Vanessa

“You’re late Vanessa.” The words rolled off his tongue with such strong conviction like I had done a great sin. “I told you not to be late, but here you are late.” He continues, his eyes not straying from mine at any point.

I knew that Anderson told me not to be late but he also failed to apologise so in my books, this brings us to equal score.

“I lost track of time, I apologise for keeping you waiting.” I say trying to sound as sincere as I can.

“Time is valuable, Vanessa. If yours

Vanessa The car ride home was filled with comfortable silence. I silently watched as Anderson drove his car with so much ease. I could see the other car behind us through the rearview mirror. It’s really sweet that Anderson decided to drive me back home himself. As the city drifted away, my mind replayed back the entire evening. Learning a bit more about Anderson and how he became who he is today, finding out he has a sweet tooth —that was definitely a serious shock. But most of all, Anderson telling me he wants to pursue me. I don’t know what to make of that honestly, he’s given me very mixed signals since the first day we met. How could I forget our almost kiss. If he hadn’t stopped it, let’s just say he might be driving a lot faster than this. A part of me liked that he did though, because despite how charged the atmosphere was, I do want to take things slow. I want to really get to know him and for him to know me, I don’t want to play any kind of games with him. While still in

I knew that Anderson told me not to be late but he also failed to apologise so in my books, this brings us to equal score. “I lost track of time, I apologise for keeping you waiting.” I say trying to sound as sincere as I can. “Time is valuable, Vanessa. If yours isn’t, mine is.” He retorts. I almost feel like he’s taking shots at me but it dawns on me that he’s really just being honest, Anderson is a billionaire after all and he couldn’t have gotten there by being late. “I know. I’m sorry” I tell him, with more honesty than before. “It’s okay. I had already entertained the possibility of you being late.” He replied coolly. Of course he did. I have apologised to Anderson twice now for something he saw coming and he hasn’t done that once. It’s almost l

Vanessa Just as I had guessed, when we went to the mall, we couldn’t find anything that I felt was appropriate for tonight. So, today, Gemma and I are going to check out some other spots she’s familiar with. I have to find an outfit that doesn’t look like I’m trying too hard but also looks like I put in some effort. After all, he did reserve the whole restaurant, I at least want to look good, I wouldn’t want to feel beneath him. I meet Gemma at one of the busier shopping streets and we go shop to shop looking for a dress. We finally get to one store and rampage through. I try on a couple of dresses and we came down to three contenders. One, a sleek strapless black dress. It has a fitted bodice and a long glowing skirt with a bit of ruffles above my hips —that the dress hugs very nicely. The second option was a long white fitted dress with thin straps, a square neckline and a corset-like bodice that did wonders for my boobs. That’s probably why Gemma liked this the most. The third

VANESSA I toss my phone on the couch, pacing the tiny space designated as my living room. My ears are ringing with annoyance. I can’t believe that just happened to me. Anderson calls which was a nice surprise and then he goes ahead to spoil it himself by speaking to me like some bimbo that doesn’t have a life. What the hell did he expect to happen when he said that? That I’d jump for joy? Talking to him was nice but it wasn’t life altering or something that’ll change my brain chemistry and make me lose all my self respect. I just feel completely livid. I don’t even remember the last time I got this annoyed. I felt more let down because the Anderson I met that night didn’t seem like the Anderson that called me. This one was abrasive and rude. Yet, under all the annoyance at his approach, I can’t help but feel something…I can’t place what it is but there’s a feeling of anticipation as to whether he’d call me back. I hate the curiosity tugging at my mind, wondering what could happen

  • Desire’s Price    Chapter Eight

ANDERSON Ever since I saw her, I haven't been able to get my mind off of her. I can’t keep beating myself up over why I didn’t ask for her number or anything that I could use to find her. I guess it wouldn’t be so difficult to find her, she did just have a successful show a week ago. The thing is though, I want to be careful about this. I wouldn’t want people finding out I’m looking for this woman. Everyone knows me to be the focused man, hellbent on amassing even more success for himself and his empire. As I stare at the painting that rests on a part of the wall in my office, the same one we talked about and stared at when we spoke that night, I wonder what it must be about this woman that intrigues me the most. Perhaps I just need to sleep with her to get her out of my system. Yes, that’s probably it. I’ll try that but now I have to be even more sneaky about it. Lost in thoughts about Vanessa, my sister barges into my office again and immediately a bulb lights up in my head. “

VANESSA“I literally can’t believe he didn’t get your number. You both looked like you had fallen in love right there.” Says Gemma. She and Bella had called me this morning wanting details about the man I was speaking with last night, because apparently they had watched us for a while. “Well I don’t know what to say guys, he didn’t ask for it and I wouldn’t just give it either, I’d like to maintain some form of self respect.” I say that now but as we exchanged our last words last night I did think for a second to give it to him, but I refrained from that. “Do you think he’s married?” Bella asks.“No, I don’t think so. But I can’t be sure. Maybe he’s just completely out of my league and he was extra bored last night.”“Come on Nessa, don’t do that to yourself” Gemma chastises through the phone. “You’re a really sweet girl and any man would be lucky to have you,” Bella says. “Well thanks guys but I do need to go.” I tell them and we finally say our goodbyes. Although Anderson was on

Anderson “You have to make an appearance Andy, I already told them you would.” Callie warns. I can’t believe we’re back to this topic. “Why can’t you just go, Callie?” I ask again like I did the last 5 times she brought up this art exhibition. “Because, Andy, you’re the CEO and I’m just you

The next few days go by in a breeze and the day of the exhibition comes along. The event is to start by 6pm tonight. I still have enough time to get ready and build my nerves for the night. Gemma and Bella had texted me earlier asking what time they should be there. Honestly, if it was up to me, I

RYANThe invitation box the gallery sent had been on my coffee table in my office since the day it was delivered. Now, I’m mindlessly inspecting the card it came with, reading the words and my name engraved on the card. I’m well aware of the only reason why I’m invited. It has nothing to do with my
