☆☆SUMMER'S POV☆☆

I heard the sound of fabric shifting. A soft whisper, like silk sliding through fingers. Then his footsteps—quiet, steady—circling me like a decision not yet made.

The air felt thicker with my eyes closed. Like everything was touching me without permission. Then something slid against my skin. Cool. Smooth. A blindfold.

“This is just cloth,” Hayden murmured near my ear, his breath warm enough to make me flinch. “But when I put it on you, it becomes a choice.”

His fingers tied it slow, dragging the knot tight at the back of my head. His knuckles skimmed the side of my neck and I shivered. Not from fear. But from want. From the sick thrill of not knowing what I’d agreed to.

“Can you see anything?” he asked.

“No.”

“Good.”

His voice dropped, just as silky as the fabric and dangerous.

“Then I’ll be the only thing you feel.”

Time stopped meaning anything. I heard the quiet clink of a drawer opening. The creak of leather. The soft tug of rope.

“Are you looking for something?

☆☆SUMMER'S POV☆☆I fought harder, screaming his name, but the girls held me tighter, dragging me out of the cafe. People just watched—eyes darting away the second mine met theirs. Some looked guilty, others bored, a few even amused. Not one of them moved. I guessed the fraternity and the sorority had made quite the name for themselves.“No! Stop it! Let him go!” I screamed.Outside, they threw Jake onto the pavement. The night air hit him hard. Before he could stand, a kick drove into his ribs. Another fist slammed down. Jake coughed blood onto the sidewalk.Justin stepped forward, towering over him. “This is what happens when nobodies mouth off.” He raised his fist again and brought it down. Jake’s head snapped to the side.“Stop it!” I screamed, hot tears streaking my face. “Please, you’re killing him!”But no one listened. The frat boys laughed, boots connecting with Jake’s stomach, his back, his face. Each hit jolted through me like it landed on my own skin. Feet rained on him li

☆☆SUMMER'S POV☆☆Matteo’s phone buzzed. And that was how the subject about Kat left the chat. Matteo checked his phone. His demeanor instantly changed. I could tell it he was worried about something or someone. “Is everything alright?” I asked. He gave me a small smile. “Group meeting with some friends,” he replied. “ I’ll see you later.”“Sure,” I said, watching him head off.And right on cue, Jake slid in beside me like he’d been waiting. Hood low, eyes sharp.“Come with me. Let’s go eat at the cafeteria.”I laughed under my breath. “Since when do you order me around?”“Since you don’t take care of yourself.” His mouth curled, almost smug. “So I will.”I gave him a look. “And when did you become my nutritionist?”His mouth twitched. I groaned, but followed anyway. The café was right outside the campus. It was loud, students everywhere. We found a corner booth. Jake leaned forward before I’d even set my bag down.“Forget what Tristan said,” he muttered. My eyes narrowed. “Excuse me

♤♤JAKE'S POV♤♤Hiding in the library didn’t suit me at all. Hoodie up, hood low, no one noticed me tucked behind the shelves. At least, not Summer. From here, I had the perfect view of her and… that new guy. Matteo Grimaldi. Even his name sounded like a threat. “Strong emotions,” he said, voice low enough to vibrate through the silence. “Like obsession.”Summer froze, and my jaw clenched.Obsession.Was this Matteo guy obsessed with Summer? I wondered. Looking at him from this angle, I’d say he was. I hadn’t even planned to follow them. I was on my way to a cafeteria. But then I saw Summer step out with him.Matteo, walking too close, talking too low. And just like that, I changed course. My feet moved on their own, shadowing them down the corridor, into the library’s silence.Every time Summer and I tried to hang out, if Hayden wasn’t calling, Matteo was. He was always hovering around. Always stealing minutes that should’ve been mine. She said he was just a coursemate. I quote, ‘Jus

☆☆SUMMER’S POV☆☆🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹It had been a week since we returned to New York. Jake and I had been doing great together again, just like old times. He was still getting used to me dating Hayden, so we didn’t really talk about it. Instead, we talked about school and every other thing—except my relationship. And Hayden… Hayden was the opposite of easy. He was fire, sharp edges, addiction carved into my veins. Every day with him made me fall harder, even when I swore there was no further down to go.🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹The lecture hall was too bright. I’d been awake since five, cramming for a test that never happened. Now, my brain was tethering to the edge of unconsciousness. Three cups of coffee sloshed in my stomach, but apparently, caffeine couldn’t substitute for an actual functioning brain.“Bella? Bella?”My eyes snapped open. Matteo smirked at me, pointing toward the lecturer who was droning on about neurons and transmission. I hadn’t realized I’d been asleep for the past five minutes—

♡♡HAYDEN'S POV♡♡I went straight to my dad’s office. I’d heard from James that he had made that place his home for the past few days. He said he was buried in work, but it seemed more to me like he was buried in Kikky’s coochie—you know what I mean.James let me pass this time. He only smiled and asked how I’d been doing in school. Kikky was at her desk. Her eyes darted away from me when I stepped into her view. Her cheeks turned red. And the pen in her hand paused mid-stroke. Slowly, she set it down.“Morning, Kikky,” I said, smiling. She swallowed. “Good morning, Mr. Dylan.” Her voice trembled. “Your father is—he’s inside. Should I let him know you’re here?”“No,” I said. “I want to surprise him.”Her fingers fumbled over the papers. I walked past. The silence behind me was louder than any words. I pushed open the office door. The stink of cigars hit first. Then leather. Then him.My father was behind the desk, half-shadowed, glasses low on his nose. He looked up, startled for hal

☆☆SUMMER’S POV☆☆Hayden’s gaze hit the door behind me the second my hand left his shirt. He moved like a shadow—soft, careful—toward the bathroom. I blinked at him.“Hayden—” I started. The knock came again, louder. And then my father’s voice called,“Bunny?”Hayden put a finger to his lips, the old, infuriating smile ghosting at the corner of it.“Are you okay?” My dad asked. “I was passing by and heard some noise.”“Hide,” I mouthed to Hayden. He slipped into the bathroom. I wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. Instead I put on my best ‘I-am-so-innocent-I-breathe-sunlight’ face. Then I opened the door.“Hey, darling.” Dad’s eyes took me in like a familiar photograph. “You okay? I thought I heard someone—”“It’s just me, Dad,” I lied, because brevity is a superpower when your dad is trying to read everything in your pupils. “I’m still up for now. Thoughts and grieving and general melodrama.”He gave me that look—sympathetic but skeptical.“Thought I heard another voice. Is some
