CHAPTER 48

JAELA

Squinting at the light peeking through the curtain. Rubbing my eyes to clear the sleep from them. Slowly my gaze hovered over the man laying next to me, his arms wrapped loosely around my naked body.

Who would have thought this would be my reality again. I’d be lying if I said I expected to be back in his arms again. Though we promised ourselves to move on, this feeling feels right. Aiyana purred in agreement.

This is what we needed all along, to forget about our duties, our packs. All I need is him, still the unknown scares the daylight out of me. Will he change his mind? Will he leave me like the last time? Would I survive if he does?

I wouldn’t survive it, a fact I’d bank on. After opening my heart to him again, chances are I’d be lost. The Moon Goddess wouldn’t have given him to me for us not to work. I have to believe that there’s more to us than letting each other go. I’m willing to take the leap into the unknown, hopefully it's worth it.
