Chapter 1

Two young girls were having a blast at the bar which was showing wildness at night, playing a game of truth or dare with their friends. The night was winding down, but their game showed no signs of stopping. The place was filled with the strong scent of alcohol, and the young crowd was caught up in the lively atmosphere.

"Seriously? Come on, girl, I can't pull off this dare," Amethysta McCarlock complained when she heard the challenge thrown her way.

"It's just a simple dare, your own dare. All you have to do is find a good-looking guy in this bar and ask him out. What's so hard about that?" Eira Oryn teased, winking mischievously.

"For fuck's sake, I'm just a regular human here, not like you folks with all the alpha, omega, and beta stuff. I can hardly step into this werewolf-owned bar."

"And if I get caught, I'll be the one in trouble," Amethysta frowned, trying to shake off the unpleasant thoughts of encountering the guards.

"No need to fret. My fiancé basically runs this whole place. If you get into any trouble, I'll have him sort it out. Now, go on, find yourself a guy to chat up," Eira encouraged, giving her friend a gentle push out of the VIP room.

"You'll never change, with your cheeky ways," Amethysta wrinkled her nose, earning a chuckle from Eira at her reaction.

"Not until you find someone to have some fun with," Eira teased, sticking out her tongue before closing the door behind her friend.

Amethysta pushed her way out of the group playing and weaved through the bustling bar, facing some difficulty in the process. After a bit of jostling, she finally broke free from the crowd and found a spot at the bar, ordering her favourite cocktail, one that wouldn't knock her out.

"It seems you're not a big fan of the hard stuff," a tall guy standing next to her commented, to which she casually shrugged.

"I'm just trying to avoid getting hooked. It can be a real pain to break free from its grip."

"But you've got everyone here under your spell, Miss," the man persisted.

"I'm flattered, Mr.," Amethysta paused.

"Icarus... Icarus Dempsey," he introduced himself with a polite nod.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Icarus."

"I'd be pleased if you'd use my name in that lovely voice of yours," Icarus suggested with a charming smile.

Amethysta gave an awkward chuckle, fully aware of the flirtatious direction this conversation was heading. She silently cursed herself for accepting such a silly dare.

"Let's cut to the chase. I got a dare to ask a handsome alpha stranger out on a date. I basically picked you at random, Mr. Icarus," she admitted, berating herself for her bluntness.

"How refreshingly direct. But I appreciate it. If you genuinely want me to be your date, then I'm more than happy to accept," Icarus replied, raising his glass, making the situation even more uncomfortable for Amethysta. Nevertheless, she found the courage to keep the conversation going.

"I honestly didn't expect you to say yes, especially after my rather impolite approach."

"No need to worry about it. I'm genuinely happy to be your date. By the way, what's your name?"

"It's Amethysta... Amethysta McCarlock."

She tilted her head, locking her gaze with his. The moment he settled into the seat at the counter, she had decided he would be the one to fulfil her dare.

"I didn't anticipate your eyes being so captivating. They're such a unique shade of violet," Icarus complimented, as she blushed slightly and looked down.

"I've heard similar compliments before, Mr. Icarus."

"My apologies. I'll try to come up with a better pickup line next time."

Little did she know, her heart raced in her chest as if it had a mind of its own, pounding louder than the music. He was openly flirting with her. Her fantasy world crumbled when he posed a question.

"Are you from this territory? I mean, this pack?"

"Of course, but you do seem like a foreigner," she deflected the question, and he responded calmly.

"Even in these dim, flickering lights, your perception is sharp, Miss Amethysta. I'm not entirely a foreigner, but I have mixed blood."

"Oh... Honestly, you still look quite handsome," Amethysta mentally facepalmed herself for her unexpected bluntness.

"I'll take that as a compliment. So, shall we proceed with our date?"

Amethysta gave a small nod and rose from her chair after finishing the last sip of her cocktail. The young alpha followed suit, and together they made their way out of the bar, navigating through the crowd with some pushing and pulling.

"Wait, let's take a selfie so I can send it to my friend and prove I completed my dare," she said, pulling out her phone. Icarus agreed, and she snapped a quick selfie, sending it to her friend Eira.

"You know, you don't have to go through with this date just for the dare. My dare is already done too," Amethysta pointed out.

"Since I'm new to this place, how about you be my guide for a few hours and show me around? That way, you won't have to worry about not completing your dare either."

"At this hour?" Amethysta's eyes widened.

"The night is still young, Angel," he said, his voice low and husky, causing her to momentarily freeze. She simply nodded, no longer resisting the idea. Her jaw dropped once more when they reached the parking area, and she saw a Lamborghini waiting for them.

"You've never seen a Lamborghini before," he remarked, waving his hand in front of her face as she let out a discreet chuckle.

"Not just any Lamborghini, but a super limited edition model that was released yesterday in the market, and here it is, right in front of me."

"Chuckles... I like this colour."

"Seriously, you didn't even register the car yet."

"Yes, and now my new car is graced with your presence," she chuckled at his cheesy words and hopped into the car. She indicated the direction as they drove to some random street shops.

"You brought me here? A street shop," Icarus expressed disappointment as soon as he got out of the car.

"You don't know the charm of night street shops and street food," she countered with a smile.

"Of course, I don't know, especially when the very definition of beauty is standing right in front of me, Angel."

"Enough with the cheesy lines, Mr. Icarus. You're trying hard, but I'm not that easily won over," she blurted out, concealing the slight blush on her cheeks behind her hair. A mischievous smirk danced on his lips.

After two hours of exploring the city, Icarus's phone rang, interrupting their time together.

"Well, I have to head out," Icarus said.

"That's alright. I can take public transport from here."

"Nah, let me give you a ride. You're my responsibility, Angel."

"Oh, come on. Enough with the 'angel' thing," she giggled, her laughter catching Icarus's attention differently.

"No can do because you really do look like one."

Amethyst playfully rolled her eyes and hopped into the car, signalling that she wanted him to drop her off. He pulled over at the entrance of the street.

"You sure you'll be alright on your own?" he asked.

"Yep, and I could use some fresh air too. Don't worry, my place is nearby, just a few blocks away."

He could sense that she didn't want to reveal too much about her location to a stranger, and she was right to be cautious.

"Send me a picture you took earlier," Icarus casually handed her his phone. Nervously, she nodded and sent a picture. It turned out he just wanted to exchange numbers, a smooth move on his part.

"It was nice meeting you at the bar. Let's hope for more encounters in the future. Angel," he said.

"You too, but seriously cut out the 'Angel' thing," she replied.

"I'm not making any promises," Icarus winked at her. Thankfully, the darkness of the night concealed the blush on her cheeks, or she'd have been caught red-handed.

She sighed and got out of the car. They bid each other goodbye, and as he accelerated away, she began her 15-20-minute walk home. A stranger, an Alpha, and a foreigner she had met today. It had been a peculiar day, and she was relieved he hadn't discovered her human identity.
