Chapter five

"Talking a lot today aren't we Delanie?" Helena asked, slyly.

"Hmm... I don't know. I talk a lot all the time." I replied.

"It's time for us to start work. It's night and a few individuals are still out and about. Our perfect moment since there's not much people." Helena said.

"Kelvin, Celia, and I will got South and the two of you, Delanie and Sandra will go North." Helena stated.

"Of course she would always make sure that Kelvin and herself stay on the same team.

We parted ways and our stealing began just like other nights.

" I don't get it. Why does she always group us this way? It's always you and me then her and her boyfriend and Celia."Sarah complained.

"She just wants to keep Kelvin to herself that's why. And Celia? Haha, I don't think I have to explain that part. Celia is the only one in our group of thieves that she can easily manipulate trust me." I answered.

"Well, I don't give a shit what she does.." Sarah said.

"Yeah. Sure." I said, sarcastically.

"What is that? What are you trying to say?" Sarah asked.

"I'm saying you are weak as well." I answered her.

"What the! Now look her you..."

"Shh." I said, not letting Sarah finish speaking.

"What? Don't you shush me." Sarah said.

"Shh! Can't you just shut up?!" I whispered.

Sarah looked in the direction I was looking and hid at a dark corner as I did.

"Woah. Who do you think he is?" Sarah asked me.

"A victim." I answered.

"Victim? Victim of what?" Sarah stupidly asked.

"What else are we doing here if not looking for people to steal from?" I asked Sarah.

"Ohh." Sarah said, as if just understanding what I meant.

What an idiot.

We were watching a man step out of a very deeply dark black coloured car at the other side of the road.

He had glasses on and could definitely pass as a well off guy. Surprisingly, he didn't have any guards around him or anything else. Just a driver had dropped him and waited.

"That guy is our golden ticket to a lot of cash." I said to Sarah.

After some time of waiting for a response I turned my gaze from the guy in front of me and stared behind me for Sarah but she wasn't there.

"Sarah?" I silently called for her.

"Sarah?" I called again and my eyes searched around me in vain.

I turned to watch the man again but to my surprise there was absolutely no sign of him nor was there any sign of the car that was parked there before.

This was indeed a very strange encounter for me but I stayed calm.

After some more time wandering around on the streets and not finding anyone to steal from, I finally decided to return to our meeting point.

Where the hell did Sarah run off to?

"Oh look. Did the queen return empty handed?" Helena said, mockingly to me.

"I didn't find anyone in those parts." I said to Helena.

"That's not my business. Nothing for you to eat tonight since you didn't manage to get anything." Helena stated.

Ugh! I hated her so much.

"Where's Sarah?" Celia asked me.

"How am I to know? She's old enough to find her way back here isn't she?" I replied Celia.

"Look here you brat. In this group, no one gets left behind and I mean no one. Better go find her where you lost her or else." Helena threatened me.

"Or else what?" I questioned Helena, staring her square in the face.

"Or else you will not have a place to sleep tonight." Helena said to me.

"Screw your shelter. It's just an uncompleted building and it's not like you own it." I retorted.

Helena glared at me as if she was ready to scratch off my eye balls.

"I may not own the building but I'm still the leader of this group. I've always been the leader way before you, a new comer, joined in." Helena said to me.

Helena folded her arms across her chest and looked away from my direction.

"If you don't return with Sarah, you seize to be a member of our group." Helena said to me.

"F U!" I yelled to Helena's face.

I turned around and walked off the same direction I had returned from. It may be too late but I'll make sure to steal something that would make her regret speaking to me in that manner.

As I approached the same spot that I had lost track of I spotted the same man and the same car. This is really strange.

This time it wasn't just him, I saw Sarah getting into his car.

What the hell is going on here?! Sarah doesn't even know that guy. We only just saw him.

"Sarah!" I yelled her name.

At least I should know why she is following him shouldn't I?

But Sarah didn't answer me. Probably, she didn't hear me?

"Sarah!" I shouted again and attempted to cross the road at the same time.

The man who was about to go in after Sarah looked up at me and I felt something that I have never felt before, a strike of fear in my heart.

The moonlight flashed and lit up his eyes for a moment so I could see a flash of red. I felt myself take a step back.

I couldn't see his face properly but those eyes were definitely not natural.

At that very moment a car zoomed towards me. I managed to dodge on time by jumping back to the side of the road I was originally at but when I looked again, the car wasn't there anymore.

I looked to my left and there it was again. The same car but it was driving away. I had to catch up to it.

It's not like I cared about Sarah but I didn't want to get kicked out of the group. Even more so, I was curious about this mystery man. Who is he and what does he want with Sarah? What sort of eyes are those?

I get there are people with red coloured eyes but his was different. It glowed in the moonlight.

A man was just came down from his bicycle and was pulling out his chain to lock it. I quickly dashed from behind him, pushed him hard and rode away the bicycle.

I know evwry shortcut here of course I had to catch up with the mysterious stranger.
