Chapter Seventy-two

Inside the cabin of the small private plane, tension hung heavy in the air. Only three occupants occupied the space, each with their own emotional turmoil. After all of Brenda’s schemes to stall in hope of Damien’s arrival to rescue them failed as Alfred was clearly not easily deceived. Brenda and her little sister huddled close together, clutching onto each other as fear wrapped its icy fingers around their hearts. Across from them, Alfred sat with a sinister smirk playing on his lips, reveling in their vulnerability.

As the minutes turned into an agonizing eternity, Brenda’s hope began to waver. The absence of Damien and his men was a crushing blow to her spirit. Tears welled in her eyes, mirroring the despair etched on her face. She mustered the courage to plead with Alfred, her voice trembling.

“Please, Alfred,” she implored, her voice quivering with desperation. “Let us go. We won’t tell anyone about this. Just release us, and we’ll disappear.”
