Chapter 5: Lily's POV

Why couldn’t I tell Xander about the novel? What the hell was happening? My breath had quickened and my heart was thumping harsher against my rib cage.

“Wh-where are you…you taking me?” I stuttered.

He turned deaf to my question and just tugged my hands harshly. He pulled me for a long time until we entered a strange Dark room, where there was only a chair in the middle.

“Stay here.” He pushed me onto the chair and left.

“Wait,” I called out, running after him, but the moment he stepped out, a large iron gate landed from above to separate me from the exit. I flinched, staring up from where it had landed.

Realizing he was not coming back, I dropped to sit on the floor with my back against the gate. My eyes roamed over the empty room. Aside from the chair, there were stacks of wood around and holes on the wall for ventilation.

A stroke of fear started to grow in my heart, this place is horrifying and I’m now locked up. All of this feels too real.

“I know none of this makes sense and I’m certain it’s nothing but a dream,” my voice echoed around the room. I let out a deep breath and shut my eyes, pulling my knees to my chest. “I’ll sleep it off and maybe, just maybe when I wake up, I will return to my lovely bedroom and get out of this mess.” I nodded and folded my arms on my knees to lay my head there.

It took a while till I slowly drifted out of this place and fell into a deep sleep.

A ray of light struck my eyes and woke me up. I opened my eyes and froze, my gaze wandering around the room.

“I’m still here?!” I screamed and jumped to my feet, pacing around. “No way. This isn’t possible.” I continued walking around, trying to think straight.

‘Why are you so slow, sis? Let's stop lying to ourselves, we're the vicious Lisa right now!’ A voice said.

“What the heck? Who was that?” I shouted, staring around the room, yet no one was here.

‘Are you that silly?’ The female voice chuckled. ‘I’m Maya, your wolf and your sister; we're both the moon goddess' daughters.’ Her voice was so cherry, a complete mismatch of the panic residing in me.

‘What the heck is going on?’

‘Don’t you remember?’

'Remember what?'

She sighed. ‘Okay, I’ll help you remember.'

All of a sudden, a memory of my dream last night popped up in my head when a moon goddess claimed for me to be her daughter and agreed to grant me a wish. I had been rambling about the book and how my life was terrible, how I wished to escape from my world and how I wished to just set things right between the main characters in the novel, then she agreed to grant me my wish.

‘We're both the moon goddess' daughters,

‘So your moon goddess mother sent me here to grant what wish?’ I asked Maya, shaking my head. ‘This is nonsense. This makes no sense at all.’

‘It might not, but I’m sure our mother has a great reason for it.’ She tried to sound convincing.

‘This is definitely still a dream.’ “Moon goddess?” I laughed so hard. ‘Lily, you’ve been reading too many werewolf books. What the hell is a moon goddess?’ I hissed, glancing around. ‘I’m obviously still dreaming in a dream. My annoying alarm will ring very soon and wake me up from this mess. In no time, I'll be back in my tiny bedroom.’ I tried to assure myself, ignoring the heavy beating of my heart against my rib cage. I was intentional about convincing myself that there was no way this was possible.

‘Lily, you need to get things straight. The sooner the better.’ Maya continued pestering me.

I paced around the room, waiting with the highest hope that my alarm was going to ring and get me out of this madness. I stopped pacing around when I noticed a glistening material beside the stack of woods.

When I stepped closer to it, I realized it was a shattered glass on the floor and it reflected my face. I screamed at the image: My amber eyes were now steel blue and my dark brown hair was now beige blonde and tied up in a messy bun.

I screamed again, leaning closer to the broken glass and held my face, my beating heart raced faster. “Oh no, no! I look… different. This makes no sense!” I touched my face and the image in the reflection touched her face as well. I made weird facial expressions and the image did the same thing.

A frown formed on my face and I clenched my fists. “I’m really Lisa?!”

‘Yes, that’s what I’ve been trying to explain to you!’ Maya said.

I huffed, digging my fingers into my hair. “This is probably Natasha’s work. That crazy girl could have done plastic surgery on me and made these people kidnap me. I  have to get out of here.” I walked closer to the stack of woods and picked a large wood.

Climbing up the stack of woods, I started hitting the wall. There were holes on the wall for ventilation, I continued hitting the large wood against the hard wall to make the holes wider and probably wide enough to create an escape for me. The iron gates were way harder and were obviously not an option for me to escape from.

‘I can assure you that this has nothing to do with Natasha. The moon goddess obviously —’

‘Then fuck the moon goddess!’ I yelled at her.

Maya froze, stepping back in surrender.

‘Jeez, Lily. What’s wrong with you?’ Maya scolded.

I whimpered from the intense pain and limped back to the chair. When I sat on it, I tried to move to be more comfortable but my butt hurt even more. “Ow, that hurts.” I winced.

‘I really don’t know what you want to think, but it’s really better for us for you to accept the truth sooner. You probably made the moon goddess believe that since you find comfort in the book, being here would make you happier.”

“By being the terrible villainess?!” I cried.

‘I...guess… so. I'm sure she knows best. I’m your sister from the moon goddess and have come in the form of your wolf to help you out. We can solve this together.’

‘What am I supposed to do now?’ I finally gave up to the obvious truth.

‘’I don’t really know. Mum didn’t go into detailed information when she sent me.’

‘Where is she? I need to speak to her.’ I demanded.

‘Unfortunately, that’s not possible for now. Mummy is so busy lately and neither of us would be able to see her soon, that’s why she sent me, your sister and your wolf, to help you out with dealing with this.’ Realizing that there was no escape sooner made me wanna cry. ‘Please don’t cry. I’m sure there’s a way out.’

‘What way?!’ I snapped at her.

‘But my suggestion is that since you wanted the main characters to be happy together, the moon goddess might have sent you here to realize your wish. Maybe she wants you to pair them together so Lisa wouldn’t disturb their relationship. That’s what you wanted, right?’

‘I guess you’re… right.’ It felt like a glimpse of hope crossed me. ‘That seems to be the only sensible option to get out of here. And that should be quite easy.’ I nodded.

‘Great! It’ll be easy, and we’ll work together to realize your wish sooner.’ She said cheerfully.

I nodded, glad that there was a ray of hope towards my escape and glad that at least I wasn’t alone in this.

‘So please don't cry anymore and let's get to action.’ She smiled at me.

I nodded again and wiped my face with the sleeve of the shirt I was wearing.

My head lifted in anticipation. I was somewhat ready to embark on this strange journey when fear struck me once again.

‘Maya, since this is actually not a dream… I’ve made the biggest mistake!” My eyes widened.

‘What mistake?’ She wondered.

‘I had admitted to Alpha Xander that I cheated on him, and because I thought it was all a dream, I had been so bold to talk back to Alpha Xander. What if he kills me?!’ I gasped.
