(MELANIE MARTINEZ POV):
I watched with great interest as she moved her body like a delicate flower. The way she swayed with ease and passion amazed me immensely. I couldn't believe it myself. This was what I wanted for myself when I get older. I literally daydreamed of the day hundreds of men would watch me in action as I portray my talent on that stage. But little did I know that my twin sister already had my life planned out for me.
Hello, my name is Melanie Martinez and this is my story. The story of my unfortunate life and how I got to meet a powerful demon king, Denver Hale.
You see, what you read earlier was something that used to happen when I was just a little child.
My mother was that graceful woman on stage. She wasn't a ballerina and nor was she some other sort of dancer.
Well, she was actually a dancer but not just any kind. My mother was a pole dancer that I adored so much as a kid.
To me, it was all about the beauty of it. I was just an innocent child at mind and heart and didn't see what the actual aim of her dance was as of then.
What kind of mother would take her kids to the club like this and do what she was doing right before their eyes?
Well, I didn't mention my dad at the beginning did I?
He was a victim of a car crash on his way to the hospital where my mother was giving birth to I and my twin sister. The doctor didn't tell her that till after she was done bringing us into the world.
Mom revealed this truth to us only when we were sixteen. She had originally planned to tell us when we reach eighteen but because we kept pushing to know she just let it out.
During those days when we were too young to be left at home, my mother always took us to the club she worked as a pole dancer, sat us down in a room meant for her to change and told us not to come out of the room.
Of course she didn't intentionally let us see her but I was the stubborn one of course and would always peep through a small opening on the door.
My sister, on the other hand, had no interest in our mother's work as I did and had stopped watching the very first day she had seen what mom does for a living.
She just stayed put on the floor and waited till our mom was done. She would sometimes fall asleep when mom took till night to finish.
Mind you, my sister, Delanie, isn't normally like this. My sister is actually a very manipulative kind of person. She's much more of a liar, exploiter, and a big thief.
It's almost like it's in her genes really so I wasn't surprised she would be the one to give me such a miserable life and turn me into a prostitute for her own benefits.
Let me not rush into things just yet and start it up from the top...
My mom had a magic hand in making lemonade and now that we were adults, nineteen years old to be precise, mom made me and Delanie help her out in selling while she went pole dancing.
We were just right outside our most visited selling point outside a school when a high school boy walked up to our stand.
"A glass of lemonade please ma'am." The boy said.
I poured out a glass for him and gave it to him.
The boy stretched forth his hand towards me with the money but Delanie snatched it from his hand.
"Delanie? Why did you do that?" I asked her, shocked at the way she yanked the money out of the young boy's hand.
"Shut up witch. Delanie does whatever she wants whenever she wants." Delanie replied to me.
"My change ma'am." The boy said.
"What change? You better run off with the lemonade while you still can or else I'll drink it too." Delanie threatened and stepped for then the boy ran off.
"Why the hell do you keep doing that to people?" I asked Delanie.
"Only the tough survive. This is earth and not some sort of heaven where you think good deeds would take you places." Delanie answered.
"One day this behaviour of yours would turn things sour for you." I said to her.
"Watch your mouth. You're only spared because you are my sister and mainly because of mom." Delanie told me but I ignored her.
People around, especially in this area we are now, always knew Delanie to be an awful person and had always tried to buy from me I'm her absence or just try not to look her way.
Most people ensure to come with the exact amount of money so as not to have their entire money seized by Delanie who would outrun the police anytime she is reported.
Actually, the police would still follow me home just to meet Delanie but not even mom knows where she spends the night in such cases.
It actually got to a point that the police gave up totally on her and told anyone who came with a report against her that it was a normal thing.
I'm so fed up of my sister. I don't even know who she got it from.
That day, after we sold the last batch of lemonade, I and my sister reached home only to hear loud shouts from right outside our house.
"Ugh! What is it this time?! Can't I come back home to a quiet house for once? It's been very stressful." Delanie complained.
"Stressful? You hardly did anything." I said to her.
"Yeah, but I went outsude with you. That is still stressful." Delanie replied.
I just shook my head and opened the door and to my surprise, it was our late dad's brother, uncle Gavin
"Melanie? Delanie? You're back so soon?" Mom asked us."Obviously." Delanie answered."Don't mind her mom. What's going on here?" I asked."It's nothing girls. Just go to your room and wait it out a bit okay?" Mom answered."Nothing? Go to their room? Don't you think it's about time you start treating you children as adults Barbra?" Our uncle asked."It's non of your business the way I train my children. So stop sticking your nose where it doesn't belong." Mom answered back.Uncle Gavin grinned cunningly at mom then wiped it off and turned directly at I and Delanie. He walked till he reached where we stood and whispered to us."Do you want to know a little secret?" Uncle Gavin asked."Gavin!" Mom shouted his name but that didn't stop him from speaking up."Your mother here is about to loose everything to me. That's what." Uncle Gavin said, smiles and wal
Delanie also got off bed and stood up to stretch."I have to take a bath first before going anywhere." Delanie said."This is serious Delanie. No time for baths. Take this." Mom said, shoving Delanie's luggage into her hands and mine into my own hands. She rushed out of our room and we followed her from behind as quickly as we could."Mom"Could you please explain what is going on?" I asked her."Not now sweetie." Mom said and opened the front door but only to bump into uncle Gavin.Mom almost fell on her butt but I wedged her from behind just in time."I never thought you would so much be in a hurry to follow orders." Uncle Gavin said to mom."Stay out of my way you freak." Mom replied uncle Gavin."Freak? Oh dear sister in-law. Is that any way to speak to your late husband's brother? Oh, I forgot. He's dead so of course it's an opportunity for y
"Please sir. We have nowhere else to go. No one else to run to. You are our only hope." My mother begged him."No. You can not and will not live here." Mr Levinson replied, sternly. My mom bowed her head in shame."I'm willing to do anything sir. Even if it means working double shifts sir. I dance dance here morning, afternoon and night for the guests." My mom offered.Mr Levinson rubbed his fingers on his chin then he got up from his seat and paced let and right."The both of you can stay here and you don't have to work for more than tour shift Barbra." Mr Levinson said."I... Don't?" My mom asked, unsure of what she had just heard."Yes. You don't. I will make your stay here very comfortable for you and your lovely daughter for just two days. After these two days, you and your daughter will be presented with a condition. Your answer will determine if you will stay here for long
"Talking a lot today aren't we Delanie?" Helena asked, slyly."Hmm... I don't know. I talk a lot all the time." I replied."It's time for us to start work. It's night and a few individuals are still out and about. Our perfect moment since there's not much people." Helena said."Kelvin, Celia, and I will got South and the two of you, Delanie and Sandra will go North." Helena stated."Of course she would always make sure that Kelvin and herself stay on the same team.We parted ways and our stealing began just like other nights." I don't get it. Why does she always group us this way? It's always you and me then her and her boyfriend and Celia."Sarah complained."She just wants to keep Kelvin to herself that's why. And Celia? Haha, I don't think I have to explain that part. Celia is the only one in our group of thieves that she can easily manipulate trust me." I answered.
#####6The man I pushed and stole a bicycle from was shouting at me to return it but I just laughed. Did I steal it to return it?I'm trashing it somewhere as soon as I'm done with it.The car kept increasing speed but I was much smarter than that. When all seemed lost I went through a short cut.I wasn't someone they could easily escape in these parts. Never. The car would take a sharp turn but with each effort they made they couldn't wave me off their tail but then I got confused. The car seemed to have doubled and I thought I was probably all in my head. However, no matter how much I blinked it was still doubled and from a transparent form became two solid cars.I could have sworn it was just one car. It's a clear road. Where did the other one come from?Nevertheless I followed them both but unfortunately for me they came to a T junction and split paths.I paused f
#####7I was surprised to see that the same lady that had brought breakfast to us just few minutes ago was now on the floor in front of our door."What were you doing in front of my door Rosa?" Mom asked the lady on the floor.Rosa, as my mother just called her, got up and dusted off her dress."Is that my apology? You just smacked me down with your door." Rosa replied.Mom laughed out loud then looked at Rosa with a serious face."Might I remind you, Rosa! The doors here open inwards and not outwards. So now tell me, what were you doing in front of my door? Eavesdropping?" Mom said."I don't have any time for this shit." Rosa said and made to walk away but mom dragged Rosa back by the dress."What the f*ck! What do you think you are doing you old hag!" Rosa shouted and that infuriated mom. Before anyone staring over could understand what was happening, mom la
#####8"What?!" Mom exclaimed."You heard me right." Mr Levinson said to her."But... But..." Mom stammered."But what?" Mr Levinson asked."I told you what to do and you simply refused to do it so why not? Unless you apologize to Rosa for your incompetent behaviour, you and your daughter can leave this place and never return." Mr Levinson added."Fine! I'm sorry." I'm said."Um. What? I didn't hear you." Rosa said."I already apologized!" Mom shouted."If she didn't hear you then repeat yourself louder." Mr Levinson said to mom."What you are doing is unfair." Mom complained to Mr Levinson."Repeat your apology or leave." Mr Levinson stated."I am sorry!" Mom shouted."The both of you may leave my office." Mr Levinson said.On hearing his words, i felt my heart beat faster and faster. I immediately started to
#####9"H... H... Hello? Wh... Who's there?" I asked, frightened. The shadow began to move closer and closer and I got even more scared. I got back into my senses and my brain managed to convince my legs to run so of did.I turned away and began to run as fast as I could. At least, trying to run fast. I discovered that there was a force around me that seemed to pull me back, or rather, prevented me from moving fast.Ahead of me was a door and that was where the music came from. I did all I could to reach it before the shadow could reach me and I knew better than to look back. Before I knew it I found myself sit up immediately from the floor where I had still been sleeping and I was panting fast.Sweat covered the entire part of my body and my heart kept beating painful in my chest. That image, it's male. And... he looked familiar. I knew that he was someone I had seen before but why can't I remember
