitri shoots me a warning stare to keep walking and I do nothing but follow his instruction. Although I'm worried that there's nothing I can do, I hate feeling extremely helpless.
When we are in the living room, I see my boss emerging from the stairway like royalty. His brown eyes glistened with slight hints of yellowish streaks. I stare into his cold eyes while he stares into mine, I'm not sure what to feel. I feel a certain level of calm, yet conflicting thoughts arise at once. “Ms. May?” his baritone resounded almost startling me I smiled a little. “How do you do?” Now he's standing in front with his strong but compelling cologne hitting my nostrils from end to end. I fiddle with my fingers nervously, I feel his warmth and tenderness surrounding me, and my mind is unsettled—chills are sent down my spine at this point. “Ms… May?” He calls out again and I'm brought back from my oblivion. “My apologies, sir!” I quickly tell him as he ushers me into the luxury divan. We sit directly with each other, I'm crossing my legs swiftly adjusting my pencil skirt. He gawks at me carefully like he's studying my entirety, his plunging gaze seeps into my mind, and I watch his thin red lips move as he explains to me the feedback about our franchise. “May, listen and not fantasize!” I remind myself. “What did you think of the investors?” “Perfect to begin with, they have a purpose—we can work with them! We both have something to gain…” I'm not sure if my words are good enough. He shoots me a half smile. “Well, I'm impressed. You bagged us a deal—of course, Dimitri debriefed me.” “I'm glad!” “He also narrated the little misunderstanding between you two.” he smiles smugly, “That's the problem with my men, once I pass an instruction, they don't let anything interfere!” he proudly tells me and I flush in anger. “Noted!” “I'll have Dimitri act nicer towards you! You see…” he rises and pockets his hands slowly walking over to where I'm seated—like a mannequin. “He's very protective of me and I can't blame him. He's a good guy!” he stops in front of him. My face was directly gawking at his thighs, it's no secret that I can peek at the dent of his length. I feel an instant chill. Fuck! “Dimitri will arrange for you to connect with your mother, don't fret, my men over there and keeping an eye on her.” he smiles egoistically. I nod swallowing the lump in my throat. I have noticed that he smiles a lot when I'm around him, I can't trust this man’s sudden niceness. No. He takes a step back as I attempt to rise but I misstep and almost fall over and then I feel his strong arms barricading me. “Easy, Raven!” his husky baritone gushes in the atmosphere as he calls my name, and I'm lost again. He looks at me with nothing but dominance and what I can't place my hands on. “Th-thank you, sir!” I tell him in almost a whisper. “Ahem!” Someone interjects, it's Dimitri. I really don't know how to like this man. I quickly detach myself from my boss’s arms. It's just unusual. “Dimitri?” Mr. Clyde turns to Dimitri who's briskly walking over to him. I stand aside rubbing my arms against the velvety sleeves. “I have made arrangements now, boss,” Dimitri says to him slightly narrowing his gaze at me, is he thinking that I seduced the boss? Oh gosh! “And Francesco?” Mr. Clyde asks sternly, It's interesting how he switches within a second. “Do you… mind?” Dimitri asks cautiously staring in my direction. It's a sign for me to leave. “Who's Francesco and why is his matter confidential?!” I ask myself. It's the least of my problems and I think no further. “Ms. May?” he calls with a tinge of carelessness and I scamper over to him. “Dimitri will contact your mother, you have 15 minutes and I hope you understand why.” he sternly adds, he's frowning and I don't know the cause. “Yes, sir. Thanks a lot, sir!” I tell him, Dimitri motions with his head for me to follow him. I follow the big guy ascending the stairs, and we enter a room on the left. It's nicely stuffed, it smells new and lonely, plus, lavender. “Did you attempt to paint me black in front of the boss? You sly fox!” he starts, “And then you seduce him by feigning to misstep?” Now he sounds angry. I'm muddled. “I don't understand, I did nothing,” I tell him defiantly. “Don't you try to pretend, girl! Lately, species of your type have come and gone, I don't think that you'd be different. Don't.” he warns me handing a new cell phone to me. How could I forget, my boss can have whoever he wants. I swallow my words and receive the phone, it's more important. “Thank—” “Thank the boss more appropriately and decently and not using some… fucking body language—” “Can I speak with my mother, now? Mr. Clyde says I have 15 minutes. Please!” I calmly tell him and he groans in defeat walking off. He slams the door like he's mad at not just me but the world. I won't give so much meaning to what he has said, yes, I know the boss has had and has so many women in his life. Dimitri is right, I'm not different. I feel a pang in my heart as if I'm about to crash but I gather my thoughts instead. I insert the numbers and dial Mom. It connects after two tries. “Hello?” I hear a distant and shallow response from her and my heart leaps. “Mom? It's me, May!” I start smiling as I hear her chuckle in the background. “What happened to you, I've been trying to reach you severally times—” “Mom calm down, I'm fine. The reception here is kinda… bad?!” “Huh? That's Rome for crying out loud!” she points out and I rub my temples shyly. “Yes but yeah, it's… never mind. How are you? How's Ms. Saunders? Are you back yet?” “Oh no, we've got a few more days. She's been treating me with delicate hands.” she chuckles and I giggle too. Q Her voice calms my racing mind. “I can't talk to you often but I'll connect with you as often as I can…” “I understand! How's your job? Your boss?” she asks. Do I tell her that he's just the opposite of what a gentleman is or do I tell her that I kissed him or even like him? What do I say to my mother? **** When we finish talking, I head out hoping that I haven't crossed the line. When I reach the end of the stairs, I see my boss hurling the expensive paintings to the ground, he's yelling while Dimitri is trying to calm him down. “Boss, you have to calm—” “Fucking find Francesco!” The boss yells at Dimitri, then Dimitri scampers off and my boss’s eyes lock with mine. The hair on my skin stands erect as I watch him breathe heavily. His shirt is ruffled—he’s restless. “Raven!” He calls out almost whispering, in an apologetic way. I'm totally confused. A/N: Hey sweeties! I hope you love this book so far! Please leave me a comment/review, a like, follow and add to libraries. It's the only way you can support me!! *Clyde’s POV*I hope she can brace herself, because this set of faces could be intimidating, and having that she's a female, who would not want to keep her to himself? I know that she has no boyfriend because I had that settled. That Austin is nothing but a jerk. The first time I saw her wasn't at the company, I had seen her once in a restaurant that she and her boyfriend visited, from that moment on; I wanted her and nothing was going to change it. And so, before I returned to the firm, I had ordered Dimitri and Tommy to put an end to everything. I guess he must have done it as told as soon as my boys arrived. I'm not being selfish, I'm only getting what I want at any cost and besides on that same day I saw them, he was yelling at her. That should not be acceptable from a boy like him. Or any man. I couldn't let that happen any longer, something about May Myers makes me feel like I've known her before, she's exceptional.“Boss, Daphne is on the phone!” says Tommy as he approaches
*May’s POV*I'm unable to sleep, my mind keeps flooding with these crazy thoughts and ideas about my boss. Did we just kiss? The thought of it numbs my knees to the ground, I can't believe it. But why should I bother so much, when we both know that he uses and dumps women, still, I'm not so sure because I've only seen him treat Nina unruly; it's partly her fault. She was stealing from him and Lisa thinks that there is a conspiracy between Madam C and her. I am not certain but I kinda buy the conclusion. The more I try to decipher, the more I get stuck in my emotions, despite the things that he's done to me, I find myself running back to him like I've never fallen in love before. I'm not taking what happened to heart, I believe that that was his way of unwinding and calming down since women are always a part of his fancy. God!!! Help me not to judge him by what others tell me—what Lisa tells me, I want to know him naturally. ~I get dressed for the start of a new day, I just want t
*Clyde's POV*Watching her leave is like torture, she is very innocent and fragile and that is the kind of woman I need, someone who is neutral and calm. I didn't intend to kiss her nor did I wish for her to come with me to the pool, it all occurred with an impartial feeling. Something about her feels invincible, and I don't know where to place it. I grab the towel and wrap it around my waist, making my way into the building. Tommy hands me a white robe as I put it on, and then he hands me the cellphone that Francisco has been put on hold for. “Francisco,” I call out coldly as I sit on the chair abreast. I hear him chuckle, it's annoying and my blood is boiling. If I land my hands on him, I'm most likely to strangle him without a second thought. “Fucking start talking!” I tell him furiously, my patience running out.“Easy Clyde, I'm hurt and you're hurt but guess who is very hurt? I am. You killed my brother, how dare you—”“Don’t be an asshole, show yourself, and stop seeking sy
The men slowly exit the living room while Dimitri remains put, but Tommy walks out with the others, with the look on their faces, the boss had instructed them to carry out a task. Once the living room is empty, the boss walks up to me slowly and stops with the same firm look. “Let's just discuss the next step, Ms. May.”Now he sounds very professional pissed off too. I nod as we take a seat, respectively. He pours himself some alcohol and turns to me, and motions with his head that I do the same and I tell him that I'm perfectly okay. “Welcome to my family, THIS is where I call home, except that Daph isn't here. She is stuck up with her Mom, whatever anyway. This is a business trip, yes, but it's not just a business trip. We are associated with some critically dangerous community, and so, you are brought here to handle the franchises and I would handle MY business as well. Dimitri or Tommy would drive you to wherever the meetings need to take place and you'd summarize the who
I step out to meet Dimitri, he's seated in the same position and now sipping from a bottle of water. The woman beside me is smiling sexily at him, does she have a tinge of shame at all?! “Nice job!” he tells her. “The boss likes his girls pretty at all times! I'll settle you once I land, we are in a haste!” he tells her again and they smile at each other. He is like a man prostitute too, no doubt. In less than fifteen minutes, we are pulling over at a story building. He takes my wrist as we pretend to act normal stepping in and pretending to be a normal couple. There are a couple of policemen; I stare at them with double thoughts on what to do and Dimitri leans in like he wants to kiss me, and then whispers. He's listening to the thoughts in my head, isn't he? “You won't report, will you? Like I said the boss would explain everything in less than an hour!” he moves away as we step into the elevator with a group of people in it. We stop at the top floor and he takes my wrist a
